Well thats that.... My courses are over now (A's all around). We had the a final end of summer BBQ last night out front of the Lucas building. It's been a wild ride but now its time to hit the streets of the real world and try to make an honest living, and if that doesn't work well...there's always the circus. Thanks for reading, stay tuned for the next blog, where will Evan end up next? will it be Cairo? Sydney? Yokohama? Moscow?...Toronto? Only time (and big wads of cash) will tell. One thing is for sure, L.A. has been conquered. World bring on your worst (as long as there are no spiders). And now what you've all been waiting for...shameless, self-promoting pictures. good tidings to all, - Evan B. Aagaard signing off ... read more

Bloggers! Sounds like a British exclamation! Well, we're going to give this blogging thing a try! We hope it's interesting! :) Thanks for taking time to read it! Today was our America World Adoption Association travel meeting conference call...2 hours of good stuff to know about traveling to China. Many questions answered, and some we never even thought to ask (e.g. stuff about single- and double-entry visas for travel into Hong Kong). Needless to say, the meeting was very informative and we're pretty excited to get going on this trip! We can hardly wait!!! We're going to be staying in some niiiiiice 4- and 5-star hotels...much nicer than if we were doing our normal "budget-conscious" vacations (hello, Days Inn?!). But hey, no expense is spared for baby Sarah! This trip is all about her, and we ... read more

Hurray the bar is done! In a few more days and I'm off to Europe for a few fun-filled weeks. Since it is virtually impossible that I'll be able to be in contact with everyone while I'm gone (though I'd love to if I could), I decided to set up this website so you all can see and hear about my adventures and to otherwise make sure I'm still doing okay. You can post messages back to me on this website, look at pics, read my journal entries and you'll be able to see what cities I'm in or just left. I there's anything you want form any of the cities listed below, please speak up...though warning if it doesn't fit in my backpack, it won't be coming back with me so choose wisely or we'll ... read more

Ahoy-hoy, Just wanted to toss up a quick post on my 35mm shoot. It was 6 different kinds of awesome as you can see by the ridiculous grin on my face. That was one bad mother of a camera. Hell of a thing to set up though, we each got a role of about 220ft which equals somewhere around 2 minutes each and we had 12 hours to do 4 rolls. It took us 13 hrs and we just barely wrapped when they finally kicked us off the sound stage. I was also helping out on a HD short film on Saturday. The director was a bit of a doofus but the DP was one of my instructors so he let me assist on camera. They shot on the sony F900, the same camera Lucas used ... read more

UPDATED WITH PHOTOS! Finally! THE LONG OVERDUE FINAL ENTRY OF OUR "SUMMER WORK ROAD TRIP" BLOG....PICTURES WILL FOLLOW AT SOME POINT....LOL......ENJOY!!! As the song goes, "We Love L.A."! LOL! We really do! With that said, April and I didn't have much time to enjoy it. Allow me to explain....On June 30th we had come to the conclusion to LEAVE scorching, scalding, sizzling hot Las Vegas and head HOME for the 4th Of July. We missed our family and pets and were experiencing heat stroke (I am sure of it)! For a brief moment we were going to drive home through Canada and bypass all the HEAT. After much talk we decided to head to the extremely cool (both figuratively and literally), Los Angeles. We were only 4 hours away and have always wanted to visit. The ... read more

You know I'm not one to toot my own horn but if you happened to be watching The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last Friday there's a good chance you may have seen my hat. Yes thats right! I was there in the audience, front row center, I even got to shake his hand...actually it was more of a hand pat but I'm sure if he had more time it would have been a full doublehanded shake. Actually I'm not a huge Leno fan, I'd rather take a nose-bleed seat at a Conan O'brian taping or better yet John Stewart but the tickets were free and it was a new experience. The guests that afternoon- er, "night" were William H. Macy (Fargo, Pleasentville, Magnolia) and some dude from that new documentary Murderball, there was also an ... read more

I am leaving LA today and while I didn’t get to see any of Hollywood or Beverly Hills, I figure that these places are just glitzy shopping malls for people with more money and time than me. The tourist stretches of the movie industry are a big attraction for some, but I will have to come back another time to find out why. Perhaps if I saw Yodo walking along the road, I too would want jump and scream. Anyway, wherever I went saw small groups of tourists flocking to watch some b grade camera crew just for a glimpse of someone they might think is famous. My only real contact with this world was a momentary glimpse of the Hollywood sign. I saw it down a little way from city hall. For anyone who has ... read more

This was the place I originally was planning to spend most of my time in LA. According to all the travel guides, it’s a must see destination and it is very impressive. The most unique part of the area for me was the stretch of walk way around Venice Beach. Its diverse mix of music, craft and atmosphere is a big attraction for many alternative thinking people. As a result some in the area claim it to the world’s largest demonstration of free speech. Musicians and other artisans are competing for attention and promoting their wares and trying to earn a dollar based on their talent. Occassionaly the market’s atmosphere is momentarily thwarted by the presence of a stand or two for some multi-national company. They are manned by young business looking like people. Against the ... read more

With the logic of international timelines I landed two hours before I left. I must say the benefit of gaining a day did not compensate enough for the fact that the flight was very very long. I spent most of the bonus day just recovering. When I arrived at LAX, I thought I would have time to adjust to being in the USA, by staying at the airport club to freshen up, but to my surprise I was out of the airport before I knew it. The way we were directed meant that it was only about 200 meters from the plane gate through customs and baggage to find myself in the airport exit foyer. At this point I had no US money and was still half a sleep. Fortunately I found my way through and ... read more

I left my house 12 hours ago and I have only made it as far as LAX! My flight out of SFO was delayed, and I missed my connection to Costa Rica. So in other words, I am screwed. I tried to sleep on the floor at LAX last night, but it didn't quite work out. I would've gotten a hotel, but by the time I realized I was screwed in was 2:00am and the ticket counters opened at 5:00am this morning, so I decided to stay. United now has me on a flight to JFK at 1:00 this afternoon, connecting with a LAN Chile flight to Lima. I only have a 2 hr. layover in JFK, so if we're delayed, I might be sleeping in JFK tonight! Oh yea, TACA airlines has my luggage and ... read more
