Welcome! We created this site for friends and family who wish to follow our travels to Europe this Summer 2008. As you likely know, Cindy and I depart from New York on June 25th and arrive in Frankfurt via a brief layover in Amsterdam, where we begin our vacation through Germany, Italy and France. We'll first make our way to Heidelberg, where our parents live with their two dogs Oscar and Doogie. After several days touring Heidelberg and the surrounding area, we board an overnight train to Venice. This will be Cindy's first visit to Venice and Jamie's second (she was there for Carnivale in 1993). After four days in Venice, we head back to Germany for a few days before heading south to Les Contamines-Mont Jois, France. We'll spend several days exploring Lyon, Annecy, Luberon ... read more

I apologize for being MIA for so long. Camp just gets insane towards the end--big trips, Color War and the like all take up a lot of time and energy and I don't have a lot of extra to spend writing. However, the past few weeks have been awesome. Color War ended last night and we were all crying because that means camp is basically over. 4 more days for counselors and then it's back to the real world where we have school and responsibilities that include more than just comforting a homesick child or putting Neosporin on a scrape. In any case, I'm so glad I chose to come here and maybe I'll be able to come back again next summer. I really feel that it has been a beneficial experience for me in terms ... read more

but that's mostly because of how busy we are. We've had The Newlywayne Game, VISITING DAY (goodness that was a long day), Sounds of Wayne, Halloween Party (I was a button) and tomorrow is my second to last day off. I think we're just gonna chill and not worry about anything because on our last day off we went to Ithaca and driving anywhere more than an hour away is stressful for many people involved. I saw Pirates of the Caribbean 2 on staff movie night and it was...disappointing. Not gonna lie. But I had fun anyway. Square dance is Thursday night and I am psyched. Huzzah. Weather here is hot and then tomorrow it's supposed to be 40% chance of T-storms. Mother Nature seriously has something in for the Tuesday Crew. Miss and love you ... read more

We experienced a few beautiful days at camp, but then this morning (of course my day off AND 4th of July) it started raining again. Oh, sole mio! (sp?) Anyway, we're going outlet shopping...must check my bank account...miss you all. ... read more

Hello, all! Sorry I haven't updated in so long. Since the campers arrived, it has been go-go-go ALL THE TIME! My campers are great, very cute, but it is a LOT of work. My age group requires a LOT of attention and energy, but I'm having a lot of fun. I didn't post about all the activities we've had, but I'll kind of just list them off: square dance and bowling party with boys' side counselors, staff show rehearsals, camper auditions for the camp shows, daily activities like MADD and dance&cheer (which is actually super fun, by the way :o) and gymnastics and all kinds of stuff! Today is my day off, which I am very thankful for because it is necessary to take time for ourselves once in a while... On another note, it has ... read more

Orientation started today and it was mostly meetings but some of it was really good. We went over why everyone was there, and I cried because some people have really meaningful reasons as to why they're here. Then we met with our groups and now some of us are going to watch Wet Hot American Summer to get into camp mode. We met the boys' side counselors and they are just like everyone said--mostly good looking but quite rude. That's about it, the movie's starting. Happy Father's Day!... read more

Yesterday the internet was not working so I couldn't update. Sorry about that. However, I can tell you that I spent all day working on the waterfront in the pool with some of the other girls, and that was the last day of pre-camp. Today was a day off, and this morning a few of us went to breakfast and then to Skinner's Falls and lay out, played card games and chilled. A bunch of other girls who had left after us ended up going tubing, so we all kind of convened for a short while until my mini-group came back to camp. Today everyone else is arriving and orientation begins--aaahhh! It should be fun, but less free time so my updates will be less frequent. :o( I'm going to try to figure out how to ... read more

I think it's our fifth day of work or something...Anyway, last night there was a mad game of Bippity Bippity Bop which Heidi and I taught everyone, followed by some Egyptian Ratscrew and the like. Today for work I weeded the backstop of the softball field and a few of us scraped paint and primed the wooden fence by the parking lot. Good times. I also managed to get primer all over myself...Tomorrow is the last day of work and then our day off and then orientation starts! I'm getting nervous about the girls coming, but I think it's going to be fun. That's basically all. Oh, yesterday evening a few of the counselors were walking on campus and there was a black bear on the dining room porch and it ran away. So, Dad, you ... read more

Yesterday was our day off, which was really nice. We went to Wal-Mart (I know, I know, but it's the only place nearby where we could get the stuff we needed...no Target) and got some necessities, and then went to Villa Como aka VC's and had some of the greatest pizza. I don't think it was as good as No Anchovies but it was still really good. The setting was freaky--very much like The Shining. I made Katie come with me to go to the bathroom upstairs. Then yesterday a lot more newbies arrived and we had dinner and then we kind of split up. I hung out at the bunk and enjoyed some girly talk until bedtime. Today it was beautiful in the morning but got cloudy very suddenly an hour or so before ... read more
