Hello everyone again. Well I had an interesting journey from Oaxaca to Rio Nexpa in Michuocan. The lucky few will hear the details.... Right now I'm in Barra de Navidad staying at Coco Cabanas which is located right on the beach and is very plush. I met up with Kemi Vernon down in Rio Nexpa where I got to surf yesterday. Woo Hoo. I caught a ride up with her to Barra. We exchanged stories, ate a bag of watermelon and mango from the drive-by fruit stand for a dollar. She told me about life in Mexico and her upcoming plans to travel to Indo next month (solo--yea girl!) The weather is sunny and humid and there are palm trees everywhere. I'll be reconnecting with Kemi up in Punta Mita in a few days to catch ... read more

After our first week at the school we decided to use our (first) long bank-holiday weekend to head to the beach and my first Mexican sea-side experience at the small town, now BIG tourist attraction, Puerto Vallarta. It is the first time I´ve been back to the Pacific since I left it at Tierra del Fuego in January, and it was sort of reassuring that it was still there, just as big as ever. The weather was perfect and Anne and I spent lots of time topping up our tans, swimming in the perfect-temperature water, and fending off the literally hundreds of beach hawkers selling hairbrades, henna tattoos, dresses, shirts, sarongs, necklaces, earings, personalised bracelets, cheap sunglasses, fruit, stolen watches, wooden animals, hammocks, rugs, and my own personal favourite - and the cause of my failure ... read more

I have visited Puerto Vallarta twice in the past ten years....If you just want to relax on the beach or take a tour of the city ..this is a nice place. In town there are several old churches and my last visit was over christmas. The town had put up decorations more lovely than I had seen here in the states. I stayed the first time at Paradise village resort which is actually in Neuvo Vallarta...they have a huge hotel and their own zoo ! I would recommend staying here anytime. They also have three restaurants on the premises if you dont want to venture in to town. ... read more

TIME TO GO HOME! I dreaded this day, we had to check out of the resort at 11am but out plane did not leave till 6:15 pm. We had to hang out with nothing to do, we should had laid on the beach and then just changed clothes in the restroom before we left. We’ll know better next time. Actually once we got to the airport it was not so bad, what was bad was the fact we had to take a red eye from Arizona to Philly, we had to go passed home before we could get home! I did not think I was going to survive. Fortunately I was able to sleep. We finally arrived home at 9:00am on December 10, 2005. So now here it is a day later and I can barely ... read more

Final tour of the vacation and final full day in Puerto Vallarta, I am sad to be going but glad to be going at the same time. I am ready to go home. I miss the Pups. All the dogs here seem so sad. We have seen several pups here and all of them just seem to just sit there and look depressed. I wanted to take each of them home with me. We went on the Shopping tour today. Sorry mom did not find your requested item. All of the items people were selling kind of…well how should I say this?….they sucked. Everything was the same; I am not the type of person who likes to get a shot glass with Puerto Vallarta on it. I have a t-shirt for that. We found some nice ... read more

Went on a great tour today, yet at the same time we felt it was a horrid tour. Allow me to explain. I had stated in another entry that PV relies a lot on tourism. As a part of our tour we went to two small towns that were believed to be founded is 17 A.D. These town were lovely and yet they were very ……how do I say……poor. I was torn to exactly how I felt. One half of me was feeling that this place is simple and beautiful and the other half felt like our tour guide was saying “here look how poor these people are”. As we walked from location to location someone always approached us wanting to sell us something. Paul and I were glad the tour was free because if we ... read more

Paul and I have come to the conclusion that we are uncouth. Why you may ask. As a part of our freebies for sitting through that forever presentation we were invited to go to the resorts newest resort called the Velas Grand. It is a 5 Diamond Resort, what ever that means. We arrived and after going through a complete background check before they would give us menus. Ok I exaggerate but they had to make sure we were who we said we were. This place was so posh. We ordered Duck and Salmon, when it arrived on a plate twice the size of my head but food half the size of your palm I said “something is not right here!” The food was tasty but one bite and you were done, Paul said portion control, ... read more

Our butts sat by the pool for at least 4 hours today, did I tell you, and you can SWIM up to the bar! We had several drinks. I have found a new love, the Pina Colada it is YUMMY. Normally back home I love have a Blue Margarita (Margarita Azule) and I like it on the rocks. Everything here comes frozen, you can request on the rocks but I am not sure they completely understand me. I got a blue margarita and it was blue and it was the best darn blue margarita I had in a long time. Out of all our friends who said have a drink for me I think we have one or two to go we have had, Bloody Marry for Kenny, a Chocolate Martini for Dana, a Blue Margarita ... read more
