We have made our flight in the morning and arrived at our motel where we will be catching up with our tour. We will miss the drive over of the Golden Gate Bridge but luckily we are back here later to have a look at it. We now have a 2 hour wait which is nice for a change. Will upload some iPhone photos. ... read more

Our last full day in San Francisco and with the wet weather (continuing) and traffic, we decided to relocate tonight to make it easy to get to the train station on time... So we booked into the Inn @ Jack London Square. Let me tell you, it's a lovely location. Nice room, well appointed and comfortable. But let me begin the day again. So with all the best of intentions, we woke at 6am, then rolled back over and snoozed, before we finally got up and about at 9am... Of course with teenaged daughters it took a while, but we got to breakfast before it was done :) Then we headed back into San Francisco's city centre. Of course it's stills raining (I think that's just our luck in SF!) So we hurried around and found ... read more

W podróż z Los Angeles do San Francisco udaliśmy się słynną Pacific Coast Highway biegnącą w większości nad samym brzegiem oceanu. Jazda i parkowanie były kolejnym wyzwaniem… Nieodłącznym elementem krajobrazu jest też słynny zabytkowy tramwaj (cable car) oraz na nabrzeżu budki i restauracje serwujące kraby i inne owoce morza. Ciekawostką na stary... read more

Geo: 37.805, -122.273After our bicycle ride across the Golden Gate Bridge, today was going to be a much less active day. We began the day by meeting Joel, whom we had met in Costa Rica this year for breakfast in Oakland at the Buttercup Restaurant, near Jack London Square. Joel lives in Oakland and recommended we meet here. The #72 bus dropped us about a block from our destination. One of the things we noticed as we rode along were the very interesting buildings that still exist in Oakland. There are many buildings from the 20's and 30's still standing and in many instances are either being restored and have been restored to their former glory. There are a couple of 20's era movie "palaces" along San Pablo and Broadway, the two streets we traveled along. Joel ... read more

Dusting off the Travelblog spiderwebs, with no reverence for Halloween. Incidentally, a very large spider moved in right outside the big window to remind me of the season, and I even got to see him drink lunch yesterday. I am writing again after years of forgetting about this blog, the one I started during my stay in Austria. For a while I wasn't traveling at all, and then I started doing some local daytrips and some overnighters here and there within the state of California. This November 2012 I will be undergoing an 8-day road tour from Northern California to Oklahoma City with only one other person - none other than my mom. I am looking forward to seeing landscapes I've only seen pictures of, and piecing together more parts of the American puzzle. I hope ... read more

He recommended I dip into this drawing, in case life has a particularly exciting travel twist for me in the future! I believe I am the candidate for a 12 day trip to Europe. I am a traveler and wannabe global socialite, in the most humble of ways. I recently graduated from college, broke up with my boyfriend of more than two years, and am temporarily living in the bay area, pondering my next step, which may be going nomadic for a while. I am... read more

The plan was, if I woke up early, I would head to Marin, to Muir Woods. If not, then the Oakland Hills. After 3 nocturnal cat emergencies (I need you to walk me downstairs again, and remind me where my food is again, even though we’ve lived here six years) I did not wake up early. So Oakland it would be. I thought about what, exactly, I wanted for breakfast, since on vacation, you can have whatever you want. I made pancakes and bacon. I have to say, the pancakes came out perfectly, which is unusual for me. This might be a good omen. By noon-thirty, I was out of the house and driving to the Oakland Hills. Though I missed the window where traffic is light, and both tunnels heading west are open, I still ... read more
