Hello world, what is up_ um the characters are being funny. So, we made it down to Guaymas. The internet cafe stereo is blasting hotel california, first in spanish, now in english. First, we were going to go down the baja, but the travel was looking difficult so we went to the mainland. We spent a night in Tecate, that was pretty cool. There were all these people in the park on sunday, just hanging out. Then we thought we would go to Mexicali. We went there, but it was just another border town. We looked at the map of Mexico and despaired, we had only done a tiny loop. Anyway, we weren{t felling mexicali, so we watched the sunset over california, as we looked at all the cars trying to get back into america. That ... read more

buenos dias Well its wednesday and i have one class today and then tomorrow morning a whole bunch of us exhcange students are heading to guadalajara and guanajuato for a week. its gonna be awesome. we are leaving at 4am so it will be a long bus ride but our first stop is a tour of a tequila factory so i'm sure that will wake us all up... not much is new these past few days. saturday night we ended up going to a house warming party of two of the Finnish girls. they found a new place to rent and its up on one of the hills. so nice with an awesome view but the A/C wasn't working so we didn't stay too long. then we ended up at Sr. Frog's. apparently the canadians and ... read more

well this past week has been pretty laid back because it was the first set of exams at school. i had one in every class. the good news is, they were ridiculously easy....besides spanish. acutlaly my one class didn{t even have an exam, it was a presentation. My spanish test was hard but i studied my ass off for it so i think i did good enough. i am trying to remember what i did all week and here it goes...tuesday was the whole bring in food from your country day for my tourism class which was relaly random. me and ilona and jason definately made poutine except we had to make fries the night before so they tasted like cardboard. fortunately we bought way to much cheese so we were able to mask that. we ... read more

well the weekend was basically a large waste of time. friday i studied for quite a while because i figured that since school was cancelled i should study for the hours i wa smissing......i think that makes sense. anyways, so me and heather and ilona drank way too many frappacinos and did homework. friday night there was a fiesta at monroe and uhau's apartment who are two exchange students. they had a party for a whole bunch of birthdays that were this weekend. it was great and they even bought a pinata and filled it with mexican candy and mini liquor bottles. afterwards me carlos jason and ilona went to joe's oyster bar and danced like mofos. then ilona dissappeared for about a half hour and we were all freaking out trying to find her and ... read more

well i am supposed to be struggling through 4 hours of spanish right now but fortunately hurricane john has been good to mazatlan and made it rain just enough to cancel school. i am pretty pumped about that. it rained so much last night it is insane and the water was so high some friends tried to order pizza but they couldn't get to their house to deliver. there was probably about a metre of water in some streets where the sidewalks are high enough. it was really windy for a while too last night and all the fishermen had their boats pulled up onto the malecon just in case the hurricane hit here. i guess a hurricane hasn't hit here in about 30 years (says my professor who really isn't the smartest and i'm pretty ... read more

so this morning i was riding the university bus to school which i paid about 200 dollars to take me to school and home everyday because my house is so far from the busstop, and it was weird. i guess i had one of those epiphanies from the movies. i am totally like one of the rich mexicans here who can not only afford to go to the university but also afford to pay for the school bus and not have to walk an hour and then ride the city bus for an hour. i basically felt like a spoiled brat. i guess i´m starting to realize how lucky i really am and i know it sounds corny and lame but really you can´t judge until you come here and see what i mean because i ... read more

hey team. well saturday we (me, heather, and temo who was one girls' friend who was visiting for a week) went down to the golden zone and hit the beach. we found a catamaran ride in literally about 30 seconds it was pretty funny. the guy was so funny he offered to go and buy us beer to take on the catamaran and insisted to walk us to the convenience store because he knew the owner and would make sure we got a bag of ice for free. it was amusing. he obviously knows how to work for his tips. anyways, the catamaran ride was only 300 pesos for 3 people, with is about 10 bucks each. basically the best 10 bucks i've ever spent. he took us out to an island about a 20 minute ... read more

hola. i can't remember what my last blog was about o hopefully this isn't repetitive. anyways, thursday night we all went to a pub like place called jungle juice. there was an open bar for the girls from 8-10 which i really didn't believe actually existed, but to my surprise, there wasn't even a catch. there was no cover and the drinks weren't watered down. it was almostto good to be true....bt it was true. so we all definately took advantage of that and then headed over to another place called latitude where you buy one martini for 60 pesos or about 6 bucks and then they just keep refilling your glass. also a super good deal, but only for the girls again. anyways, it was a long night and a very long friday morning when ... read more
