Oy, Last night, I took a shower. The "shower" is roughly a third of the size is my closet at home. I share it with Laura, Marian, and Drew who all live on my floor. I also share it with all the other flats in the building. That's 12 people and 1 "shower." I'm not trying to complain because at least I can take a shower. The buildings here are really hideous art deco, Wizard of Oz looking things, but the actual campus is beautiful. There are lush green rolling hills srinkled with wild flowers. Yesterday evening, we decided to walk around them and enjoy the picturesque English countryside. While walking up the hill, I noticed a black thing on my shoe. It was a huge, fat, slimey slug! The guy next to me had them ... read more

London is an extraordinary city. It's vibrant and modern, everything moves at a frantic pace. Only the history seems to hold still, but there's enough of that to counter the chaotic speed of it's 7 million citizens. Every step seemed to land on something historic. The new buildings are squeezed in and on top of the old in any manner necessary. West Minister Abbey is a perfect example. The interior, at first glance, could be mistaken for a sculpture warehouse where the stock boy saw now need for order. And, if you don't look out, you may just step over Lawrence Olivier's ashes. The one palce Londoners seemed to slow down was the courtyard at St. Paul's. The hostel was nice and we had both good Thai food and fish and chips. The Tube was a ... read more

Whoever said that the east of Europe is catching up with the west at a rapid rate was singularly on his own expressing this opinion.... we arrived in Prague last Saturday night. For booze mentalists and stag weekenders this journey has seemingly become the road to el dorado. Quite frankly the place is full of drunks and whores. To put it mildly.... and truthfully. There are places of interest and there is plenty to do, but I'm of the inate belief that a city as overrun with casinos, strip joints and brits is in a state of terminal freefall, although the rooms at the holiday inn were very pleasant..... and they have good taste in cured meats. So after a few days in 'fabulous' Praha, it was all aboard the Night Train to Budapest. Not being ... read more

Hello other side of the world, Well. I am completely out of my mind tired, but it's too hot in my dorm to sleep. Who would have thought England is hot? Things are confusing. Very confusing. The fact that I arrived here on my own without screwing up gives me strength...flight delays, plane problems, train tickets, little villages, school IDs, an overwhelming campus built and not changed since the 60's. 'Nough bitchin though. but really things are just a bit out of order over here, which is why I am emailing and typing from the library. However, I have great faith that things will improve when classes start. Anyway, 3 1/2 months isnt too long, right? Just kidding. I know I will adapt and have a blast. Right now, I'm just somewhere between culture shock and ... read more

We went on a trio to the Rhineland, a nice way to celebrate Kasia's 30th. To make it a relaxing journey, we took the ferry from Hull, so we would only have a short overland journey from Zeebrugge. For all you port and maritime interest fans, here is a snap of the Port of Hull, East Yorkshire.... read more

Fulham Thursday 1st September, woke up thinking it was only 4am, was in fact 7am and I was late for my early cappuccino at the Mimosa Street Starbucks. They truly do a very ordinary coffee but are a hotspot for free wireless internet access! Ordered a grande café latte and proceeded to write yesterday’s journal about our time at the Millennium Dome, I then scoured the smh.com.au to discover that John Brogden had attempted suicide so I quickly switched back to London time zone and started to think about the day ahead. Today (Thursday 1st September) is my last day in Fulham for a about a week. Tomorrow morning I’m flying to the Republic of Ireland for a week of relaxation (I hope) and to spend some time with the Irish side of the family. So ... read more

Today was the big day - the start of my big European adventure! My first stop is England to visit my friend Ian who I met on my cross country bus trip. Since I used frequent flier miles, I had to take a round about route to get to London - Charlotte to Dallas then Dallas to London. On the London leg I sat next to a nice girl visiting her husband in London. We headed into the city together on the Gatwick Express train. I checked my baggage in at the train station and left to explore the city until Ian got off work later that day. The train station was really near to many of the major London sights. I walked over to the Thames River and headed north until I hit the Houses ... read more

Kia ora everyone, well my time in Newquay is comming to an end, I finished work with the bungy and road buggys 2 days ago. Was kinda sad to be pulling it all down after such a great 2 months chilling out there in the sun everyday. I was really lucky to get that job and have such a cool crew however im sure my liver doesnt agree. We had a huge weekend for bank holiday when the population boosts up to like 200 thousand from 16 thousand during winter. 12 Kiwi friends from London came down and it was mayhem, The All Blacks game at 8am Sat morn kicked it all off and it ended monday morning.
