Thought I'd pop in and say "hi" and send out warm wishes for an early Spring to all of you. It looks and acts like Spring but there's been a frost on the pumpkin these past couple mornings. It's fun watching the many birds flit and flutter around my multitude of bird feeders. They are soooo happy we are back home. The sound of the peepers in the evening is my proof positive that we are in the right direction for warmer weather....also, no snow - that's a plus!

We wasted no time getting back into the old routine. Everything was well in order with our house upon our return. We did find a small leak in the piping in our cellar to our ice maker but it was an easy fix. Lots of fallen dead sticks and branches throughout the yard....typical. Cory took our RV up to Caledonia, NY for its needed repairs.....remember our leveler problem encountered just as we were leaving Florida. We pick it back up on May 1st. Cory has been working like a pack rat stashing our various wares into our trailer to take to the Brimfield show. We leave on May 11th and will

return May 21st. Even though we have enough inventory to last us until we tire of this gypsy occupation, we found ourselves drawn to a large country auction the other afternoon. This auction was held at the old, long-vacated poorhouse that was a refuge for many in our county of Allegany (Allegany County Home). It began in the mid 1800's and closed to harboring the paupers in the 1960's. After that, it housed some of the County Social Service Agencies but they moved out in the 1980's. Since then, it has had a couple owners but nothing ever happened to rejuvenate the eerie and dank looking concrete structures. If only those walls could talk......all they do now is collapse and fall down. I wandered the grounds as well as traipsing throughout the inside of these connected, decaying buildings. It was oppressive to say the least. Talk about going from "rot to ruin". It was a fun auction, though, and as usual, we found a few treasures to haul home. Brimfield here we come!

Today, we went to an Estate Sale - again, picking up, a couple more prizes for the show. We were in and out of the sale

within an hour so headed on to our next destination: Hot Dog Day in Alfred, NY. Alfred is a small community with 2 large colleges. Each year, they celebrate Hot Dog Day with the prime treat being, you guessed it, Hot Dogs! And they are yummy. There are other tent covered, curbside eateries as well as various "gifty" items for sale. It draws a huge crowd. That alone, makes it seem like one big festive party. We wandered the crowds, devoured our hot dogs before making our way to a high perch above the local coffee shop. We spent a couple hours sitting up there, siping their expresso and watching the throngs of people meander below us. It was just like being back at the "Backwater Bar" at Universal Studios - just at a more elevated level and without all the extreme rides dotting the background.

FYI: Spring peepers are found in wooded areas and grassy lowlands near ponds and swamps in the central and eastern parts of Canada and the United States. These loud amphibians are rarely seen, but as temperatures begin to rise in March and April, the males certainly are heard. Their peep… peep… peep creates

an other-worldly whistling sound that, to many, is the first sign of spring. I hope you hear the peepers tonight.
