Well today we were in Juneau but I slept in so I didn't get off the ship! We arrive in Juneau at 7am and have to be back on the ship at 12:30....so if you sleep in you are stuck on the ship! But it's alright....I a m well rested:) Last night we had a celebration because it was the Filipino Independence Day and about 70% of the crew if Filipino....there was food and dancing and free drinks! It was fun.....and the crew loves that I'm half Filipino.....I have connections in the Filipino Mafia onboard:) This cruise has been pretty quiet so far. I finished reading another book and knit a scarf for Sally my roommate. I found out that a friend of mine from Jubilee and the Rio, Tessa, is dancing on the Norwegian ... read more

While I'm technically in Sitka now, this entry is going to really be more about what has been happening especially yesterday as it was our Hubbard Glacier day. After my last entry in Juneau, I left the Internet cafe and walked back to the ship. This ended up being a very wet mile, but it was nice to get a semi-hike in. Back onboard, I got changed into dry clothes and went to dinner followed by a comedy show and then a version of "American Idol" they hold on board where passengers "try out" and then sing before a panel of judges which included our illustrious cruise director, one of the singers from the shows they do on board, and one of the DJs. It was most definitely a lot of fun. I've finally realized ... read more

Well my time has flown by and its time to say goodbye to Seattle. On my last day in Seattle I was able to hit the shops just one more time and visit the Outlets - they are part of a huge development on Indian tribal land, so its pretty amazing to think how smart those little Indians were!! Instead of selling the land, they kept it, have built a Casino, are in the process of building a hotel, and an outlet centre all on their land. This means that every month every single member of the tribe (apparently there are thousands of them) each receive a cheque for the profits for that month - How cool!! They would be loving it - money for just being part of the family! For our final dinner ... read more

June 8, 2007 Our trip down to Georgia was relatively short and easy. We made our way over to Cumming, Georgia (about 35 minutes from Atlanta) to stay with Allison’s sister, Lorraine, and her three year old daughter, Josephine. Josephine was a bit shy at first, but quickly warmed up to us and played some hide-and-seek. As you can see from the pictures Josephine is the cutest kid. She has lots of energy, is always laughing and smiling, and is a joy to play with. During our stay, Josephine thought she had a different Aunt Allison (I guess the different hair color through her off) and claimed me as her own. That night, we got take-out for dinner and chatted with Lorraine for a while. Josephine and I spent time playing, drawing, and coloring pictures. ... read more

So, yes….back to ticks and scorpions. While packing up the tent the next morning, guess what just happened to crawl out?? A SCORPION! Yikes! We were sleeping with it! So we took some pictures of it, thanked the baby Jesus that it didn’t hurt us and went on our way. We drove on out of the Lake Euphala Campground and made our way to Arkansas… The Natural State. We had heard on TV that somewhere in Arkansas you can mine your own quartz, diamonds and other gems. We were all over that idea so we looked it up and headed to the Mt. Ida area for the booty. . We pulled over to road side rock shop and went around back where the running water and sand sifters were. We paid 8 bucks for a ... read more

Howdy from Hurricane Mills, TN. I’m semi officially on “Tulsa Time”. I’m in central time, but haven’t reset my watch but will before I call it a night. Had a very smooth and uneventful 1st day. Covered 369 miles today and arrived at the campground just before 4 pm local time (CDT). This KOA campground caters more to folks who are passing through. Many stay only one night. As you will see in the attached photos, they simply start up at the end of a row of pull thru spots and then fill in down the line. Our “toads” stick out a little but no one is going to be driving behind us. As I was setting up, I talked with the neighbor on one side of me. They are from Dunn, NC and he ... read more

Hello everyone - We're staying just outside of Grand Teton National Park tonight, and tomorrow we're hoping to snag a site within the park. Our first night of the trip we stayed at a great little campground in Glendale, Utah. The campground was bordered by apple orchards which were great for playing frisbee. We also got to see (and feed carrots to) a couple burros and a couple alpacas (maybe they were juvenile llamas, I don't know). The girls were great travelers all that way. Last night we were at a national forest campground near Bear Lake, in the upper east corner of Utah. We were up in the aspen with wild roses everywhere, although they were not yet in bloom. We learned that there is a cave just across the Idaho border, which was ... read more
