PEI!! We love you!!! We arrived in PEI after cycling 81 kms to get to the ferry. We had planned to find a nice place to camp on the other side of the water in PEI and call it a day until we arrived there...it was warm, breeze-less, hill-less, green; it was absolutely amazing and had Brad and I wondering how a 70 minute ferry ride could bring us from a grey fisherman's land to lush green paradise!! We were so pumped we eneded up cycling another 36 km before arriving in Orwell. Orwell is a little historic town that we expected to be much like Fort Langley. We expcected a nice small town to spend the evening in and at the least, we hoped for a gas station so we could get some supplies ... read more

To FrederictonBrad and Treena From Charlottetown PEI, to here in Fredericton has been our most consistent biking of the trip. We are consisitently biking 100km day after day, and are now giving ourselves a break. Today is the first day we have had off since we started cycling again from Stephenville. From Charlottetown we rode 60km to the Confederation Bridge. Bikes are not allowed on the bridge, so we had to be shuttled across. There is a toll booth, cameras, traffic workers who think they are cops, its not one of those things where you can just go for it. It is also 12, or maybe 20 km long. We stopped for snacks after the shuttle. and biked another 50 km to where we camped. We had 2 more hugely rewarding days to follow. The first ... read more

These early morning flights are killers. Leaving Anchorage like leaving darwin at 2 in the morning. We have had such an emotional sendoff: sad to leave Lisa who has been such a fantastic host, elated to have just seen bears and not only one but four, must local local would never have such an experience; sad again because we have come to the end of our Alaskan adventure so jam packed with heart stopping moments and as Maree said " I have never had such a sustained good time in my entire life"; but once again prepared for new challenges and more adventures. Through boarding security "You have been selected (once again) to participate in our increased security measures......come this way". It Maree's bloody hair, I am sure. Again everything off . Oh, the sweet justice. I am writing this on Monday, after having worked like I have never worked before all day Saturday and Sunday. I am relishing this day off, even more so because it is a day where most of those people that I was running around for are now working. Ahhhh… Jono is away for work, scoping out a new area that the company has never been to before, and will be back on Wednesday. We both had a day off together on Friday and went snow shoeing, which was awesome. Factors that made it awesome include: · The cost of the day was $1.75. I bought a pair of second-hand snowshoes for Jono ($1.75) and hired a pair for myself for free, courtesy of my job (one of the perks). · The ... read more

After a cappuccino, and some WiFi time it was back on the truck and on the way to Lake Louise. We stopped at Lake Louise Mall to get info about bus travel for Jill who is returning to England. From the Mall Lake Louise was 45 min away to the lake and a ½ km to the camp site. This night was spent at a campsite inside an electrified fence. On the way to the showers a grizzly with two cubs was seen outside the electric fence. We all watched until it became dark. The bear count has reached over 20 since the beginning of the trip. The morning wakeup was early so that the 7:00 bus could be met by four of our group. I went with the truck so that I could have ... read more

Hello everyone, Well I am back to work in the Yukon, in a small town called Faro. There is about 400 people living here. It's a pretty quiet little town compared to other communities I've worked in, and I mean quiet, like nobody is out and about after 9 pm, nobody. Luckily, I'm a loner and don't really care. I've been so busy travelling over the past 6 months, it's kind of nice to have a place to unpack and some time to reflect on my recent adventures. Of course it's also good to have an income again. Faro is a 5 hour drive northeast of Whitehorse. It used to be a busy mining town back in the 70s, so there are all these abandoned buildings around town, which looks kind of depressing, but makes ... read more

hi this is short and to the point - no time, 20 mins left and the net cost lik 6$ for an hour so as you'd imagine I'm not dawdaling with the time. so since last blog, iv spent lots of money and seen lots and camped like a seasoned camper, with dick francis at one side, paul at the other, mosquitoes outside- a tent has never been so inviting! so we were in Algonquin for 4 days, we hiked - 11km if you dont mind!were privilaged to come across moose - no less than 3 sightings and as many birds of different colours with so many differnet calls as e could hear or see at any one time, it was like a bird convention. the moose were fab, long snouts, pointy ears, strong shoulders, patchy ... read more
