It was like having christmas with the army... or an orphanage... or a mental institution! At ten O'clock in the morning - as ungodly an hour as there ever was - the fire alarm went off so that everyone would wake up and congregate in the main lounge. Everyone had begun to wonder why no mail had been coming in for the past couple of weeks, but as we arranged our many selves around the tree, it became quite clear with all of the battered-looking, air-mailed packages piled up around it that it'd been held hostage. Even the usually-surly night porter grinned like a little kid as he unwrapped his 'Secret Santa' gift of "The Jumbo Book of Dot-To-Dot Pictures"! Ash, Alaya and I nominated ourselves to be Santa's (a.k.a Crazy Polish Chef) little helpers in ... read more

Ok well, I am now safely back home in San Jose, but dont' worry, I will recap the last month. So when i last left you, i was about to head down to Brighton. Well, I think that Brighton, despite being the gay capital of England and therefore Europe, is my favorite town in England. Of course I love London, but Brighton was so great. Could it be due to the fact that I arrived on a Thursday and the very next night conveniantly, a local club was having a Morrissey tribute night? SO glorious. And at this club they even had play-doh for people to create their own version of Morrissey. I won't go into detail about some of the atrocities some people created. Brighton was just really beautiful and clean and well, just imagine ... read more

I’m back in Ireland for Christmas! I arrived on Monday evening, from London. I left Melbourne last Friday evening and 24 hours later I was in London having breakfast with Lisa in Mc Donald’s by King’s Cross (it was 7:30am so nothing else was opened!). The flight wasn’t too bad as I was lucky enough to get a seat with all the leg room I needed and slept most of the way as I’d had quite a big night out in St Kilda the night before. After a quick turn around at Lisa’s place we headed back to Heathrow to catch a flight to Glasgow where The Frames were playing that night. It was zero degrees when we landed but the sun was shining (it had been one degree when I landed in London). We stayed ... read more

After waving goodbye to Italy we boarded our plane - destination Scotland - home of the knickerless kilt wearers, haggis and Billy Conolly. Also the place where we were to meet up with Paula, Aaron and Bridie to stay in our cottage to celebrate the Christmas week. After meeting up with the guys our first task was to find the cottage.. With Aaron driving and lauren as our map girl it seemed easy enough as it was only 45 minutes out of Edinburgh. Well supposedly 45 minutes away. In actuality it was more like 2 1/2 hours and with 5 people plus luggage packed, and I mean packed, into our tiny Micra hire car we were happy to see the sign for Kirkmill Cottage - our home for the next week. Second task was to organise ... read more

At this point, we don't really care if you like these pictures or not. Or even if you look at them for that matter. How would we know anyway because none of you &^%" ever comment. Grrr. ANYWAY, here they are, for your viewing pleasure. Aren't you lucky. But don't thank us, thank Leith Library for giving us some extra computer time. All we do is give, give, give... Merry Christmas. :)... read more

Greetings from St. Andrews (pop: 12,000… half of which are students)! This town is one of the more beautiful I have ever seen. I have included an inordinate amount of photos for this reason. Latest leg started by me missing my flight from London to Glasgow (cost for stupidity: ₤165). RyanAir did change the departure gate 3 times mind you in a 1 hour period before the flight… still not my brightest moment. Anyhow, I then got into a Mercedes A150 (the cars they have here are great… so much more variety than in N. America and diesel diesel diesel galore!) and jetted up to St. Andrews. I did drive along the right hand side of the road for a while, but the oncoming traffic with horns blaring and lights flashing helped ‘guide’ me to the ... read more
