A big fan of Lenscrafters now. Lost first pair of reading glasses when headed out to India. They are somewhere in LA. Thankfully, took the wrong seat on the Cathay Pacific 747 and just above the seat where was sitting was... a pair of glasses. The flight attendant picked them off the back of the seat, "Are these your glasses?" Before I could say "Yes" they were in my hands. From there could read menus, maps, with this new pair of glasses perfectly throughout trip in India. Then when departed India (morning of the New Delhi bombings, below) the eyeglasses departed me. Couldn't find them anywhere for the flight back. Back in the Palm Beaches, bought a new pair for $200 bucks. Then when went off to Guatemala to do craniosacral therapy and craniocean work, on ... read more

Days 44 & 45 Another horrid early morning (but we were happy to get up and get out of the pit they call Lima) we headed to the airport to catch our flight. We tried to be proper travellers and use the buses but got half way and were lost so we shared a taxi with some strange old woman (which turned out good for us as she paid for most of it!!). We got to the hostel mid-afternoon and went for a wander. We really liked it there, Ocean Drive was really cool with loads of restaurants and bars lining the road. The only bad thing was it was full of Americans!! Had a lovely dinner on Ocean Drive then went shopping. Had a pretty early night or at least tried to as the other ... read more

Christmas Day for 2005 was a bit more exciting this year and far more comfortable than 2004. Our body clocks were suitably adjusted this time, we were far more aware of what part of the globe we were in and therefore slightly more in the "holiday mood". Amazingly enough this year was much warmer than last. We were able to dress for Christmas dinner without jackets- unlike last year when we would get "misty breath" when we went outside. We hosted 19 other adults, 4 teenagers and 8 little tackers for dinner. Derrick, our friend from Canada came around early to cook our turkey for us, while we made preparations for the veggies. He worked in a kitchen in his life before the Air Force and so with both of us being inexperienced in the cooking-of-oversized-chickens-department, ... read more

Before we left India, Carolyn Myss said that our spirits would remain there for awhile before returning to us. I found this to be be true with Guatemala also. Diego and I last visited the ocean. I worked with Diego and the high waves. Shortly into our session, the waves calmed. We realized this calm was part of our session. I continued to hold him with both hands, working with the currents and the waves, letting the ocean perform the moves. The next morning, it was flat as glass. We worked again, and this time Diego was able to relax his neck even more and be held by the water. Before, with the high waves, he had kept his neck out of the water, ramrod straight, as best he could. He did not want to get ... read more

Hello to all and Merry Christmas! It's been a long time since our last newsletter, partly because we have been so busy and partly because I have been trying to find one good website program to post my entries on. The aim is to find one central website that shows updated news, photos etc. We decided to host Christmas dinner at our house this year and sent out the message "the more the merrier". It didn't take long for us to realise that maybe we'd bitten off more than we could chew... we now have 21 adults, 4 adolescents and 10 "little tackers". The families coming represent The UK, Germany, The Netherlands, Chile, Canada and of course Australia. We've borrowed 4 enormous trestle tables from the Navy base, which we've made into one long table and ... read more

Marce's mom, Mashenka, drove us down to Orlando last night to the sounds of Coldplay, Maria Carter, and Steph Taylor. We would have been listening through our old speakers, but Marce's brother, A. J., helped Allen install new speakers in Sirius (our car) on Monday night. Without them, we'd still be in Gainesville packing - thank you two so much! We quietly crept out of our hotel room at La Quinta to let them keep sleeping, and we arrived at Orlando International bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. Well, maybe not bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, but at least we're awake! Interestingly, we've already seen some of the "usual" holiday characters. Our shuttle driver, Carl, was like a breath of Christmas cheer. We're hoping it wasn't eggnog, but his warm wishes and anecdotes were an unexpected break from the usual ... read more

It's finally here! Allen & Marce's West Coast Adventure 2005-2006 begins tomorrow! We are putting the finishing touches on packing and prepping for the trip and we are really excited! Mashenka and A.J. have been helping us iron out the details of the trip and will be driving down to Orlando with us tonight. Our flight leaves tomorrow at 7am and it's not a minute too soon. We'll be arriving in San Francisco to what looks to be really great weather. We will post pictures as soon as we get them, so check back often! For now, check out www.theboyandthegirl.com.... read more

Sadly we didn't have very long to spend in Miami which is a shame because it is a cool place. We stayed in a hotel right by the beach which was lovely but unfortunately, being their winter time, it wasn't hot enough to sunbathe. We took advantage of the great shops and nice restaurants. It was good to be able to fully understand the menus and to have 'normal' food again. We had forgotten that salad and veggies existed. The only downside was the price, much more expensive than Latin America. As the Americans aren't into football (or should I say 'soccer'?) we decided to catch a basketball game instead. We went to see Miami Heat beat Atlanta with Shaquille O'Neal easing them to victory. It was a great experience as the Americans are very over ... read more
