In my first year as cabin crew I think I ventured to Chicago almost every month. One month I actually went four times in a row. Was just such a nice trip. I normally prefer heading east to the likes of japan and Singapore but when it comes to America there is just something about Chicago. Such a great city. So I was so excited to be heading back on a trip after almost two years having not been there. We only get about 24hours there, so it is just a nightstop. St-Joseph, Michigan, 11 juillet Ces trois jours passés dans la grande cité du Mid-West furent fantastiques! Avec ses 8 millions d'habitants, l'agglomération urbaine de Chicago est la troisième en importance aux États-Unis (derrière New-York et Los Angeles) mais l'éternelle rivale de la Grosse Pomme, d'où son surnom. On l'appelle aussi «the windy city» en raison des conditions climatiques que favorisent la proximité du lac Michigan. Pour ma part, c'est surtout son impressionnante architecture et ses gratte-ciels à vous tordre le cou qui m'impressionnent ici. Depuis plus d'un siècle, les bâtisseurs de ces cathédrales modernes ont rivalisé d'imagination pour édifier ces tours qui défient la gravité! I wasn't going to write another blog but this traveling home business is worthy of something. We began at 430 in the morning in Cork. Were kindly driven to the airport for our 635am flight. Thankfully took off on time. We took the Stansted Express to the middle of London & the underground to Heathrow. We had to 'mind the gap' a few times as we changed lines & trains. The guy at the Stansted ticket desk wasn't kidding. Took ~2hrs total.our flight to Chicago was delayed because the plane didn't arrive on time. The flight itself was mostly uneventful. Geo: 41.8861, -87.6364Today, we drove from Madison, WI to Chicago and arrived in the city around 9:30 am. I had found, through a search on the internet, that you could park RVs in McCormick Place. McCormick Place is a convention center just off the interstate in downtown. They have a 24 hour manned parking lot for trucks, buses, and RVs....and only $30/night. And, it is only 3 miles from Jeff and Malia's apartment.Jeff picked us up, took us on a drive around the city, and then we went back to their apartment. They live in a beautiful high rise building that borders the Chicago River canal and Lake Michigan. Started out by trying to find my cat for a half hour so I could get him situated before I left. Ran a couple errands, picked up Katie, quick stop to see Grandpa and we were on our way! Chicago's flights were grounded due to weather & ended up getting delayed. Finally got out to O'Hare. Then we had to wait for a gate to open & by the time we got to our next gate, we were boarding! Much nicer sitting in a large plane. We arrive in London early tomorrow & have a handful of hours to switch airports, then onto Madrid!
