Saturday, June 20 (White Mountains Day 2): Today is our day to tour the Northern and part of the Central regions of the White Mountains. First, we headed up to Lancaster to check out the Fuller’s Sugarhouse and their real maple syrup. Lancaster was a nice small town and Fuller’s had a great assortment of maple syrups and products. We ended up buying a larger jug of medium amber for our girls and smaller jugs of light amber and Grade B for us. Soon after we left Lancaster on our way to see the Mt. Washington Cog Railway, we noticed a car stopped on the right side of the road with what appeared to be 3 ladies. Figuring at first that they had car trouble, I slowed down and realized that they were stopped to photograph ... read more

My flight left at 5am in the morning and I flew to Minneapolis where I sat next to a family who was going to Las Vegas on a on-the-spur-trip. I sat next to a little girl who had not flown before and we talked the whole way, she was a 6th grader, I then found my flight in Minneapolis and flew to Chicago where I sat next to an older couple who just got back from vacation in Hawaii. I had a longer layover where I got something to eat and waited till my flight to Boston where I sat next to a boy my age who was from Boston and had a thick accent! I tried to get as much sleep as I could because I did not sleep at all the night before! I ... read more

Friday, June 19 (White Mountains Day 1): We got up early enough today, but having noticed a Jeep dealer nearby, we’d decided to have an overdue oil change done and the tires checked. The mechanic said the tires had some wear left on them, but that the front brakes were in need of replacement, with 2mm left. I told them I’d like to get it done now, but that we were on vacation and didn’t want to lose the 3 hours or so it would take to do. Happily, the service guy told us they’d left us have a free loaner for the day, so we jumped in their KIA Sportage and away we went, around 10am. We decided to drive south and east on smaller roads rather than the Interstate so we could check on ... read more

Thursday, June 18 (Boston KOA to Littleton/Lisbon KOA): We left the Boston/Cape Cod KOA about 9am, heading towards our next KOA in Littleton, New Hampshire, with stops along the way at Laconia and Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. We stopped in Laconia to visit my mother’s grave, then on to Wolfeboro to visit the town where I was born. I can’t say I was born and raised there, since I only lived there a couple weeks after I was born. Wolfeboro or Wolfeborough depending on where you look, is America’s oldest resort town. Although still quite small, it does have a certain charm, being on Lake Winnipesaukee and still comprised of mostly older buildings. We browsed the shops a bit, then decided to have lunch at the Wolfeboro Diner. I had one of my old favorites that my ... read more

Hello and welcome to Fish and Av's official travel blog page. The others are fakes. We invite you to follow us on our journey from NH to the rest of the world. I don't know how this page works yet but if you can feel free to comment! No foul language please, parents and small children may be reading this. If we don't write for a month or more we probably either died or got back and stopped writing in it. Love to all!... read more

Pan Pan Pan, this is element quest, element quest, element quest... we are in distress Dear jesus please make those words stop swirling around in my head in the same fashion as the red bull can floating in the corner of my room. The possibility of death was great, in my mind and my heat. The boys will tell you another story but to watch a boat fill with at least 4 feet of water spraying in ever direction you'd feel the same too. We're all ok for the most part. I have a strong feeling that whiplash, bumps bruises and strained muscles will haunt our bodies for weeks to come. I'm still on the boat, by the time this entry will have been posted I should be on my way back home again by car. But ... read more

Holey %$#@! We're sailing out today and its scary business. The weather is bad and the mood on the boat seems to me to be sheer terror. I'm listening to the new nofx album wrapping up loose ends in Portsmouth then we're off to New York. We're going to do a quick run through in the rain when I get back. It feels a little like everyones always waiting on me but I may be mildly neurotic, maybe. Not much else to say. We're off we're out and i can feel the waves rolling in the pit of my stomach already. We'll be sailing through the night until we get to the Hudson. I really did expect to be here until Wednesday by the way conversations were going yesterday. Deep breath and its time to learn ... read more

Its been an interesting past few nights, sailing out still seems like a distant and unreal event. The weathers been perfect here, sunny days, cool crisp nights but apparently its all going to change quickly. We're still waiting for banks and lawyers to settle things out so we'll be leaving at the latest wednesday. In the mean time our collection of local friends is growing. I'm going to miss this place. We've recently adopted a few young fishermen from the pier, which has been more than entertaining. And trust me, in a situation such as this, entertainment is the key. We've watched crew come and go as they have to go back to their normal everyday lives and its odd. The tension finally broke yesterday with the first official meeting and beginning ceremonies. champagne enjoyed after ... read more

Getting ready to set sail tomorrow.. tensions are still high but so are hopes. Nothing a little blue sky can't cure. Living in this town must be a simpler life. Young kids don't seem to be wreckless and out of control. Everything is closed on Sundays and people stroll through the park while 'raindrops keep falling on my head' plays on a stereo run by an elderly couple holding hands. This as all described to me by Ashely, the whole experience has been a little too comforting. Is it really that great? Are there hidden evils, its all a little too perfect. But maybe thats what sea side living is all about. I'm beginning to get a little frustrated with the fact that I can't upload pictures in bulk using facebook or travel blog. It means ... read more
