Hi, all! Well, we left Wed, June 21 at 8 pm from AUstin. We drove thru the night up hwy 84 thru Lubbock and Clovis, NM and on to Santa Fe. Michelle made the grave mistake of taking a Benedryl early on in the drive, leaving me to Zombie drive thru the Texas panhandle. We arrived in Santa Fe after making a brief stop in Pecos, NM to acquire a national parks pass, which gives one unlimited access to national parks for one year (it typically costs $20 to even drive thru a national park). My frugality (a.k.a. cheapness) has already kicked in because I figured out that this will save us $10 over the course of the trip. Upon arriving in Santa Fe at around noon on Thurs, we had a quick meal and then ... read more

We were kind of happy and well rested and relaxed once we disembarked at LA, we had the very delightful surprise of being upgraded to First Class from Tahiti, the front row too - so the 10 hour flight flew by! Don’t ask how or why - it’s a long story! No matter how many road movies and Westerns we have seen, nothing could have prepared us for this amazing corner of South West USA, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado - huge open vistas of vermillion red buttes, mesas and canyons and never ending desert arid flatlands. We wanted to spend most of our time in New Mexico so had to high tail it through Arizona via Tucson in a couple of days enduring over the top temperatures of 116oF, in Tucson it was 85oF ... read more

I believe New Mexico is my favorite state in the whole country. Going there just fills my soul with wonder and an unbelievable beauty, it is truly refreshing. My uncle lives in an adobe house in bernallio, just outside Albuquerque so we started into town the first day to look at some high end pottery shops we cant afford!! Sandia Peak tramway is a must do adventure because it's one of the longest in the world and offers some truely fantastic views. The ski lift is also great because it gives you yet another beautiful view of the surronding countryside. The next day it was off to Tent Rocks which is one of my favorite places. It has a truely fantastic and short hike that takes you through canyon like formations and then up and ... read more

Mom and I loaded up the car (well...I loaded up the car) and we headed south to Santa Fe. The scenery was lovely. Lots of rolling hills and blue skies. We hit a more desert-like area and some some really cool buttes. What mental age does it make me if I find the word butte kind of humerous? Anyway, the best part of the desert-esque drive was the New Mexico signage. Man, can they do it right! There was one of those traffic signs that you see warning you about a pile-up or an upcoming detour. In New Mexico, though, it was informing us of today's wildfire danger level. Here's what is said. view 1: EXTREME WILDFIRE DANGER view 2: Every Where Well, alright. On the same line, up in the Midwest, Smokey the Bear warns ... read more

Hi All Well it has been a while since the last blog. We have had a few enquiries as to where we are. I don’t know how the time goes so fast. I think “oh it’s to soon to do another one yet” and then before we know it, we have been everywhere and have so much to tell, Well, here we go……….. Guess what? We didn’t quite make it out of Mexico for Easter after all. Our last stop in Mexico was to be at San Carlos for a night or two. Graeme was desperate to return there as we knew we could get the rig washed and polished for the very reasonable price of 300 peso. We had waited to have this done until we knew that the end of the Mexican dust bath ... read more

Again arriving before the monument opened, I was somewhat disappointed as I had gotten up early so I could get some pictures of the sunrise out in the White Sands. Oh well. I had to settle for some pictures by the side of the road. After entering White Sands I head straight for the only hiking trail of any real distance in the park, the Alkali Flat Trail. Eventually the road turns to compacted sand, which I find out later is maintained by heavy equipment during the day as the sand is ever moving and trying to cover the road. I was the first to arrive at the trail so I had it all to myself. The trail is a little over a four mile loop and instead of being guided by signs or rock markings, ... read more

Today I was on the road by about 6:15 AM local time, a pattern that thankfully for the most part would continue for the rest of my trip. Driving west on I-20 out of Sweetwater there was a peculiar smell in the air...burning oil. I'm assuming it had to do with all the oil wells and refineries I saw along the highway. Just a guess. I had to stop on the side of the road and get the picture of the sunrise. The picture really doesn't do the sunrise justice as the entire horizon was glowing a bright orange. Pretty much the best sunrise I've ever seen. I arrived at Pecos, TX and then headed north on 285. Probably because I wasnt driving as fast on this road I spotted my first cactus. I had arrived ... read more

Basically....I have what is called blog lag. Or I'm just a lazy bitch. One of the two. So I am not planning to make this very long. I am home in 3 days, then that will be my last blog....for now. Until next time I start traveling again. I know that I haven't written to you in a while, but I'm EXAUSTED! I am so ready to be home with my peeps and eat some good food. I have realized that even though I love you all, good vegetarian food is what I miss the most. Sorry. We had some really great shows in Wisconsin. It was getting a lot warmer there, in the 60s and 70s. The scenery was fantastic. I have lots of pictures of trees, which afterwards don't look as exciting. There is ... read more

Ikke desto mindre ... read more

Man bruger åbenbart bl.a. området til at vise astronauterne, ... read more
