Good morning all! This blogging my vacation has proved to be harder than I thought! Last time I blogged our vacation, I didn’t have 2 little busy girls! However, between Shayla and myself, we will get to blogging! ? So today’s blog, I will go back to Vegas, even though we are currently in California. ? I was so determined to get my girls to the Vegas strip, to see The M&M store! They also got to see a few things they shouldn’t have, ya know, the “card flickers” ?, The show girls walking around with very pretty pink feathers and not much else on! Ri really liked those.? Even got to see some nice guys in long brown robes. ? We also took our first Uber! The girls did fantastic with all of the walking... ... read more

Before I start let me say that this is my first visit to Vegas and I expect that a lot of readers have been here before. So, let me give you my take on it from my perspective only. Vegas does everything bigger and better. I knew that before I came. Leanne, Craig and Ray are all seasoned campaigners from various tours of Sin City and I’d heard about a lot of the fun that can be had here. To start with, you may know there are some casinos. Well, you can do that if you want, but it doesn’t seem like the best way to spend your time here. Wander into the casinos to see the themed buildings and free shows. Vegas can be very expensive, but this is one way to have fun on ... read more

" Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer." Unknown. Routing. Highway 215 out of San Diego and then highway 15 to Las Vegas. Distance: 531 km. Total distance to date: 1206 km. It was with heavy hearts that we left the Californian Coast and San Diego, in particular. This city had enchanted all of us and apart from the places visited and experiences enjoyed by all, it has an exceptional climate best encapsulated in Albert Hammond's song "It never rains in Southern California." Indeed. This city has on average 300 mm rainfall per annum but the real beauty of the place is that the sun shines on roughly 146 days of the year. As the coastal haze disappeared behind us as we threaded our way up HW 215, it was a timely ... read more

Hello Everyone! Greetings from sunny Las Vegas! We are camping at the Main Street Casino RV Resort and it is actually just a parking lot with hook ups! It is a short walk to Fremont Street which is the old strip in Vegas. The Fremont Street Experience, as they call it, is very unique and everyone should probably see it once, although once may be too much! See some picks below for details, but I can tell you that apparently it is not illegal to be naked out in public in Las Vegas! It seems that you do have to wear pasties and some kind of a cover for your private parts down below, but everything else can be right out there. Yikes! We had a great meal at Joes Steakhouse inside Caesar's on Wednesday and ... read more

Did you know this about Nevada? Most of you have been to Reno or Las Vegas, perhaps numerous times. I doubt if I can tell you anything new, except for these somewhat "unknown" facts. Nevada is our driest state, receiving less than 10 inches of rain annually. Nevada is the largest golf producer in the nation, and second only to South Africa worldwide. The dark skies in Nevada create perfect nights for stargazing. More gold comes form Nevada than California. In Spanish, Nevada means "snow-capped." The sum of all the numbers on a roulette wheel total 666. More shrimp, 60,000 pounds daily, are consumed in Las Vegas than the rest of the country combined! Blue jeans (Levi's) were invented in Reno by a tailor, Jacob Davis a Latvian immigrant. ... read more

Las Vegas day 2 and tbh my tolerance level for this place was one day. We go down for breakfast at 8 am. The restaurant is in the corner of the casino which is already full of gamblers and a surprising number of people drinking beer. Even in my hardcore student days, I don’t recall having beer for breakfast. The hotel breakfast consists of a ‘basket of pastries’. I haven’t seen a fruit or vegetable since we entered Nevada. Junk food consumed, we take the monorail to the top of the strip to Stratosphere and pay $57 to spend 30 seconds in a lift to the top of the tower. Then to Circus Circus to watch a man ‘free ladder’. People around us are excited – they recognise him from America’s Got Talent. I assume he ... read more

From the insane natural beauty of Death Valley, today we visit the man made craziness of Las Vegas. It’s a chilly minus 6 degrees when we set off on the 120 mile journey with 90 miles of fuel, assuming there will be somewhere to fill up en route. 30 miles in and nothing but desert in sight, we are considering turning round, when we spot an Alien Center which also sells fuel (we are on the edge of Area 51). We reach Las Vegas by 11 am and go for brunch at Planet Hollywood. The old man moans that it costs $20, then polishes off 5 platefuls. We walk south along the strip, past the various themed hotels; Paris Las Vegas with its Eiffel Tower, New York-New York with its Statue of Liberty and roller coaster, ... read more

What happens in Vegas, right? I’m about to tell you. And that’s because I don’t have much to tell. We got in late at our hotel last night—Harrah’s, which is, as most hotels on the Las Vegas Strip are, a casino with a hotel attached. I booked this hotel because I wanted to be on the Strip, but I also needed the room to be not so expensive. And this room was not. It was $60 with taxes added, so I considered myself quite lucky. But then they add a resort fee, which isn’t in the price listed. And then there’s a fee to park, and if you want Wi-Fi, you gotta pay for that, too. So, just staying at the hotel amounted to twice what I thought I was paying, and that didn’t include Wi-Fi. ... read more
