A Day To Remember! A wonderful day that will stay in our favorite memory bank forever. Our children and our grandchildren arranged a special day for us to celebrate our 50th Anniversary and 70th Birthdays! What a year of accomplishments....just by living......imagine that! Our wish for celebration was to have our family gather together so we could spend time with one another. Saturday, May 31st, was that day. We all met in Buffalo, New York for a day of entertainment. Cory and I began our lives together in Buffalo, remember? Our son, Cory, and his 3 children, Rachael, Fox & Shenen, drove up from North Carolina. Our son, Tim, and his son, Conner, drove from Rochester. Our daughter, Kim, our son-in-law Jim, and their daughter Haley, also drove from Rochester. Our daughter, Lory, son-in-law Jay, and ... read more

Whoa, Big Fella! What's happening? Where are we? OMG.....we're home! Yes, that's right. Here we are in Shongo....home of the Guenter's.....8:40 P.M. - (the 24th). Flying and bumping along the various highways (treacherous as they were), Cory, the Road Rider Ranger, managed to get us home one day early: safe & sound. Hallelujah! Good job, Bucky! Home, again, Home, again...Hooligan. I hardly had to document any speeding on his part, also. That's saying something. We are welcomed home to "brown stick" scenery, NO snow (Yahoo), Amish buggies, a far off, fading sunset through our bug laden windshield and a large mud hole in our side yard that resembles the bad mudslide in the state of Washington. Too dark to show you the real thing but I have offered substitutions. Remember the water well problem we had ... read more

"It's Beginning To Look Alot Like Christmas -- Everywhere You Go"--- especially if it's to Shongo, NY. We are in a true Winter Wonderland. But not for much longer. After the New Year arrives and the roads stay clear, we shall board our mobile buggy/house and head South. ------ "Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay, My, oh my, what a wonderful day, Plenty of sunshine headin' my way, Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay" ---- But until then, we are making the most of the Christmas season.....as is Lulu. She enjoys all the birds that visit and the critters we feed up in our back field. She even gave her best effort at shoveling snow. Cory appreciated our grandson, Ryan, who did some snow blowing for him while his shoulder heals from rotator cuff surgery. Fingers crossed that he can drive the RV or ... read more

Ahhhhhhh- Autumn is all around us. Each season gives us a new look and perspective. Fall is beautiful....like a sunset in evening but it lasts all day with the beautiful colors that radiate off the hillsides. It gives you a warm feeling even though the temperature outside is cooling. It's a busy time: trimming back the flowering plants that gave us such delight during the summer, storing our "bistro" and porch furniture away (no more afternoon delights), winterizing the RV, mowing over the trillions of fallen leaves. Summer is fun; Autumn is festive. But it seems like a lot of work that goes along with these changing seasons. Next on the agenda will be the snow.....pretty but painful. Fortunately, it signals a bright spot on our horizon: Florida. No work, just play. It doesn't get any ... read more

Hello - Hello - Hello. How have all of you been? We hope each of you have had a warm & sunny & happy summer. We've missed our daily visits with you. It's been so long since I've written on this blog site, I almost forgot my password to get on. Fortunately, I keep a 2 page reference list of passwords.....there has to be a better way. A couple of the trees around us have just started to change color. The brilliant, yellow goldenrod are blooming on our backyard trail. Noooooo - we know what that means. Good-bye, Summer! Where did it go? Actually, our weather remains warm with sunny blue skies...I always say "another Florida sky". Beautiful glowing, red skies end the days. Wonderful....we savor each and every moment of it. It's important to take ... read more

We had such a great ride this past week! Filled with surprises, fun and friendship. Today, we had to watch those wonderful memories roll down the road heading out of town. We have to remind ourselves what Dr. Seuss said: Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened. We are trying to plaster a big, griny smile on our faces but there is a little quiver to the lip. Breakfast today was at Guenter's Grill. Not as good as Denny's but the company was marvelous. We have known Sam & Sandy for just a few years but our close friendship makes it feel like a lifetime. We are so grateful to be able to call them "friends". Yesterday, we took it easy and hung out at Camp Shongo. Time to show Sam & Sandy the ... read more

Tour time today. Our faithful guide, Cory, took us to breakfast at the Castaways, a popular local diner. Now we were ready to venture on. There are no famous points of interest like Niagara Falls, Grand Canyon or Mt. Rushmore right in our town (Gabby Hayes was born here, though). We drove past the "Pink House", ruins of the Sinclair Refinery, the old Button Factory, Air Preheater (where Cory worked). Sam really liked when we stopped at the old Heart's Delight (Scoville Brown) building. Jim, the owner, has transformed it into his shop for restoration and creation of architectural pieces salvaged from old buildings and houses. It's like "Flea Market Flip" but on a much larger and grander scale. You should see some of the great items he has. So unique! Moving on, we visited the ... read more

We are chock-full, jam-packed and full to the brim. We are ready! Cory has packed, unpacked and repacked our trailer trying to find room for everything we want to take. He mumbles and mutters something each time I drag out another special item to add to our inventory. It doesn't sound like "oh, goodie!" Our RV is also packed full so we may have to sleep on the dash until we unload on Sunday. We leave this Saturday for our show in Brimfield, Massachusetts. This is a huge show: 5000 dealers on 20 fields which line Rt. 20 in the town of Brimfield. The dealers come from all across the USA and shoppers come from all over the world. The field we set up on is called The New England Motel field. I think there are ... read more

Thought I'd pop in and say "hi" and send out warm wishes for an early Spring to all of you. It looks and acts like Spring but there's been a frost on the pumpkin these past couple mornings. It's fun watching the many birds flit and flutter around my multitude of bird feeders. They are soooo happy we are back home. The sound of the peepers in the evening is my proof positive that we are in the right direction for warmer weather....also, no snow - that's a plus! We wasted no time getting back into the old routine. Everything was well in order with our house upon our return. We did find a small leak in the piping in our cellar to our ice maker but it was an easy fix. Lots of fallen dead ... read more

Houston, the eagle has landed! We made it home today, safe and sound and in one piece at 2:20 PM. Thank you, God. Of course, we still have some disconnected wires and a missing leveler but no bumps and bruises. Yahoooo. It's kind of cold and drab looking compared to the sunshine and bright lights of Florida but it is home: Home Sweet Home! ....and we are glad to be here. "There's No Place Like Home" rings so true. There are a few hints of Spring: a spot of green grass here and there, a couple tiny blue flowers peeping through the earth and yes, I even saw our first robin....it was dead: frozen to death until it turned black (just kidding). Spring is beginning to spring...but it hasn't quite sprung yet. It was a tough ... read more
