And we were right on the money! On the third day of travel, we arrived at our home in Shongo, NY. Cory pulled into our snow covered driveway on Tuesday, Nov.20th at 3:20 PM. The car kind of slipped and slid on the driveway. Under the fluffy, white stuff was nasty mud. Almost like pigpen mud! Besides the deep white snow on the ground, the snowflakes were sprinkling down all around and adding to the accumulation. Welcome to our home.....to a true winter wonderland. What were we thinking? On Sunday, Nov.18th....we left warm and toasty Florida in our overly packed sedan. The new windshield was so clear. The blue sky was the typical true Florida blue sky. Not a cloud in sight. A hot air balloon had just floated over our RV. We watched it slowly ... read more

Happy New Year Everyone! In with the new and out with the old.....good! good! good! Actually, 2017 was a good year for us UNTIL THE END. We met our desired goal by having our auction to sell off all our antiques & collectibles plus more. Our house and property are in shape to be put on the sales market. Our oldest son, Cory, relocated from N.C. back into our area and continues to work in an accomplished position for the Corning Glass Company. His daughter, Rachael, graduated from college and is pursuing her doctorate at the University of Alabama. Our daughter, Kim, changed jobs from SUNY Geneseo to SUNY Binghamton; enhancing her career. Their daughter, Haley, graduated from high school and began college at Miami University in Ohio. Our daughter, Lory, remains a loyal and important ... read more

UPDATE: You are on notice everyone! Our flight plans are being delayed.....not cancelled but delayed. We are disappointed, too. Lulu is in a state of morbid collapse (she’ll get over it once she thaws out). We must stay strong together and have patience. In my boredom, I found this definition: VIRTURE — An example or kind of moral excellence (the virtue of patience). I guess if we want to remain in the excellent category, we need to remain patient. We have resigned ourselves to it. Have to. “We can only focus on what we can control”.....words by Cory E. Guenter. Our car repair shop called Cory this morning. They got the radiator in but it is the wrong one. Rats! So....they have to order another. AND now we are dealing with the holiday- HAPPY NEW YEAR! ... read more

Okay, folks....our pilot says you can unhook your seatbelts at this time. We are in a holding pattern. What’s going on you ask? Inquiring minds want to know!! Can this be for real??? Well, let’s talk. I’ll give you the grueling details. Of course, we have to start at the beginning: THIS MORNING. As you know, when we picked you up earlier, our plan was to leave for Florida today. Oh, we could feel the extreme excitement in the air with all of you. It was going to be a great day for traveling. Even though the sun was shining, it was very nippy outside when loading all our last minute items plus all your baggage. I don’t want to say that you “come with a lot of baggage” but.....just kidding. Temperature this morning was a ... read more

Hellloooooo Everyone! It’s so good to be back again with you. It’s been such a long time. We have missed all of you. We hope each of you have had a good and healthy summer. We are still appreciating the lingering warm weather. We are pretending the fallen, colorful leaves are a new kind of flower that continues to bloom. Its fun to live in a fantasy world. BEWARE: this blog will be a biggie, a super biggie....Just so much to catch up on. Time for you to settle into a comfy chair, grab a tasty drink and treat and then, let my ramblings begin. You can rest your eyes as needed....we don’t want to burn them out! “Moderation” is not a word that comes easily to me with just about anything I do....it’s like “all ... read more

Hope you've kept your traveling clothes on. Buckle up and enjoy the ride. I think you are going to have fun our last adventure with my cousin Paul. That is if you like boats and fish. And pretty scenery. So off we go....???into the wild blue yonder????? Paul should be an activities director...he researches interesting places, maps them out with his Atlas ( yes, he still uses a hard copy Atlas) and sets out for a new & fun experience with no hesitation. This time, we are all going along in his caravan. The day is beautiful: bright sunshine, warm weather and gorgeous and colorful leaves to see on every hillside and in every front yard. Sunglasses required. Perfect. We head to Keuka Lake (one of the NY State Finger Lakes....most folks think there are 5 ... read more

Yahoos.....Time to catch up with all of you. Hope you all have been fine. I bet you've been wondering where we've been. Never wanting to stress you out! No fear - we are here! Underdog, the cartoon character, used to say a similar quote. I liked Underdog. My cousin, Paul, came for a visit last week. I only have 2 cousins (small family). My other cousin, Maryellen, lives in Cary, N.C. One of Paul's planned activities, while here, was to run in our local RidgeWalk & Run as he has done in previous years. I think most of you met Paul before. He and his wife, Clare, visited with us last January in Florida. They were in some of my blogs. He's the guy who rented the new, fancy, red Corvette convertible so they could cruise ... read more

Our surroundings are so pretty in our neck of the woods. I bet you have the same gorgeous backdrop. However, it is also a reminder of what is yet to come. Fortunately, our journey south to Florida will begin after Christmas. Yahoo. Until then, we shall enjoy the brightly painted leaves and the soft, white snowflakes when they decide to visit. Note I said " visit" ....they can't stay long ...they need to leave at some point. Cory has our RV scheduled for its check up and winterization. Someone new has bought this RV place where we have taken our unit all these years. Hope they are good so we can still use them for our service work. We'll see. I've been slowly trying to downscale some of the "stuff" in the RV. Mostly the multitude ... read more

Our first few travels today will keep you within the confines of Allegany County (NY). A very tiny part of the globe but you have to start somewhere. No place like home. Buckle up....we're on the road again. You might want to pack a lunch cause we are going to several venues. But, if you like garlic....don't bother. You can eat a ton of it at one of the festivals. Take your seat in the back of the vehicle if you plan on chomping down on those delectable but stinky white bulbs. A simple trip to our K-Mart (unfortunately we do not have a Walmart....but that's another story) offered us a fun experience. In their parking lot, there was a display festival by our local & surrounding fire, ambulance & police departments. They gave free rides ... read more

Just keep in mind, we ARE getting out of the antique business ..YES, WE ARE! No kidding. Then, why in the world would we be going to an auction plus an Estate Sale? Just for the social aspect of it, I guess plus I thought maybe you would like to go. We haven't been to an auction in a long time and this one was THEE one to go to. So grab your lawn chair and sunglasses....we are leaving now! This auction was a 2-day auction. That gives you your first clue that it is a biggy. It began on this past Friday at 4:00 PM. It continued on to Saturday starting at 9:30 AM. We went both times. The couple who lived on this beautiful farmette were friends of ours through "the business". The kind ... read more
