It was in San Cristobal de las Casas and Chamula that I more realized how we (humanity) are disabled with disbelives called religions. And that the CROSS is not more than a termination of humanity by putting a nail across our chacra. The day that we take the nail out of our heart and release our god's given energy and let if flow through our chacra, that day we will be able to break the human made gods represented as various religions and live as free souls. ... read more

Mexicans have a laid-back attitude that makes Aussies look like a nation of workaholic, 'Punctual Pete´s'. The country operates on G.M.T. but its not Greenwich Mean Time like you might think. It stands for General Mexican Time, and it means something can take anywhere from 2 minutes to 2 weeks. As long as you're prepared for this, then its alright. Since Tara and I left the US on the last day of my visa, its been an action packed month in Mexico. We flew from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas at the bottom of the Baja California peninsula. The area around Cabo is beautiful- golden sand beaches with great rock formations, mild waters and mountain ranges in the distance. Its also very American, with respect to language, shopping, food and prices. We had 2 days ... read more

It was a pretty bus ride from Palenque to San Cristobal. 5 hours of windy roads that took us from the jungle to high pine forest. We had booked ahead with Posada Mexico which was a good thing because they had no room available otherwise. We got a big room in a pleasant complex of buildings. It was Monday so we found museums closed but we enjoyed a walk around the town which was beautiful with a colourful red and yellow cathedral, pleasant plazas and picturesque colonial houses. We found the craft market and were impressed with the amount of hand made local tourist tat. In particular the cute felt animals. Much searching soon rewarded us with a blue elephant and we got a lovely pussy cat as well for P$70 (US$6.70). Probably could have got ... read more

Hola papis y mamis!

... read more

After taking it easy in Puerto Escondido for a few days we headed north to San Cristobal de las Casas which is a beautiful mexican mountain town surrounded by some incredible indigenous mayan villages. From San Cristobal we hired a car with the intention of heading north to the Palenque ruins for a night, returning on the next day. As we attempted to find one of the villages, we got completely lost in the hills and subjected our poor little volkswagen derby to some terrain that it was never intended to cross. We´re talking some serious offroading - up and down steep, muddy, boulder ridden tracks across the mexican highlands to a town called Cancuc - 30km from the nearest paved road - and the site of jenny´s first experience of having the attention of an ... read more

After a calm crossing to mainland Mexico we were rudely awakened as soon as we got out of the ferry port. It was back to the Whakey Races, Penelope Pitstop accompanied by one of the Ugg brothers (That´s if you are old enough to remember that cartoon). As our maps weren´t that good we decided to stick to the Pacific coastline and if we ever got lost we just had to make sure that we had the sea on our right hand side. We have bumped into fellow travellers and picked their brains for good stop offs, they have usually laughed at our lack of maps (thanks Lew and Carol for your advice). The vegetation was very different to the arid, desert, cacti strewn landscape of the Baja. We were now driving through lush green rainforests ... read more

At san marcos, a surprise dinner was done for my departure, some good friends where made and much learned including reiki level 1 and 2 - reiki attunements where on a volcano above the lake with eagles circling - pretty cool stuff and so so cheap here. Distance reiki? - now theres a concept and a half! Some amazing people here doing so much for local kids and the local environment, very inspiring. When i left san marcos I went back into mexico (the border was crazy as was the driver for the full 9 hours!) and onto san cristibol - a beautiful mountainous city where all the musicians and creative ppl come. So hot in the day and so freezing in the night. I was planning to fly to the UK but 2 friends from ... read more
