Well this morning in Augustya Maine was really interesting. Someone tried to kidnap my Llama, I had to yell after them and tell them to put it back. I was amazed how many students tried to steal my pens and the like. It really blew my mind, I mean they would walk up, pick up a pen and try and walk away. I mean there are not even good pens, just generic ones that I bought at wal-mart. I was not the only rep who had people trying to take stuff. Someones pennant got taken and she tracked the student down to get it back. Good for her! On the way back I stopped in on Leah and got some of the frisbees that I need to get for the alumni reunion next weekend. I ... read more

Day 6 – Saturday - Nashua, New Hampshire Let's see, an early (ish) start for us, as we were supposed (SUPPOSED) to meet Karen at 8am. But after a case of missing sneakers (Kalea's not mine lol) and a runaway dog Roo & I were marvelling that Karen hadn't yet called us as we finally pulled out of Roo's place already 20 minutes late (that is until Roo discovered her cell phone was off hahaha). We finally met up with Karen (and her 10 month old Jocelyn) at Dunkin Donuts (mmmmm great breakfast rolls and iced coffees ha!). So Dean rode with Roo (and Kalea & Makena) and I rode with Karen & Jocelyn up to Deb's place in Nashua NH. Now, have to admit, I was wondering if Karen & I would have enough ... read more

The snows that the meteorologists promised for the Denver area didn't come. When I woke up at 6:00, I jumped to the window and breathed a sigh of relief to notice that the sky was cloudy and not a flake of snow had fallen overnight. Not bothering to eat breakfast because I was to anxious to get on the plane, I checked out of the hotel and made my way to Denver International Airport. Once at my gate, I sat and waited, listening to people make cell phone calls. One woman was saying how another airline, in anticipation of the snow, canceled all their flights this morning. Ouch. Our plane finally arrived right on time and we filed on. I sat in the last row with a man who is a pilot for Southwest. The woman ... read more

I finally earnt a week off work and was joined by my Dad, his wife Andrea and her daughter Jordan. They spent two nights at Sargent Center from which we took a trip to Springfield, MA to see the birthplace of Dr Seuss and to explore his memorial garden. I enjoyed having my picture taken with the Lorax! We then drove 8 hours up to Niagra Falls and were rewarded with great weather and a fantastic view of the falls. It was very quiet so we were able to explore without masses of tourists. I have to say though that this was my third visit and I think that is enough for me! For the rest of the week we went to Vermont and New Hampshire and visited the Ben & Jerry's ice cream factory, the ... read more

Down to 2 weeks and 5 days before we head for a month long trip to China. Our plans are to spend several days in Hong Kong then go inland to Guangzhou. In Guangzhou we will look at taking a large nighttime bus with individual sleeping compartments to travel to my wife’s city. After we arrive in my wife’s home city we will spend a great deal of time with her family and then we make take a day trip to the island of Hainan. Hainan is a short distance from my wife’s home city and the country side on this island is extremely beautiful. I hope we may have the opportunity to take both my wife’s parents to visit Hainan since they have yet to see this beautiful island. ... read more

Well the plane tickets are purchased, our VISA's have arrived and our passports are all in order. We will first be flying to Newark, NJ and then off to Honk Kong. We will be staying in Hong Kong for several days and then we will head in land to mainland China, to visit my wives family.... read more

Well since my last blog I have been busy settling in to my new role as a School Program Assistant at the Boston University Sargent Center for Outdoor Education. I am enjoying the work and have been able to train as a course leader on some of our high elements - the Northern ropes course and the climb tower. Weekends have been rather hectic with working for the conference program but I have managed a few trips. I recently went and hiked in the White Mountains with my friend Cheryl. It was in the peak of the fall foliage and was a gorgeous day with amazing views as we hiked Mount Welch and Mount Dickey. Still haven't made it to Mount Washington but will definitely do this one in the Spring. I am also getting into ... read more
