Things to do on a School Night: The Flying Saucer North America » United States » North Carolina » Charlotte By _Gaby_April 16th 2007GabyJa jag tänkte uppdatera ställen vi hängde på, så som The Flying Saucer, som Henrik fann via sina house-mates (ja han bodde off-campus). Men i vilket ... read more

From Grand Canyon we headed south to Flagstaff and there were those two digits popping up again as we spied our first 66 attraction, the Museum Club. Unfortunately at 11 A.M. we were about 12 hours too early in the day to appreciate the atmosphere and enjoy any live music in the place voted ‘Readers favourite Dance club’ in ‘Country America Magazine’ but we were able to pop in and enjoy the route 66 print material in the booths and the amateur taxidermist owner’s handiwork. Passing the famous wooden carved Twin Arrows, that had obviously seen better days, our next detour was just 6 miles south of our main route to the world’s best-preserved and first proven meteorite impact site. Amazingly our ‘tour guide’ of the hole in the ground managed to make the ‘tour’ last ... read more

Full India TripBrett MaloneI arrived safely into Mactown about 3:30 am this morning after 24 hours plus of traveling. It's a relief to be home, and I'll spend the next couple days overcoming my jetlag. I'll try and give everyone a call soon so we can chat. If you have time, then check out the map here because I've tried to give an overview of my entire travels in India.... read more

So, last time I blogged I was still in Cambodia. I ended up buying a package ticket from my guesthouse straight to the Thai island of Koh Chang for $25 US. Not too bad I guess considering it was an all day drive. It was beautiful scenery through the georgeous and lush Cambodian mountainside including 4 river crossings on a handmade barge powered by automobile engines. Once we got to the Thailand border, we boarded another bus and were on our way to Trat, the mainland city nearest to the island of Koh Chang (where I will meet up w/ Nate once again). It rained a little on the way, but was still a pleasant enough ride. After a 20 minute ferry ride and a 40 minute ride in the back of a pickup truck ... read more

Monday April 16, We arranged a Lincoln Town car Limousine to take us to Kennedy Airport this morning for our flight to Los Angeles. Check in was a breeze, we didn’t have to take our bags anywhere for scrutiny at all, it just went down the belt, quite different to other airports where it is taken aside and X rayed. We walked to the Admirals Club, which is the American Airlines lounge. It was quite roomy, but all they were serving was coffee, tea, juice and a plain bagel. Paul got on line to read the Sydney Morning Herald but it was blocked, as were all Aussie news sites, the prompt said it was due to due to 'violence and hate' contained on it. Obviously their net guard blankets a lot of sites this way. ... read more

USA to homeAlex & Laura Enroute to the States from Fiji we have the strange experience of crossing the Date Line. Not only does this mean we have a 42 hour day (a large proportion of this spent travelling I might add) we actually land earlier than we took off. Thus we arrive at LAX at 14:30 on March 15th having left Fiji at 22:30 on March 15th. Most peculiar. We had spent a long time choosing where to stay in L.A as the city is so vast and public transport isn't great. Add to that there are some neighbourhoods where it is easier to get shot than to find a cab, and the issue takes on a whole different perspective. In the end we plumped for the Orchid Suites in Hollywood, and it was a ... read more

Its been nice and relaxing here in L.A. I hung out with Owen and Courtenay on Thursday night. We got some really great sushi and then just crashed - still recouperating from the night before. On Friday Jeff picked me up after work and we went to his apartment in Venice Beach. We hung out with one of his friends who is a manager at his house in the hills. It was ridiculously gorgeous, but felt like a museum... I wish I had thought to take pictures. The next day Jeff had to teach an acting class so I wandered around Venice Beach looking at all the cheesy tourist items and the general parade of freaks. The beach was quite beautiful. That night we went to see "Blades of Glory" - which I worked on ... read more
