One anniversary I took my wife to a vacation rental spot in Key West called Keys Luxury Resort. They have two properties that you can select from depending on what your taste is. We chose the Coral Hammock Vacation Homes since we weren’t much of boaters and wouldn’t get much use out of the docks at Oceanside Condos and Marina. The Coral is set up like a little community with condo rentals located throughout. We had a great time on our Key West, Florida vacation as there are many things to do in Key West Florida. We went snorkeling, diving, ate at some decent url=http://www.happycow.net/north_america/usa/florida/key_... read more

Trump Resort Miami A friend of ours in Miami recently purchased a new condo in Miami after making a killing on some stock market trades. He invited us down to Miami for the house warming party and I was highly impressed. The resort has Trumps name attached to it, so you think world class amenities and feature, but it’s beyond what I thought would be. This Miami condo was loaded with appliances and features that some of my well to do friends don’t have in their homes. The house warming went great with lots of old friends showing up to celebrate Tony’s new place. Afterwards we headed down to the beach, which is steps away from the condominium. We spent the evening chatting and rem... read more

I like Disney World. It has got to be one of the most fun and exciting places I've been to. My uncle says that everyone gets to be a kid at Disney, and that's why they have to keep it so fun to visit. Anyway we got to go to olando this month and let me tell you I could sleep forever after this trip. We got to stay at a really nice hotel called the Quality Suites Maingate which is in Kissimee (which sounds like what my Mom would say when she tucked me in when I was a kid). Their rooms were huge, about as big as uncle Joshs' apartment back home, and it was right near all the parks we were going to visit so it was really easy to ju... read more

Marathon, Florida Hotel I recall a vacation once where we stayed in the Keys. We stayed in Marathon, which is on the way to Key West. We stayed at a Marathon hotel called Key Colony Bay Hotel. It was a nice little accommodation in Key Colony right by the water. If you get a chance you should stay there.... read more

Key West Bed and Breakfast The Heron House is a Key West bed & breakfast we stayed at 2 years ago when we went to the Keys for a friends wedding. It was really nice with beautiful gardens that occupied every corner of the property. This was a luxury bed & breakfast if I ever saw one. With only 23 rooms you get a real sense of seclusion and privacy. As for eating, you would think a city like Key West would have a lot of health food options. They had a couple that I clustered when surfing the net. The Café was really good. Not completely vegetarian, but the vegan menu was large and scrumptious. ... read more

St Augustine Resort & Vegan Cafe St Augustine is the oldest city in America (if you’re not Native American). It’s a quiet little beach town with an historic fort and nice boutique shops to find cool gifts and even cooler people. For an anniversary my lovely wife and I headed down to St Aug (as the locals call it) to stay at a St Augustine beach resort, the Saint Augustine Beachfront Resort. The resort was really nice with luxury accommodations and a nice pool. The beach was just steps from the hotel and restaurants all up and down the street. Unfortunately there was no vegan St Augustine restaurants on the strip near the hotel. So I Clustered it and found one v... read more

St Petersburg Resort The wife and I checked into this great resort back in May of 2004 as a birthday trip for myself. We wanted to check out St Petes Beach, which I've never been to, and also to maybe hit Busch Gardens when we got bored. The Dolphin Beach Resort was really nice and the service was great. The employees seemed genuinely courteous and friendly and were well informed about the local area. One of the guys actually knew of some great vegan restaurants that we ate at. We ate at the Rollin’ Oats Market and café, which wasn’t 100% vegan, but they had some options for us. Plus we were able to pick up stuff to take back to the resort and eat later. We also tried out Evo’s which is a fast food ... read more

South Beach Florida Hotel South Florida Miami is definitely not a place to go if you don’t like to party. This place is so full of energy it wears you out quickly if you can’t keep up. We stayed at a little Miami hotel called The Clay Hotel. I chose it because there was a strong Hollywood history to the hotel. Lots of famous people not only stayed at this pink painted hotel, but they also shot movies here. Plus it was so unique we figured we’d give it a shot. We were quit pleased to see that it was a really nice hotel compared to the website. For vegan restaurants in Miami we went to several Miami restaurants during our stay. The Beehive was actually really good with lots of great vegan cuisines to choose ... read more

Hey everyone. It has been another eventful couple of weeks. It has really flown by. Thanks to everyone who has emailed us. We really appreciate it and apologize that we don't always get the time to reply to you all individually. We spent another couple of days around Williamsburg and Jamestown, Virginia and cycled to the site of the first (successful) British colony in the US. There is a great visitors centre with replicas of the original ships the settlers travelled over on. From there we travelled on to Savannah, Georgia. It was set up as a town, paid for by the British Government, for those who wanted to escape poverty, injustice, class divides etc. The whole idea didn't really last very long, but the thought was there. It is a totally planned town. If you ... read more

With the arrival of the Chinese Lunar New Year this Sunday, the Fall College Semester comes to an end. Emails from my friends in China tell me about the travel plans among the Chinese population, a time of very crowded travel. It is an important time for family gatherings, concluding unfinished business, and paying off debts. All of this reminds me that time is simply passing very quickly, and by this time next year I will be able to share my experiences of the Chinese Lunar New Year with you, for I have already received a number of invitations to share this holiday with Mr. Lee's family. The process of packing and sending items in advance of my arrival in China has already begun. Personal toiletries, my menthol Ciggarettes, coffee, are just some of the ... read more
