Upon this maiden voyage of the "Sistership", we four have journeyed through the skies, over the seas, and upon the hallowed lands----together. I am traversing the realms as by an appointed matrix; subtle in form and yet discernable. Sometimes, a twinkle of light illuminates my footpath by encounters divine. Wee gifts are revealed in each moment that I am able to remain open and aware of the true bounty of Spirit. They are found in a song, a tear of gratitude, a whisper on the wind... ... read more

I've come to serve life and so I shall continue. This new journey has begun, to find my place in the world. Years of study have brought me to this moment of divine connection with our vision and the forces of spirit that serve us. My only deisre is to serve willingly with a loving heart & joyous spirit. I wish to do this well and so I shall. ... read more

Driving to Phoenix Today is my birthday, and I have driven from San Diego to Phoenix. Big drive, hot day and we are staying in a rather spartan van park on the north side of the city. We stopped for lunch at El Centro, in southern California just north of the I8. Dusty and hot, but it was nice to get off the road. Elaine tried driving today, but it was a bit of a disaster and neither of us were very comfortable. Getting to the van park was a marathon. We got onto the I17 about 5.00 pm, still peak hour. But it looked like a short run up that and then the park was less than a kilometre from one of the exits. Which would have been okay except that just a bit north ... read more

Program & Employer: As some of you may know, this coming Thursday I will be heading to Amman, Jordan for apx. 10 months to take part in the Emerging Markets Development Advisors Program (www.emdap.org). It is a program funded by USAID to support business development and competitiveness in emerging markets. In my case, this will mean working at the Business Development Center (http://www.jusbp.org/about_us.shtm) consulting Jordanian companies on increasing their competitiveness with the objective of exporting to the U.S. and Europe. I am not a government employee nor do I have any responsibility to represent the US government or its interests. I am the recipient of a grant from the US government. Aside from the obvious benefits of living and working in the Middle East, I hope to take advantage of the opportunity to pursue: experience doing ... read more

Hello everybody! I'm going to try and keep this updated as often as possible so all of you can track my progress as I explore Würzburg, Germany, Europe, and the World. I leave tonight from Sky Harbor airport and will arrive in Philadelphia tomorrow morning. One particularly relevant detail is that I got a new camera, which will be useful for recording my journey. For those of you who don't know, I have pretty crummy luck when it comes to cameras and international travel. In Hungary two summers ago, I lost my camera while visiting in a tiny church village (or maybe when I tumbled out of the back of a horse-drawn cart as we left the village). The replacement for that camera was sadly squashed as a wall-mounted speaker came crashing down on it. The ... read more

It has been a very hectic three days. Sunday was changeover day and we were off to L.A. Plane was grounded for an hour before we took off but eventually we were on our way. Arrived in LA at 6pm. Hotel was okay with an olympic sized swimming pool. Monday we were up early fro a tour of Bevilly Hills, a walk around Sony studios (used to belong to MGM in its hayday) a look at the hand prints at the chinese theartre then back to the hotel to pack for the journey to Phoenix. Once out of Hollywood it was a long drive across the desert. We stopped at Palm springs for lunch. Had a great meal there in a diner. Temperature by then was 112 The inside windows of the coach were too hot ... read more

The drive from NM to AZ was long and hot...the Top Down Tour became the Top Up Tour again..... Hanging out with Jenn, Matt, Marley and Luc. Having a great couple days visiting. Temperatures in the 110’s. They say it’s a dry heat, but let me say it is still uncomfortable. We had the pleasure of taking Marley to school. She liked school before we arrived, but now that we are here she is having a fit about going, go figure. Luc is as cute as they come, but equally as rotten. We left Arizona Tuesday afternoon, with some new passengers, Jenn, Marley and Luc. Matt stayed behind for work. We headed for San Dimas Ca. This is where Susie’s brothers wedding will be. We will be staying with Susie’s sister Debbie and her family. The ... read more

Ok, so it's been quite some time since my last post. I apologize for my negligence, but I'm sure none of you minded. I'm back, which is to say I'm now in the U.S. I have been awake for the last like 30 hours flying with Yvonne from Manila to Phoenix (so if this post sucks, layoff jerks--I'm tired) where we will have debriefing over the next couple of days. I am now in a hotel (I decided to blow some money on a hotel room for my time in Phoenix) and awaiting the next few days of chilling in the office. But more important than debriefing (no offense FHUS staff) were my last two weeks in the Philippines. In those last two weeks I did a lot, mostly trying to finish up the work I ... read more

For that last Silk Road entry, I'd been writing those thoughts and experiences down on buses, hotel desks, night train windowsills, in a notebook as they happened to me, as they were fresh in my mind. As for the last few days of the trip, I knew they would be too busy for that, so I decided to go out and experience the pair of Chinese metropolis cities, Shanghai & Hong Kong, for what they were and worry about putting it into words later. Well, coming back home is making me face a lot of those "worry about it until later" sort of things--I'll be spending all day today looking for apartments, I still need to find transportation, a job and/or internship, get my textbooks, write a CHI294 essay... So I'll do the best I can ... read more

Today Cat had to get me up. The whole day was hell and was spend spewing. In 45 + degree heat I spent about 4 hours of the bus ride hanging out in the toilet with a garbage bag constantly filling with puke. Worst hangover ever. At out shopping center stopover I even had to spew in a bin in the shopping center. A very classy girl. Clearly. It was so hot. That night we went into town for a walkabout dinner. Majority of us went to a Greek restaurant called My Big Fat Greek Restaurant. I would highly recommend it. The food was amazing. We went out for a few drinks but I was majorly struggling, still completing bla from the night before and swearing off alcohol forever. I had one cocktail and then I ... read more
