We walked north today to get a different feel for larnaca since we have been to town every single day. The northern beaches are where all the resorts are, just wanted to see what we were missing. IT was a hot and windy day and we sat on the beach and enjoyed the oceans blues and greens. We both did not want to be walking in the heat of the day so we got back to the hotel around 1:30 and was ready to go to the pool and chill out, but instead we hung out and took naps. I honestly think that my body doesnt know what to do since I am on vacation, it is a nice feeling. Tomorrow is our last day in Cyprus and I can not wait. We honestly have been ... read more

Venturing into town round two. We decided that we were deff not walking this time. I went to bed dredding that walk thinking I would have to do it again today.. not only once, but twice. So we waited for the bus and noticed that it does not come every 1/2 an hour we were waiting at least 40 min. We got into town in 5 minutes instead of forever it was so much nicer. We went to the promenade since there was going to be traditional Greek dancing and it was pretty cool and then we went to the beach and laid out for hours which then meant of course I got fried like no other. I was wearing my hadaya necklace so I have this little aread on my chest which is not red ... read more

After gregorys we came back to plan the next couple days of our vacation. Tx started to tell me about a couple ideas but I couldnt keep my eyes open I was sleeping by 10;30.. then we got a knock on the door around midnight or so asking for Constance. It was kinda comical in away because the guy was so delirious that he knocked on the wrong door. When we asked what can we do for him he looked at us like he was a deer in headlights. The 4/4 we woke up early because breakfast was only being served until 9:15 and we wanted to attempt the un atemptable.. walk into town. While we were walking we got honked at like a million times its as if they have ever seen a pedestrian. We ... read more

We get there to try to check in which is not until 1pm unless you pay 20 euro to get to your room earlier. Turkish girls are very mysterious, constant reader. I flew from Van to Istanbul to catch a connection on the next flight bound for Cyprus. So anyways, the girl at the airport check in does her thing on the computer with passports and stuff, then while looking straight at me without talking she reaches towards my face. Self consciously I started flicking at my chin, as I'd just spent three days in Van without a mirror and god only knows how I looked. She keeps looking at me silently, reaches out further and lightly touches my hair with her hand. It was all very mysterious... Cyprus itself just screams money, and I just scream! Having been let down by a failed wireless connection at the airport in Istanbul, I wasn't able to do any research on accommodation ... read more

In July of 2008 I spent about 11 days in Cyprus. I was lucky because a good friend of mine, Theano, is from Cyprus and was there when I visited. She and her sister, Petroula, were great tour guides and I was fortunate enough to get to spend time with their family and to eating great meals with them! I was also able to visit with families of two other friends Maria and Theodora and I felt like all I did was eat . . . Maria's Mom makes the best cake! . . . and Theodora's family had so much good food! So, it's always different when you get the chance to visit another country and spend time with natives. I stayed in Larnaka and was able to take in most of the island on ... read more

Well we've been here a week now and gradually getting our feet under the table. At first we didn't really know where we lived. I know that's a strange thing to say, but we were driven out the first time by the Estate Agent, to this and another couple of properties. So, not knowing the area we had to ask for directions and it took us until the third time to drive straight here, without making a wrong turn. We both had a less than fully healthy week. The journey from Kos through Turkey, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, then in Cyprus was to say the least arduous. The ferry from Tasucu to Kyrenia (Girne) was very old and the pair of us picked up sore throats, which we attribute to the ferry. So, we have ... read more

Wednesday 21st January, 2009. Today is 17 weeks travelling. We relaxed for a while in the room. Not long after six, we went to the internet room todo some surfing. Then for a walk to get something to eat. Pat was allowing me a chinese again tonight. There were a few that we had spotted, but we ended up down near the front at a place called Chloe's. Very ornate and smart on the outside. The inside turned out to as good. We had an excellent meal with wonderful service and I would recommend. Not cheap, but very good. We had a Hot & Sour Soup and a Fried Won Tons, then a quarter Beijing duck. Then Lemon Chicken and Hot Chilli beef and fried rice. With drinks and a coffee and a jasmine tea, total ... read more

Monday, 19th January, 2009. The Hotel is a large Seafront resort hotel with lots of facilities. Pat took advantage of the indoor swimming pool and sauna. I had a sleep. We left the room sometime after six and went exploring the Hotel, we found the bar. Pat celebrated our arrival in Cyprus with a couple of glasses of sparkling wine and I had a coke light and a coffee. A number of British people in the bar. We found our way round the rest of the Hotel and then ventured out into local territory. Straight across from the Hotel are several property places, showing places for sale or rent. So we may simply wander over in the morning to start our search. We walked towards the Tourist area, the evening was mild, and a pleasure to ... read more
