Thursday, June 18 (Boston KOA to Littleton/Lisbon KOA):
We left the Boston/Cape Cod KOA about 9am, heading towards our next KOA in Littleton, New Hampshire, with stops along the way at Laconia and Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. We stopped in Laconia to visit my mother’s grave, then on to Wolfeboro to visit the town where I was born. I can’t say I was born and raised there, since I only lived there a couple weeks after I was born. Wolfeboro or Wolfeborough depending on where you look, is America’s oldest resort town. Although still quite small, it does have a certain charm, being on Lake Winnipesaukee and still comprised of mostly older buildings. We browsed the shops a bit, then decided to have lunch at the Wolfeboro Diner. I had one of my old favorites that my mom used to make for me, liver and onions. It was very good and tender, and came with bacon, a baked potato, and cole slaw, all for $7.99. Manoli had a salad with grilled shrimp, which she said was ok. As we neared Laconia, and pretty much continuously since then, we’ve seen motorcycle after motorcycle. I had found out in my trip research, that this

week is Bike Week in Laconia, so it wasn’t that surprising, but there sure were a lot of them! After lunch, we continued our trip to the KOA, stopping once in North Woodstock at the visitor’s center to pick up some brochures for our time nearby. We arrived at the Littleton/Lisbon KOA just above Franconia Notch and very close to the Vermont border. We’d stayed here a good many years ago with the girls and things hadn’t changed that much. They added a porch next to the office where there were some bushes that often had hummingbirds flitting around the time we were here, and still have some feeders, but I haven’t seen any yet this time. The KOA has a decent game room, laundry, heated pool and even a Jacuzzi. They have free WiFi, but apparently it doesn’t reach our Kabin, so we’ll have to go to the porch to use the internet. While Manoli did some laundry, I drove back into Littleton to pick up dinner from Quiznos Sub and a movie (Gran Torino) from the nearby Wal-Mart. Tomorrow we start our two-day exploration of the White Mountains. Unfortunately, it supposed to rain most of the day and

evening tomorrow and about a 30 percent chance on Saturday. We’ll just have to schedule things we can do and see under both conditions.
