Well, after a lovely week in Germany it is back to the grindstone here in wet and windy England. Since returning to England, life has been relaxed with only a couple of job interviews for me to break up the days. The first interview went well but I didn't want the job. I had a similarly positive experience at the second interview and this job is literally 10 minutes up the road. Shame I'm not so interested in that one either. Still, it's a possibility and I'm pleased to say I have been invited to a second interview, so things are looking good. The feelers are out on other things for both me and Glynn, so I'll keep you posted if anything more happens. The really good news is that we have checked and double-checked ... read more

Might as well get this blog started... we've got our Visas for Oz sorted out, nice and easy to do online... had to send off a bunch of more complicated forms to the Thai embassy in Hull today. I hope everything works out ok, we've gone for a 90-day multiple entry visa which should mean we don't have to worry about getting our Visa updated every 30 days, but there's more chance of us failing the application and having to apply again for a more basic tourist visa, so fingers crossed. Hull is flooded and underwater at the moment so i'm hoping our passports don't end up swimming off, i don't fancy another rush trip to Liverpool like before (TC!). We will try and keep this updated and upload some photos and vids when we get ... read more

So I leave in about 36 hours, but before I do my final journey about England, here are the past few days... So on Sunday, people didnt get up till really late. It was like 330 before I saw more than just Christian and Kobi for a minute. Once people had gotten up, Chris and I went to Tesco and I went tanning. When we came back, I made some lunch, and from there on out Im pretty sure we all just chilled and watched Arrested Development. We must have watched about 3 hours worth, so that we finished the first season of about 22 episodes in 2 days, CRAZY. Anyways, I think from there on out we all just hung out and played tennis and whatnot. We tried to figure out what we were gonna ... read more

So Im back in the states. I miss the UK. My last day at the flat was really bittersweet. I got up at like 11 and just laid in bed for a while, enjoying one last morning in my room. I then watched my favorite episode of Veronica Mars because I knew I would need to give season 1 back to Jonny. Eventually I got up and ready to run errands. I showered and then went around campus. I tried to pick up the movie Bobby from the Humanities building but the woman I needed wasnt there, so I then went to the Arts Center to pick up some cards for my flatmates and thank you cards for us to send to parents for letting us stay at their houses during the road trips. The cars ... read more

OK folks, I need to know if this is working (i.e. if I've done it right and haven't succumbed to my usual techno-peasantry). Apologies to those who have no interest. If you don't want to receive any more of these while I'm away please let me know. Jude xx... read more

Some people who return from a year's travelling are glad to make it home and settle back into the old routine. I think you might have noticed by now that we're not that type of people! So, when my father rang and suggested we go over to Germany to see him for a few days, all expenses paid, naturally we jumped at the chance. Glynn's only been to the Black Forest once and it was wintertime then so it will be great to show him around my birthplace in all its summery beauty. I'll be sure to keep you posted of our continuing adventures along with plenty more photos :-)) The past week has seen us plunge headfirst into the ardous task of finding a job. So far, I've applied for two although only one ... read more

So quite a bit has happened in the past week or so. Last Sunday I studied for the exam I had this past Saturday, I been stressing because with Livia there, I really wouldnt have much time to study, plus this stupid exam was worth 100% of the course grade (I do not like the way they do that here). Anyways, later that night, I asked Melissa to get some money out for me from the ATM, £150, or $300. I figure with Livia being here and all I would need quite a bit to get through the week. She gave it to me and I had in the kitchen for the rest of the evening. When I left I took my things with me to my room. About an hour later I realized I didnt ... read more

DILEMMA. caught a taxi there, the guy ripped me off becaus he drove away before i got all my change. how rude. the bus ride was uneventful and Greg was waiting at the station. Monday monday was fantastic. i spent the day watching Birmingham First XI playing cricket. Greg scored a half century and carried his team through but the game was eventually abandoned due to poor weather. caught up with George and Sandra that night and watched Pearl Harbour on Gregs projector and Bose sound system. dad, forget the LCD or plasma tv. get one of these. ... read more
