There is only an hour time difference here. 8am here is 9am at home. I woke up at 6am. Not bad. No luggage yet. We were to meet a hostess at 9am to take a tour of the resort and have breakfast. I went to check and see if our things had arrived….nope. I was able to walk around and enjoy the morning quiet of VP. This is a fantastic place. (am went to meet Tonita who introduced us to Keile (Key-Lee) origionally from Canada, Vancouver. Who introduced us to John Cortes. This was not a tour, this was a “please buy into our resort” program, Hey we got several free things out of it, what was supposed to be a 90 minute presentation turned into a 5 hour excursion. Guess what. We bought into it. ... read more

The vacation started off with a big bang! Ok not really. The plane was supposed to depart at 9:00am. Did you notice I said WAS. We loaded up and pulled out onto the runway and went through the de-icing of the wings, the Captain came over the systems and said we would need to return to the port because a generator was not functioning properly, the repair process would only take 20 minutes. An hour later we were off the ground. In addition to leaving late and taking some kind of detour we arrived in Las Vegas at 11:35, our plane to Puerto Vallarta was to depart at 11:37. We were lucky and the plane was running behind. Paul and I made it with a few minutes to spare. Upon arriving at Puerto Vallarta we had ... read more

Last day our beach chairs are being reserved for us but remain empty. Sniff. Hopefully they will go to deserving new owners. The routine... beach, ocean, bar. Repeat. Heading back home, the pilot indicates that the weather in Montreal is... nice. Whatever. It was snowing when we landed. We definately weren't prepared for the cold weather that we encountered. My sarong served as a scarf. And the view from our balcony changed from a banana tree to snowy rooftops. We spent a couple of nights at the Delta and spent a full day shopping on St. Catherine. We were most excited to enjoy a decent cup of coffee in a week (with the exception of course for the flaming coffee). Our meals in Montreal we good, but sadly lacking refried beans. The other rude awakening was ... read more

Hola amigos! We are now in the groove, there is no turning back. Nine hour shifts on the beach and life is good. We have taken several pictures of our favorite beach vendors. Those who haven't been there, there are lots of people selling stuff on the beach (please refer to photos): * Muffin Man ... "banana, pineapple, coconut! How many muffins?" * Iguana Amigo? * Camaron Man * Tour Guide Man ... "joo want to go norkel or pishing?" (translation - would you like to go snokeling or fishing?) * Gary would like to know how much-o for the jet skiing and ... do you have any ducks? We enjoyed a "romantic meal" at La Palapa right on the beach. Here we had the adobo beef and snapper, followed by the infamous flaming coffee. Mmmmmm. ... read more

We have arrived! Early departure from Montreal on a very cramped charter air plane but we arrived no worse for wear. Quick shuttle to the hotel, ordered 2 cervezas and put our pedicured toes in the Pacific. Ahhhhhhh. Our first few days were filled with hot sunny weather during the day, and warm moist evenings. Hair styling has been a challenge. But long beach filled days, margaritas, daquiris, cervezas, mai tais, pina colada's have made us forget about the bad hair days. Meals have lots of mexican food...we've made it a goal to eat refried beans at almost every meal. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Saturday we took a local bus (an adventure in itself) downtown for some shopping at the markets, a bit of sight seeing along the boardwalk and a mexican lunch. We checked out ... read more

In March of 2005 some of my best friends got married after having been together for nearly 8 years. They decided to have the wedding in Puerto Vallarta to make it an event to remember for everyone. Initially they figured the cost and distance would make it difficult for people so they thought that it would be just the closest of family. To their surprise nearly 125 people made the trek for the event. I left Minneapolis with Mike and Haley ( the lucky couple) on March 5th - two days before my birthday. I spent the first 2-3 days in Haleys parents condo in Nuevo Vallarta. After everyone arrived we all moved to a villa in Bucerias (approx 20mi NW of Puerto Vallarta) where the wedding was held on the beach and stayed there for ... read more

We left Puerto Vallarta in a chartered Cessna Caravan to go to Socorro Island, part of the Islas Revillagigedo, about 400 km west of the Mexican coast. Socorro is known as a diving destination, and has an amazing variety of life in the ocean, but the island itself is occupied only by a small Mexican Navy base on the South East corner. High winds, rain, salt water and poor roads make it a tough environment for equipment and people. Sheep have damaged some of the indigenous life, but the island is still home to the Socorro mockingbird; there are so many crabs that in some places you cannot help but step on them. After dark they come out on the roads - arms raised ready to fight the jeep. There is even a nocturnal local bird ... read more
