I know that most of the time I start this blog out by talking about something that happened during the night or some other sort of funny, but tonight I want to start with something more. A blessing! This morning we went to our first locations for bible school. In case you do know we are working 6 locations with 3 different teams. We have a morning and an afternoon service. Terry Lightsey sent word to us that Brennan Wheat had a led a child to Christ today!!!!!! We were ecstatic for this blessing that was shown to us on this trip. Just one soul saved would make the trip well worth. We got back to Mission Arlington for lunch and got to hear the story first hand. Apparently this child had been coming to the ... read more

Sorry the post was so late last night, but we had a long day yesterday with lots to put in. Today was a lot smoother. So I will get started. After I finished last night we had the pleasure of being sernaded by Dominque Clapp and Bro. West. They sang Mighty to Save and they had almost everyone in tears. If you have never heard this young lady sang you have missed out on blessing. We got everyone to sleep and had no events happen during the night. Sorry that no one tripped or we had any funnies to talk about during the night, but the day was different. We got up this morning and sent Rena and Brad back to Wal-mart. A trip has been made to Wal-mart EVERY day. We got all the kids ... read more

Well let me do some catching up on some stuff that I intentionally left out because it was some of my uh-ohs. I have been posting stuff that other people had done but I got reprimanded by some of my fellow adults and was asked to put these in this blog. Saturday night we took the kids to eat at Ci-Ci's pizza, well on the way were are going down this road and they do not have any warning about a hole or dip in the road and we were traveling down this said road with out any warning and we hit this grand canyon. well it did not bother me or the people on like the first few rows but when the back of the bus hit it, it sent the youth on the back ... read more

It has been an amazing day here in Arlington Texas. We got up and got going around 7am, everyone got up raring to go..... We had a time of prayer and scripture before starting the day Scotty told us that a certain verse had been on his mind and I think it will be adopted as our verse for this trip. I Corinthians 15:10 NKJV But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. None of us would be where we are but by the Grace of God. We left the church and went to Mission Arlington’s head quarters and got our assignments we thought ... read more

WOW! What a day!! Left the church a little before 630 this morning.... Got to Jackson and the bus driver, me, and the co-pilot, West Garner, was to busy talking and missed the exit to go to Vicksburg.. We did notice it at the same exact time, and quickly got back on track.. The youth have done great on the the trip we only stopped twice for bathroom breaks, and once to eat.. We did stop at the Texas welcome center and take pictures infront of the Lone Star State. We got into a traffic jam right before Dallas. We finally got to Mission Arlington and got our room assignments.. I was a little nervous after hearing from Fro and Tyler about there last experience here. We are staying at a church and it looks like ... read more

June 3rd 2010 Seven days and counting. The expedition is almost underway. It has taken over a year of hard work and planning to finally reach this point of the voyage. I eagerly await the day Jen and I leave for China. I expect the culture to be unlike any I have ever experienced before. I welcome the change that is on the horizon. It is not in every man's future to be granted the opportunity such as the one I have been given. Wasting the chance to experience life in this way would be a tragedy. I have received complaints about going to a communist country and supporting their economy by studying on foreign soil. I find this to be very hypocritical considering almost all clothing and electronics Americans use come from this communist country. ... read more

So, it is 7:06 a.m. according to the TODAY show and have been awake since 5:36 a.m. I won't sugar today- I'm not too happy right now. My stomach doesn't have butterflies, it's more like angry elephants jumping up and down on a trampoline. I'm chilled and sleepy. I feel a bit better than an hour ago, but I am scared out of my mind right now. But I know it'll be ok. I went to Biblegateway and found this verse on the front page and it is comforting and I refuse to give into fear, which is not from God. “No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also ... read more

So, I just got back from a mandatory orientation for students going to study abroad from UTA. It actually was more helpful than I first thought it would be. I groaned when I had first heard that it was a 4 hour process, but it did not feel that long because we broke for dinner (pizza, yum) and got to talk to each other. We also had this kind cutesy exercise at the beginning where we sat together with other people and talked about expectations or concerns about the place we'd be going to. We had large sheets of butcher paper and crayons and we were supposed to write/draw ideas about it. Yes, this took me back to pre-K- awesome. They had arranged our seats by region/country. My table was empty with only me sitting by ... read more

Cubcake and I went to the Ripley's Believe It Or Not and Palace of Wax. It was a spur of the moment decision after a full two days at Hurricane Harbor and Six Flags Over Texas. The place is TOTAL kitsch and while enjoyable really once you see it once you don't have to see it again. Ever. The first section was the Palace of Wax. The highlight is the plethora of movie stars present, from Star Trek to Dirty Harry to J. Lo. Some are very life-like while others are questionably waxy looking and creepy. Presidents came next, all of them, even the obscure ones like Franklin Peirce and Chester Arthur. Who? By this time it became evident that they ought to hire a stylist. I resisted the urge to just cross over the dividing ... read more
