Three days and nights, 8 buses and 3 collectivos later we have arrived in Guanajuato, Mexico. We left Honduras and made it across the Mexican border in a day and a half. We stayed overnight in a little town called Retalhuleu (Reu to the locals). The drive into Guate City took about 4 and a half hours and was painfully hot and slow as always. I hate that drive. We got to Reu at something like 10h30 at night because what should have been a 6h00 departure time was moved to an hour later because the bus driver decided to yak and needed gas. By the time we finally left the city I wanted to yank my hair out! The drive to the border was a nice easy one and we had no problems with our ... read more

(Dave writes...) Well, we've been in Boston for 6 days and we're having a great time. We're staying with Donna & Joe, Gem's relatives, who have looked after us and treated us to all kinds of lovely food. We went to Salem on Thursday to find some witches. Friday we went to Boston - a beautiful city that I love more than New York. This weekend we went to New Hampshire and stayed with Sharon & Dan (Donna's brother) & Cosmo, their hugely friendly - and it has to be said, slightly insane - kitten. There's a few pictures in this entry: - Donna & Joe outside of the witch museum in Salem. - Fred, the teddy bear donated to us by Gem's school so we can take it on a trip round the world. He ... read more

What a week we had in Las Vegas, it was all we imagined it to be - bright lights and expensive. After testing out all of the Casinos we decided that ours - Bellagio - was the best, pricey though. The Freemont Experience at Freemont Street was something else, would definately go back for the live bands and atmosphere, the lights show was special too. Lost some money, were expecting that though. Also went to the Stratosphere where there were some freaky rides right at the very top. We were also lucky enough to be at Las Vegas for the opening of Steve Wynn's Casino. Had a beer with him, ate some kangaroo and were on our way. Ha Ha. During our stay we went to Grand Canyon which was breathtaking - the pictures do not ... read more

It is Sunday and it is raining, after several sunny days. This is a good time to put together a blog. We have been to many beautiful places, so I will try to show you several of the best. Spring has finally arrived in New Mexico and everything is bursting forth. 1. Beginning in Santa Fe, we have been to many art galleries along Canyon Road. We could only take pictures outside so here are several. And yes, I did buy some silver jewelry, but tried to keep it down. Jewelry is the ONLY thing I can buy now, because the car is loaded! We also did several hikes into the mountains above Santa Fe. 2. The Los Alamos area is on high mesas. We went last Monday, but the museum was closed. We are going ... read more

The last couple of days we have seen a whole heap of LA. We went on a tour on Thursday of LA and visited Beverly Hills, Farmers Market, Hollywood (with the stars on the path and the footprints e.t.c) we have even been to Venice Beach - where it rained for the half hour that we were there! On Thursday night we went to a Medieval Times Dinner which was awesome!! We cheered on our knight as he fought the others in sword fights and jousting and the best part was we got to eat our dinner with our fingers - as they had no cutlery back then! Yesterday we hired a car and tried our luck on the LA freeways...Very scary....But worth it to get to the Alan Jackson and Sara Evans Concert. HA HA. ... read more

In late April, 2005 Nan, Shad and I made a photo safari to the Columbia Gorge towing our light weight Quicksilver fold-out tent trailer behind our Subi Forester. It was our first outing since our trip last September east to the Grande Tetons and Yellowstone National Parks. Many of the photos made on this trip are available for view and purchase from my online gallery at NW Exposures Earlier this year I had a 12 volt water pump system installed in the Q'silver and this was our first time to try it out. Momma, the trail boss, is happy. That means that Shaddow and I are happy too. The pump is easy and convenient; it surges to service with a turn of the lever next to the water spout. With the price of gas, I drove ... read more

It is 9:20pm Sunday night and I just got through with a very great family dinner. My Mom, Elizabeth, Dad, Freddy, April and I (plus the pets) all enjoyed a delicious dinner cooked by April. It was nice to have my dad over. It has been 9 years!! Everything went perfect -- so, so nice. I can't believe I am only 6 days away from my 3 month road trip excursion. I am very excited...nervous...anxious. I just hope I am nice and healthy. Health really is everything. I am a 28 year old woman and here I am worrying about sore muscles, stomach aches, etc., --- YEAH, I guess I do need this time away. I will miss my pets sooooooo bad. That is going to be the toughest thing. To be honest I am not ... read more

only one more final.... and 41 more days.... Im getting nervous, like stupid day dreams about being lost in the London subway system... or jogging in italy and forgetting how to get back to the place im staying... I think I should invest in GPS or one of those microchip systems they use on puppies... The really stupid part pf preparing for this trip is the ridiculous hoops I have to jump through just to get proper ventolin machine... its like they dont want me to breathe in Italy... Now they want me to prove I've had asthma all my life... what exactly do they think Im going to do with this machine?? I need it to breathe, why would I sell it? Does it involve some kind of NASA technology that they dont want Italian ... read more
