Here are the photo's to go with our 6th week. And just a correction on the blog - no it doesn't get dark at 9:30am, meant to be 9:30pm. We had a little trouble transferring portrait photos including the waterfall - but hope other shots make up for it. Enjoy! ... read more

(Sorry no photos) Oliver - We went to where Avrey was staying at a campground, we had spaghetti pasta and played on the tyre swing. The next day Avrey came over and we watched spongebob square pants then had taco', they were yummy - but Avrey did not have any. We got soaked in the sprinkler and Foster thought we would get warm beside a disco ball in the garage. We left Oliver and drove up to a resort and the pool was green. We went exploring and saw beavers and a pony that looked like a donkey but it was a mule. After that we got ice cream. My favourite part of the trip to the next place was stopping off at Enchanted Forest where they had small houses and nursery rhymes. I had my ... read more

Day 49 to Day 53, May 2-May 6 We always spend more time than planned as there is so much to see and do. We are at least three days behind our original plan. But who cares! On Friday we left the wonderful small town of Florence after eating delicious fish the night before and spent the day exploring the sand dunes but did not ride a dune buggy, as planned, as the timing was wrong. We spent the night in Lincoln, Oregon another beautiful small town and were fortunate to have a room right on the ocean front. How soothing it is to sleep with the sounds of the waves pounding the shore all night. We left Lincoln and spent he day doing more exploring along the coast of Oregon. We visited the Tillamook Cheese ... read more

DAY 15: Tuesday 27th April 2010 - KELOWNA (by Darryl) Today was the day to start the big road trip, and as we were packing had a call from Peter Choi to invite us back to the dealership for breakfast before we left. After a hearty cooked breakfast and some photos for the blog, we said our goodbyes and hit the road. Peter really looked after us and we really appreciate the time and effort he put into helping us out. There wasn’t a day that we didn’t get a call from him to check up on things and help get the car sorted. If you are ever in Vancouver looking for a car - go and see Peter Choi at Carter GM for great service! Our journey starts on Highway 1, and although a bit ... read more

Hi all, been an interesting few weeks in Banff, the snow stopped and it got warm so our lovely winter wonderland turned into a brown, sludgy, muddy mess. It seemed that no snow was in sight, so we took Priscilla out to stretch her legs and drove 8 hours to Big White to stay with a girl we know from back home, Catherine. We left after everyone left work, 6pm and arrived in the early hours of the night. In Banff there was no snow left on the side of the roads but the snow in Big White was piled up over our heads by the side of the road. Catherine's house was in the village which is half way up the hill on the ski out, so when we woke up to a clear blue ... read more

We took our time driving through British Columbia and decided to spend a week in the Okanagan Valley. How lovely! Just north of central Washington State, a string of lakes run north/south through an arid high desert. The valleys are irrigated and chock full of very nice wineries and fruit orchards. It is quite the Canadian vacation spot. We visited some wineries and bought lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. I made marinara from a box of tomatoes @ $0.40/lb. Patti made a great peach soup, which was really like a delicious peach smoothie. We said goodbye to our friends as they headed east and we headed south to Washington. This time, we got boarded at U.S. Customs and had to go outside while they searched the bus. We also had to open all the storage ... read more

Phew! At last we have reached the main focus of our holiday in North America as we arrived safely in Kelowna, British Columbia. The jorney up yeaterday took about 7 hours but included a couple of stops, the main one ina place called Hope - no sign of Bob anywhere - but we did have a picnic beside a beautiful mountain lake, it was stunning and we began to appreciate the beauties of Canada after the busyness of Vancouver. We drove up through the mountains and eventually reached Kelowna and had a happy reunion with Lyndon, Laura and the kids, Charlotte, Jamieson and Jacob. We had a BBQ in their backyard - looked like a garden to me?- and then made our way to the cabin we are staying in this week. Then disaster struck! Just ... read more
