Hi Everyone It feels like an age since I last updated you on our progress so high time I got to it. Since booking our flights to New Zealand, we have been travelling up and down the country trying to squeeze in as many visits as possible. En route we have been back to Swindon (hello Linda, Tony, Liam, Danny, Rachel, David and baby Logan), over to London (hello Jane & Dan) and up to Hull (hello to all my step-family), all in between working and packing. I'm exhausted just thinking about it! As if that weren't enough running about, tomorrow I'm leaving Glynn behind and heading off to Munich to see my sister and my mum who has flown over from Greece. It's a shame I won;t get to see my step-dad or that Glynn ... read more

2007 Summed up... After 26 flights, 2 broken down boats, 1 boat that nearly sunk, a near broken shoulder, dozens of horrific bus journeys, 8 months on a scooter without falling off, 6 countries, I dread to think how much alcohol, 1 mean weed pizza, not enough mushrooms shakes, so many sunsets, a few less sunrises, a zillion new friends, shorter hair, at least 15 pairs of flip flops, learning to dive, discovering plenty more drinking games, playing chess on the beach, wearing a toilet seat home, having a house with a pool, nearly drowning in the sea, teaching English, getting pickpocketed, being a mahout, learning new languages, living out of a backpack, 49 weeks and working only 6 of them I'm finally home. Hope you have all enjoyed my blog as much as I have ... read more

Back in the UK.... I flew into Heathrow this morning, what a shock to the system...don't think I have been in temperatures of below 30 degrees in 1 year! My last few days in Indonesia were spent in Seminyak, Bali. I partied some more with Ash and his friend Kerri who also joined us in Gilly Trawagan. I was going to stay in Gilly Trawangan until my flight on 20th December but I had some money stolen from me by a local who I befriended. So I left ASAP as the Gilly's are not a place where you want to cause trouble. Bali was good, I've been twice before though, the novelty has kind of worn off. Especially with Kuta. We met a crazy French couple who we went out with nearly every night. In factm ... read more

Hello! And welcome to my upstairs bathroom! What!? I hear you cry; why another entry so close to the last, and why the upstairs bathroom? I can answer both questions with one word... Technology. For today i got my phone back from nokia, all shiny and refurbished, and as such, it is time to test its remote blogging capabilities. The reason i purchased a good phone is for the very reason that on occasion computers wont be available and hence i will need to keep people updated from the palm of my hand! So see this as a trial, a teaser, even a tester! ... read more

I think more than ever, I feel the trip is getting close. Which probably isn't all that surprising fact as due to the natural workings of the spacetime continuum, the trip is as close as it ever has been. Have had some further injections, and have got a cold. Maybe it is a mild strain of typhoid? Or maybe it is Man-flu, we may never know. Anyway, have been researching Anti-Malarials and it looks like Doxycycline is getting the nod. Admittedly Malerone is milder and has less side effects, but it costs 10x as much, so Ill put up with the photo-sensitivity and dizzy spells that one must become accustomed with on Doxy. Apart from that, there is nothing really to update - these pre-trip posts really are just me practicing writing a journal/blog. I suppose ... read more

My sister Jaimee flats with her boyfriend Joel and three other lads. One of them - Simon is a huge West Bromwich Albion football team supporter. They have a huge rivalry with a neighbouring team the Wolverhampton Wanderers. The clash is known as the Black Country Derby. Sounds menacing doesn’t it. And it is, I have just now read Wikipedia and it states: ‘In 2008 it was listed as the fiercest rivalry in English football.’ Simon managed to score us some tickets for the game so we decided to make a weekend of it. Friday night I met up with Jaimee and Joel and trained out to Heathrow, where Simon and Ryan had picked up a rental car. About 3 hours later after listening to hard rock, talking about sport and a huge feed of KFC ... read more

S'up folks! I'm aware that no-one is actually reading this blog at the moment, and certainly won't be until we leave for the trip, but in the interests of posterity I feel the time is right for a pre-trip update! Since my last post, the adventure certainly seems much closer. I am currently carrying strains of Hepatitis, Typhoid, and Diptheria to name just a few, with plenty vaccinations to come. Need to book in Yellow Fever which is going to cost £40+. After a cost/risk analysis, I have decided to ignore the advice of medical professionals and go without Rabies vaccinations. I figure if any rabid dog wants to bite me, Ill just kick it in the face before it gets the chance. After-all as a westerner, I am invincible and can't possibly be affected by ... read more
