Geo: 33.7481, -84.3909Today was another travel day. We left Paducah at 8:10 and 72 degrees and headed south. We planned a slightly shorter day today because we were moving back into the eastern time zone and losing an hour. (We had to get to The Drury Hotel in time for "Kick-back"…free drinks and appetizers. Smile) And, despite the fact that we got hung up in traffic going through Atlanta, we made it with time to spare. We drove through Kentucky for a while this morning and, in addition to some farm land, we also saw horses grazing in green pastures. No surprise, it is Kentucky. We crossed the Tennessee River today, twice. Not sure how that works. We drove through a lot of Tennessee, including Nashville. I got shots of the batman building, otherwise known as ... read more

Thursday, 26th June 2014 Today was a very long day. In fact from just after 0400hrs when our friend Mark picked us up to take us to the airport to the time we reached our hotel in Atlanta, we had been travelling for 27 hours and it was still just after 1900hrs on the same day! The three flights we had were uneventful, Perth – Sydney, Sydney – Dallas, Dallas – Atlanta. We were lucky in that we were given seats with plenty of legroom on the second leg, almost as good as an upgrade. After we checked in at the Hotel Twelve we showered and went downstairs to eat. Although we were both really tired we thought we should have some food in our stomachs before trying to sleep. Judy had a lovely salmon dish ... read more

After being home a few days, I still can't get over how amazing the month in Peru really was, almost perfect. I am finding it difficult to answer inquisitive people w/o going into a long answer. We had the chance to live and learn about a totally different culture and society. We got a different perspective on various historical events. And Phil and I had a chance to get to know each other better. We now have acquaintances from literally all over the globe. A couple of things keep coming to mind... The LAN Airline In-Magazine has a message from their CEO titled "Building Bridges." He was making the point that as social beings we all feel the need to be connected to others. This is demonstrated by the billions of people using Facebook, Twitter, and ... read more

In May I'll be hitting the road with Dallas Ragan to drive The Beast out west and do research for our novel. This blog will be a record of that adventure. And hopefully not ever used as evidence.... read more

Just 10 more days before I go to the Philippines to spend some time with a good friend of mine who has been living there for 6 years now. I know that some people are wondering as to why I would go there right after the recent earthquake, typhoon and other natural disasters but I thought that I would also check up and see if I can do anything to help other friends who live on the coast.... read more

Sunday morning I had an early flight. After breakfast and showers Ken dropped me off at the Asheville airport. It was very foggy and my flight was a few minutes late taking off because our plane, coming from Atlanta was held on the ground in Atlanta until the fog lifted here in Asheville. I got to sit in one of the rocking chairs facing the runway (they are always occupied!) and watch the fog lift; so pretty. An hour later I am on the ground in Atlanta. I get my car and head to the grocery. With this special diet my food is very specific so I have to be prepared. I get to my room and settle in, eat dinner (chicken breast and green beans, apple for dessert :) My work week was fine but ... read more

We woke up to the alarm again. My flight to Atlanta leaves at 10:30 this morning. We had breakfast: toast, bacon and orange juice. Ken has to drive the girls back to Bryson City after they drop me off. We head to the airport, I give hugs and kisses and head inside. I'm not feeling so good. My back is hurting bad and I feel sinus pressure, maybe a cold coming on. I bought some water and took some advil. Fortunately it's only an hour flight and I'm soon in ATL. I get my rental car, go to the grocery and head to my hotel. It's only 1pm so I indulge in a two hour nap! After a little dinner, a little tv and reading I went to bed. Monday-Thursday: worked each day at the clinic ... read more

I've been camping around the eastern US in my 2012 Chalet XL 1937 trailer. I love it. It's beautiful. The classiest trailer I've ever owned. But now that I'm 71, and short, I have trouble putting up the sides. The roof goes up with a button. (I love watching people watch me raise the roof.) But the sides need a stronger push than I can do now. (I could raise them easily last year.) The camper is in Atlanta, GA and I'm asking $15,000. Here are photos of the Chalet.... read more

It's my birthday-but a work day...and I've already celebrated with my family. i am supporting a Go-Live at a clinic this week. I like this part of my job. I like working with the doctors and other clinicians, getting out of the office, off my butt! I like that Ken is here at the hotel with me this week. We will head back to Asheville where the RV is on Thursday after work. We didn't go out for dinner this week. I am trying to eat healthy and after being on my feet all day, I am tired. The clinic I am supporting is a Pediatric clinic. Man oh man, I am reminded how blessed I am. My days are filled with seeing child after child of very sick little ones. There is this whole other ... read more
