And so we are off on another worldly adventure. On May 16 we sailed under the Golden Gate Bridge signaling the end of our 2008 world cruising. Six months later on November 16 we drove over the Golden Gate Bridge on our way to Los Angeles to begin our next round of cruising. We certainly enjoyed our time on terra firma and made several trips in the United States. We visited family and friends in South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Arizona, Nevada and California. When we were in Sausalito we enjoyed numerous boating trips around San Francisco Bay. It was nice to reconnect with our friends both in our marina and at our swim club. We were kept busy attending to our yearly medical appointments, tax reports, visa applications, boat maintenance and all the other day ... read more

This takes us to an 11 hour drive from Manzanillo to another costal paradise. Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa are two towns across a bay from each other that have very different personalities. One is full of all-inclusive resorts perfectly landscaped with legible street signs and the other resembles what Andrew and I have been used to. So we stayed in Zih which had a nice market, sizable fishing activity, and plenty of people. We definitely get looks where ever we go and we are everyone´s "amigo." We took a water taxi to Ixtapa Island where everyone needed their hands greased and took in some good snorkeling. I don´t know how, but we´ve been pretty good at attracting people with a lot to say about where we are going. A Mick Jagger lookalike told us all about Guatemala ... read more

Taxco (pronounced tahss-ko) is built on a mountainside. It is a beautiful town with many hills. Seriously, if you wanna lose some weight and build huge legs, move to Taxco. I gained 20 pounds of leg muscle just by walking around town....many times uphill. There are no sidewalks either, so you also build speed by dodging cars that drive inches from you. A little more time here and I could try out for the NFL. All the buildings in Taxco are designed similarly and share the same white paint job. The Mexican government wanted to keep it's colonial look, so it enforces new structures to make sure they fit with the town's look. The houses are all built very close to one another...tight fit. The mercado is a maze. I kept getting lost in there. There ... read more

Thursday, March 27, 2008 Acapulco Adventure Category: Travel and Places This is a few months back when I wrote this along with some of my entries, please keep in mind the location, and date. *********************************************************************************** Typing this back in San Diego after my trip to Acapulco, Mexico. Anyway, so I completely thought we were leaving Thursday morning to Acapulco when in fact it was Wednesday night. I had just went to a model fitting in Del Mar at a designers house, was on my way back to my place to go out with my girlfriends before leaving when my friend Carlos called me telling me he was on his way to come pick us up. Completely baffled, I flew home whilst my gas tank told me E! I completely did not pay attention to the flight ... read more

Taxco is a beautiful city about 1 hr and 45 min from Cuernavaca. There are a lot of silver mines there and the city is known for its charm, beauty, cheap silver, artisan markets, and STEEP streets. We started at the base of the city and walked to the highest point in the city called the Cristo Monumental that looks over all of Taxco. We didn't do bad for walking at an elevation of 5,600 ft. We even made some friends along the way. Can you call them friends if you pay for their company? paz, enchilada y chimi... read more

Pacific coast August 15th - August 24th When we had arrived in Taxco we immediately attempted to purchase tickets to our next destination, Zihuatenejo. Unfortunately, unlike as we had thought, there was no direct route. This meant we had to get a bus from Taxco to Acapulco and then Acapulco to Zihuatenejo, meaning an extra 5 hours on our journey time... hey ho! The buses were pretty comfortable and during the change at Acapulco we managed to get some nice tostadas for lunch. On arrival in Zihuatenejo we got a taxi to our hostel, via another hostel which sounded similar, and then it was off to find the Jungle bar where the beers were only 10 pesos. The next morning it was pretty rainy. We headed into the centre to find some breakfast and ended up ... read more

Geo: 16.978, -100.212The alarm went off before 5 this morning so that I could go to the laundry room before the crowds got there. I wasn't the first but there were two empty machines. The machines weren't very good and so it was finished around 7:30. While I was at the laundry room I read and Nikki did get up and join me after a while. We arrived in Acapulco sometime around 6:00 am. It had rained all night long and was still raining. After finishing the laundry, we went back to the room. Nikki got in bed and I went out on the verandah to read some more and people watch all the folk getting off the ship.We got the girls up around 8:30 and got ready to go into Acapulco. We were planning on visiting ... read more

Zeee hwat? Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, made famous from Shawshank Redemption (although I do not remember that part) is a quaint town with not much going on. We stayed at "The Tides" which I believe is to be the best hotel in the city as it was definitely beautiful, great service and amenities as well as great hotel food. I ate Shrimp Ceviche like it would never again be available, 4 days in a row. I also gave in to chicken a couple of times, as strange as it sounds there is not much to offer in terms of vegetarian out here. I certainly did not lose any weight on this trip, I might be back where I was pre Jenny. Each day Craig would go down to the beach and reserve our palapas (umbrellas over beach beds) about ... read more
