Arrived safe and sound yesterday. Took about 3 hours to get to camp. There are 5 other "internationals" as they call us! Everyone is very friendly and I have two days to relax before I start training on Monday. Went to Peterborough "A good place to live" according to the sign! Not much there but there is a bar which hopefully I will see at some point. Staying in one of the yurts - bit like a big tent but with camp beds. Very hot and humid here and the mosquito's have already taken a liking to me! Off to explore now and try not to get myself lost ........ read more

Now that I've been out of college and working for two years I finally have the means to do some traveling. Unfortunately I don't have the free time I used to two years ago, it took some hard work, planning and creative thinking to find it. After stashing away my vacation hours like a pack rat, and working out deals with my awesome just in case they read this ;-) bosses I managed to piece together 36 days (16 days-accrued vacation, 12 days-weekends & holidays, 5 days-borrowed vacation, and 3 days-advanced work time) so that I could go on a decent vacation. Home for a few days to meet up with the fam and see some friends. Made me miss New England a lot, I drove from Boston to NH in a complete snowstorm which was really pretty and then of course everything was crisp and white in NH with the new snow everywhere. I went skiing and realized how much I missed that too, such a great way to spend a day (and with great friends too ...thanks Pete and Jane). Unfortunately Jane took a spill, so I thought it was only polite to do the same, but I took it a little further and dislocated my right shoulder when I fell...I popped it back in and had to become a lefty for a few days.
