Geo: 41.8861, -87.6364Today we awoke ready to complete our time in Chicago before we moved onto our next stop. As we had to check out we skipped breakfast and headed straight to the Willis tower - which interestingly we discovered was renamed Willis tower from Sears towers as a London company who occupy a floor had requested it and as Sears no longer occupied any floor the suggestion was taken (as Simon would say he who doesn't ask...!) . We took the elevator to the top floor and witnessed amazing panoramic views across Chicago. There was also a glass ledge which you could walk out onto which elevated you to 103 floors from the ground.By now the sun was most definitely up and the temperatures were soaring. Geo: 41.8861, -87.6364Today was a long day, really it started the evening before. We left Ipswich by train at about 9:15 headed for London. After getting into Liverpool Street about an hour later we caught the underground to Heathrow - finally arriving at the airport at about 11:30.Our flight wasn't schedule to leave until 7:45 the following morning, so we had quite a lot of time to kill. Spending the night in a quite airport with just ourselves, the cleaners, and a handful of other nocturnal souls we set about killing time. Arriving in Chicago was a bit nerve racking to say the least. We approached the city at about 10:00pm after spending about 15 hrs. on the road driving from Boston. Needless to say we were both pretty tired so when all of a sudden we were thrown into bumper to bumper 8 lane highway traffic and needed to get to the far right lane to exit the highway. I was definitely feeling uncomfortable and stressed to put it mildly. Of course Dale did an excellent job getting us there safely as per usual. After checking into our hotel we set out to find somewhere to eat and ended up catching the Chicago Blackhawks overtime win that put them into the Stanley Cup Finals. Ten post szczególnie dedykujemy Leszkowi :)) / Due to economical and ‘poznawczy’ reasons we’ve chosen the train as a mean of transport between Chicago and New York. That was a little optimistic (our butts…) but fascinating at the same time J We just hope the trains in Poland will reach that standard some day.... read more

Lever à 3h15, petit déjeuner, on fait nos adieux à la famille qui nous a gentiment hébergé pendant trois jours. Le taxi arrive à 4 heures et nous partons pour l'aéroport ou nous arrivons à 4 heures 30. Enregistrement des bagages avec passage à la douane pour pouvoir se rendre aux Etats-Unis. Attente un peu longue pour embarquer et après pour décoller. Finalement, décollage à 8h40 et atterrissage à 9 heures 55, mais à Chicago il n'est que 8h55. On récupère notre voiture de location, une Toyota Corolla, alors que sur la réservation il était prévu une Dodge Avenger,... ou similaire. Le compteur affiche 26 756 miles Nous arrivons finalement à l’hôtel à 10 heures. les chambres ne sont pas encore prêtes (normalement après 15 heures sur la réservation, donc pas de surprise).
