Houston, the eagle has landed! We made it home today, safe and sound and in one piece at 2:20 PM. Thank you, God. Of course, we still have some disconnected wires and a missing leveler but no bumps and bruises. Yahoooo. It's kind of cold and drab looking compared to the sunshine and bright lights of Florida but it is home: Home Sweet Home! ....and we are glad to be here. "There's No Place Like Home" rings so true. There are a few hints of Spring: a spot of green grass here and there, a couple tiny blue flowers peeping through the earth and yes, I even saw our first robin....it was dead: frozen to death until it turned black (just kidding). Spring is beginning to spring...but it hasn't quite sprung yet. It was a tough winter this year. Our travels getting here yesterday were mixed: good and bad, again. GOOD: We found a wonderful flea market in Virginia that drew us to a complete stop. We shopped and bought for over two hours...forgetting we were on a mission to get home. Cory even bought a gas pump....it was tricky to pack but we have finally hoisted it onto the roof of the RV and we are good to go. Joking...it is only 2" tall. Maryland provided us with something we won't see for many months: our final buffet! We stopped at a Ryan's restaurant and indulged in their unending cornucopia of all the food groups; plus some...saying good-bye to each bite of food we took. This is where it gets BAD. While savoring my final lap of ice cream I felt a crunch in my mouth. No crunchies in the ice cream so right off I knew my fate. Rats! The entire buccal side of my upper left first bicuspid (FYI: one time I studied to be a dental hygienist) broke off! Nooooooo. Just like an open picture window into my disgustingly overfilled tooth. Don't you just hate it when stuff like this happens? I quickly probed the area with my tongue....why does it feel like a big bat cave on the side of a jagged cliff? I spit out my enormous (seems enormous) plate of enamel and preserved it in my table napkin. I think there is still a tooth fairy, right? - just in case. I clutched the edge of the table, waiting for the ultimate
Roads Traveled- Comparison
Allegany County Road (home) & Florida road to Webster extreme pain to explode in my mouth.....ready to do my Lamaze breathing routine. Nothing....no pain? - no suffering? - no torture?...but the table was wood and I am still knocking on wood. No more smiling until I finish with my dentist....I called en route and he will see me tomorrow: Tuesday. Just call me "Snaggletooth"...or in the words of Kramer: "I'm hideous"! I bought some Super Glue at the closest Wal-Mart and was going to glue the lonely shard to my remaining stub but the dentist said not to....beauty is only skin deep .....just keep your mouth shut - does he really know what he's asking? Crippled and anxious, we headed homeward bound. We were going to stay at a campground in Carlisle, PA. but somehow never found the exit. Too much anxiety for good concentration. We made our way to Harrisburg where the "Next Exit" app. showed another stop-over location. We got off but got lost....not too bad but it is never good when you are cruising around in an apparatus about 54 feet long (RV + car). We finally found the Harrisburg campground in the direction of Hershey. It was one of those tricky ones to get into....one
Heading Home
It's not 192...it's just 19 - missing all the sights but it is where we live: Shongo, on Route 19 South where you know the owner never drove a big motor home. Reservations he asked! Are you kidding...the only reservation we have is with my dentist. We pulled into one of the 15 open pull-through sites....reservations, my eye! We've had enough. Morning came and we were gone. There was a beautiful hedge of forsythia lining the exit out but not enough to lessen our anxious refrain of Let's Go Home! .....and that's what we did. Hooray.
So folks, this ends our get together's for awhile. There are 260 days before the New Year begins so I may pop in once in awhile just to say "hi". Keep yourselves happy and healthy. "Laughing is good exercise. It's like jogging on the inside". Once my tooth is fixed, I am going to laugh my head and everything else off in hopes of laughing some of my many buffet bulges away. I hope I have been able to make you laugh on occasion with some of our antics. We had fun experiencing them. And more fun knowing you were right there with us sharing them all. See you around sometime.
