It was Awesome to see Dave and I only had the morning and late evening to hang out but I am sure I will see him again soon. Dave also has been a friend I have seen in different places around the world, but mostly, Dave is my brother and has been a faithful friend in a way that no one else has. I hope God Blesses him ten times as much as he has for other people. How cool to get to see so many great friends on this trip too. Best of all, he makes me laugh a lot. But he ate all my Thai food on the way out of town. Portland is only a couple hours from Tacoma, maybe he will be around if I move here. If I keep the TravelBlog ... read more

I've now arrived at the New York hostel, after an epic 17 hour journey, to find my road trip compadres are all missing presumed lost! Unless they turn up soon I'm going to have to brave the dodgy looking pizza restaurant over the road alone. New York is exactly how you'd expect. Yellow cabs, apartment buildings with fire escapes bolted on the side, fat people... I expected this but I am still surprised at just how familiar it all feels - as if I've lived here half my life. Tomorrow the sight-seeing begins in earnest.... read more

Ok so I'm still in LA stuck in the books and have a little more than a month to go on this whole bar exam experience...but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel so I'm starting my journal today. Hopefully in a little more than 30 days I will look back on tonight and realize that the nightmare is finally over. On a more positive note, I'm really excited about being able to share this experience with everyone who logs on...at this stage of the game so many things in life are open to who knows what and it couldn't be more exhilirating. Now I've just got to buckle down and get through the next 4+ weeks. I feel like the little engine...I think I can, I think I can, I think ... read more

Work is almost over! One last exam to give tomorrow and mark by Tuesday, and then it's time to clean up my stuff at Monsignor Doyle, pack up, and get ready for what is certain to be an INCREDIBLE summer for me. I leave for Edinburgh, Scotland on Thursday at 11 pm - I'm certain I'll have no trouble sleeping on the plane, as that is the last day of work. I'm still a little wary of this whole backpacking-style tour that my brother, Michael (Shortstuff to Travel Bloggers) and I are taking. Yes, those who know me know that I like to be pampered, but also that I enjoy trying something new - I guess that partly explains why I'm moving to Egypt for 2 years in August! I'm sure that Michael and I ... read more

I feel overwhelmed with this trip. I needed the renewal so much and its so amazing how much better its been than anything I could have anticipated. The church I spent the week at definately has been experiencing revival in a deep sense. I guess the movement is happening with the young people, because they were some of the happiest and free-est group ever! I made a lot of new friends and saw a lot of old ones. People from around the world were at this conference for this church in the middle of nowhere and letting go of burdens that have followed them their whole life. It was a privelege to be a part of. If I were to choose a place to go after seminary right now I think it would be Tacoma to ... read more

Our first stop was the Valley of Fire in Nevada. Let me tell you, this place was definitely hot! The entire landscape was red and desert like. We did a short hike over to Mouse's Tank. An alleged Southern Paiute Indian renegade named "Little Mouse" hid out there in the 1890's. He was accused of gunning down two prospectors and many other crimes in the area. He was finally trapped in July 1897 but not in the Mouse's' Tank. He was caught a few miles away by the spring at what is today called the Muddy River. The official story is that he was surrounded, refused to give up and he was shot. In the afternoon, we drove to Las Vegas for some gambling and buffet eating :) I made the whole group head over to ... read more

I love New York. Each day I wake up with a long list of things to do but each day, despite my best efforts to stay focused, I keep on getting distracted and wander down side streets. I end up seeing eveything and nothing.... Friday I tried to get tickets to see Shakespeare in the Park, after waiting for 2 hours in the heat of the day they gave the last ticket to the person standing 3 people ahead of me in the queue. Shrugging it off, went to meet up with Rob at the Grand Central Station. For those of you who have never been there it is a totally awesome station with the star consellations painted on the roof (reminiscent of the sistene chapel) what makes it even more impressive is the fact that ... read more

After a flying visit to Sedona, we headed on to Vegas! I love Vegas, it is just so much fun... This time we stayed at the Paris hotel, so glad we stayed there it was fabulous. The Parisian style was so funny, there was a lovely pattiserie that did cakes to D D Die for! We also went to see Cirque De Soleil's "O" which was incredible, those acrobats are so talented, there moves were incredible. Really reccomend this show. We also went to the new Wynn hotel, it was so luxurious, I ate the most gorgeous strawberries dipped in white chocolate there... MMmmmmmmmm... Check out these pics:... read more
