We leave on our cruise in 4 days. I look forward to sharing with you along the way! “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain ... read more

Hi everyone! I made it to Atlanta so far, I arrived around 9am and will be sitting here until my flight takes off for Madrid at 7:05pm tonight. It's going to be a long day... There were a lot of tears saying goodbye to my parents this morning, and now I'm trying not to cry alone at the airport, cause then people think I'm weird, and no one else here is crying. Mr. Wilda was awesome when I saw him this morning at the airport, bought me water and made me feel better about leaving my parents at security. At this point, I would say I'm anxious excited. When I talk to all my friends and family I get sad, but when I talk to the people from my program that I'll be meeting in a ... read more

We have dropped one car in Salt Lake City and picked another one in Atlanta, with two short flights via Dallas in the middle. Sorry, no plan to drive the Mid-West this time. First good news, we are done for now with the freezing weather. Atlanta is the headquarter of many huge American corporations...well-known for the Olympics...and CNN, Coca-Cola and the Geaorgia Aquarium! Once safely back on land, we took the local train from the airport to downtown....first look of downtown...well, they have a lot of chain hotels...and not sure they have a lot more to see than this. Our program was simple....get to the CNN tour before the last one of the day, and next morning be at the gate of the Georgia Aquarium at the opening. CNN has a one hour tour, and a ... read more

Sorry mom, we tried. Turns out there *nothing* to do in the Atlanta International terminal except to drink. We managed to distract ourselves for a few hours thanks to Klicos' new hotspot app on the phone. Managed some footballs, checked email, and are now well versed in current events, all of the current events. But with 3 more to go we've given up and headed to the wine bar. We are considering this conditioning for the rest of the trip. Cheers.... read more

We have been here for 2 months now. We are settled in our apartment and it feels like home. We already have had visitors: Jason, Josh and of course the granddaughters Lola and Bella. We really like it here...not to live forever but for a one year contract it is nice. We live in Midtown which is definitely city life. We walk to restaurants, parks, coffee shops. We sit out on our balcony and listen to the city sounds. Fortunately our balcony backs up to some huge beautiful pine trees. People in Atlanta are really friendly and nice. It's definitely kinder in the south. My job is great. Everyone is really nice and I like what I am doing. Ken is busy being my PA (Personal Assistant) which is really, really nice. I know why people ... read more

We awoke early in Exuma, so I could plan the rest of our trip and so we could pack. I ended up listing us for an Atlanta to Dublin flight, but I was pretty sure we would not go there. I also got online to tell the TB that we would meet in Vienna, that we would no longer be going there. At about 11:30am, we took a taxi to Exuma airport for our 1:15pm flight to Atlanta. We cleared for business class and I was in seat 2A on the CRJ-700 aircraft. It was Delta flight 5606. The flight was smooth and routine and I had my usual gin and tonics while enroute. We landed in Atlanta on time and cleared customs and immigration pretty quickly. We then went to the Delta Sky Club to ... read more

We awoke at 6am and went down to the lobby for the breakfast buffet. It was pretty good. At about 7am, we got the shuttle to the airport. The security line was not too bad, and we were through in about 20 minutes. We headed down to gate E29 where our flight was departing from. The flight was not leaving until 10:15am, so we went into the Delta Sky Club for a couple of hours. We just relaxed and had some snacks, before heading back to the gate at about 9:30am. Soon we were on board Delta 5607, a CRJ-700 aircraft to Georgetown, Bahamas. We were seated in business class and I was in seat 2C. The man next to me was really cool to talk to and it made the flight go quickly. I had ... read more

I'm Everest bound! After a going away gathering at the house (organized by my sweet husband Gary) and a sleepless night I was ready to get going this morning. The boys were sad, but no tears for now. Of course I have already talked to all of them. My flight to Atlanta was only about half full and on time. Miracles never cease! Getting to fancy smancy International terminal took a little trek with my monster bag, but everyone was very helpful. The check-in process took maybe 30 sec. Very impressive! I have several hours to go, so I'm sure I'll be making my last calls and eating a good lunch. Then I'll sit more, eat more, hopefully sleep some then repeat the whole process again and again one my 14hr flight. Thanks to all who ... read more
