On our way to the island of Oahu! We were picked up early in the morning by our friend David in his Escalade with just enough room for Vivian to share a seat with whoever would take her (Nathan, Steve, Tory all took turns.) At the airport, LAX, we had a funny moment where Vivian was asked which way she wanted to get up to the next level by pointing at 2 options, the escalator or the elevator. She didn't know the name of the escalator, so she made up the name step-a-vator! The flight went pretty well, Vivian had a good nap and the 6 hours to Hawaii is not bad when you are anticipating what is there. Plus, Tory brought some great toys and books to entertain the kids. Once landing in Honolulu, Steve ... read more

The trip was planned last October with the idea of getting away for Steve and Tory's 10-year anniversary with no kids. We wanted to go somewhere similar to our Honeymoon in Costa Rica, which was 10 amazing days spent between Tamarindo Beach and Nayara at the Arenal Volcano. Panama was an option but Cancun was recommended by our travel agent Debbie and the Haven Riviera all-inclusive resort was the place. We started the night before by dropping off Nathan and Rosie to sleep the night before we left at a friends house, Dean and Michelle Lee, because we were leaving for the airport early the next morning. Vivian stayed with us on the last night because the previous day was very rough for her. She had to have her front tooth extracted and was in pain ... read more

On our way to the island of Maui! In order to travel to Hawaii we all had to get COVID tests 72 hours before leaving and register our results on a travel Hawaii website. We were picked up first at 5:30am by David's driver Neftali in his Suburban, which was just big enough to fit the 7 of us (Our family and Jerry and Nancy) and our 3 suitcases, 5 backpacks, carry-on beach bag, stroller, and a carseat. A quick stop at McDonald's for breakfast before stopping by Jerry's house and we were off to the airport! Checkin went fine but we struggled to get special wristbands for when we landed in Hawaii, but that ended up being quick so it was not a big deal. The flight was great as Nathan and Rosie watched movies ... read more

It was a better night's sleep and everyone woke up happy so Steve put Vivian up in bed with Rosie. They figured out how to open to full window and screen to see and hear the ocean, then Vivian had a very fun time sticking her head out the window and giggling. We did another easier breakfast of cereal and microwaved egg bites as the kids were able to watch some Strawberry Shortcake DVDs so it kind of felt like home in the RV. Most of the things were put away but the remaining items got packed up and we took a family picture in front of the RV before driving off. There were no dumps at the RV Campground but we could use them at Sycamore Canyon Campground so drove a few minutes south to ... read more

The past 8 months have been very different in this country as the COVID pandemic has made everyone wear masks and change work and school arrangements. We've made the most of this time while Steve has been able to work remotely allowing us to go 5 different times and spending 6 weeks up at Susie and George's lake house from May to September and having a very special time for the kids to play at the lake and be with Nana and Grandpa. While we also just got back 1 month ago from visiting Mike, Jenn, Ellie, and Grayson in Tennessee, this was going to be a vacation just for us and the kids. We already celebrated a Thanksgiving Day meal the Sunday before with Tory's Mom and Dad at our house so that we could ... read more

Off to Tennessee, the land of Country music and fried chicken. Nathan is now 6 1/2, Rosie is 3 and turns 4 in 3 weeks, and Vivian is 21 months old. They were very excited to see their similar aged cousins Ellie (6 1/2) and Grayson (4). With the COVID pandemic happening over the last 7 months, the airports have been much less crowded than usual and the check in and security went very smooth and easy. The kids flew to Sacramento in August to see Steve's parents but the 4-hour flight seemed a little more daunting of a job especially with the face mask requirements. The kids kept busy with toys, plenty of snacks, and movies on the iPad, while the amazing, happy baby Vivian had a nice 1 hour nap sleeping on Steve. Mike ... read more

We left the next morning for the Spokane airport and said our goodbyes as everyone was awake. Getting to the airport and returning the car all went easy and the kids were very well behaved. Our flight stopped in Sacramento but there was no plane change, which helped it go by quickly as we were able to spread out in full rows all the way to Burbank. Tory brought them new trucks that come in boxes or garages that helped keep the kids busy as well, and we found out keeping them sitting next to each other keeps them entertained. Tory's mom Sue drove the Van to pick us up and we took her to her house in Calabasas. The only downside was there was a plane crash on the 101 freeway that delayed out drive ... read more

Off to Idaho! The land of the potatoes and miles and miles of wheat fields. We had Grammy Sue take us to the airport, which was a big help with getting dropped right off at the airport terminal. She provided breakfast and we had plenty of activities for the flights. A short flight to Oakland and then a plane change was fine for the kids to explore the airport and get a little energy out. Naturally, Rosie enjoyed picking a wrestling match with her big brother Nathan, and they both enjoyed watching some planes from the windows. The 2-hour flight to Spokane was a relief as Rosie wanted to nap and slept on/with Steve for most of the flight. We got to our rental car, loaded our car seats, stopped for a McDonald's lunch in Spokane ... read more

On our way to the island of Maui! We were picked up by our friend David. Nathan liked his limousine and he would like to ride in one all the time. We picked up Sue in Calabasas and then we’re off to LAX. One we were checked in we made a quick stop at the lounge club to grab a quick breakfast. Who knew there are huge underground hallways that connect the airport terminals? We were quite a sight running at full speed (Nathan in his jammies) to get the kids energy out. The flight went pretty well, Rosie had a short nap but the 6 hours to Hawaii isn’t bad when you are anticipating what is there. The only bad part was landing and waiting an hour on the tarmack for a gate, but our ... read more
