Hi it is Ruth blogging today - probably because we had a day of shopping or rest as I like to call it! Wandered around Leamington Spa today beautiful town and had a nice lunch in the park then headed out to Warwick again to go for a lovely walk through the wheat fields. Stumbled accross a little cottage in need of some DIY but you can check it out in the pics. Had dinner at the Cricketers Arms just around the corner and have decided it is currently ranked number one pub of the trip, great food, great atmosphere oh and Andrew says great ales. Also Lucy is modelling some new items that perhaps we may have found when checking out the historical shop fronts in town :-) Rxx... read more

This is my first official post on the blog that grandson Ben had to set up for me. I'm getting excited now. I am taking my filled rucksack to Wales this weekend for Terry Price to criticise, as he's not agreed with any purchases I've made so far.... read more

Ok. Today's the day for packing the bags, stripping down and securely bubble wrapping the bike ready for its flight to Lithuania in the morning. Remember the saying; Tickets, Passport, Wallet. We all say it and check about 12 times that we've got everything. I'm trying to remember how I felt this time last year. Nervous, definitely, but this year I think I am extra nervous remembering how tough it was last time and this year were riding even further in less time. Oh well I will feel better when we've arrived and the bike is re-assembled. See you soon.... read more

What should I start this blog with? Perhaps the weather again which seems quite topical. They used to say that in Britain we can see four seasons in one day and this was certainly true before the days of global warming. At the moment we seem to be suffering either drought in Southern England or heavy rain. And of course overnight you guessed it – rain again drumming on Suzy’s roof. It still though has not dampened our enthusiasm for motorhoming. Note to ourselves when we arrive home to think about water butts for the garden. Our potatoes are planted and the broad beans growing well. Slugs have decimated the courgettes but we have peas, lettuce and runner beans in pots ready to go out. The carrots and beetroot due to the weather have been washouts ... read more

Yet another rainy night. They seem never ending. The rain dripping onto the van roof does however have a cathartic effect. Welcoming, warm inside with the heating running and soothing. However, despite enjoying the pitter patter of the rainfall it does dampen enthusiasm for sightseeing. Everywhere looks so much cleaner, tidier and brighter in the sunshine. We seem though to be having none of that lately. After breakfast we set off for the Park and Ride on the outskirts of Stratford. It had recently opened and provided a clean and modern site with ample parking for cars and a specialised area for motorhomes. We had hoped it would be as good as the older sites of Chester and Shrewsbury and it seemed better. The Warwickshire blurb on line told us that the buses ran frequently to ... read more

What a good nights sleep. Peace and quiet and watching the stars before the night sky clouded over and the rain started . The dripping on the roof lights sounding like gentle drumming but it felt very reassuring. Before the darkness fell we watched rigs arriving and leaving. Caravans of all shades and sorts – some old – some new. Motorhomes – Roma home types and larger outfits. It was interesting scrutinizing their gadgets from miniscule satellite dishes to wheely containers for waste water. We found those interesting and possibly useful but pondered on where they could be stored. Some rigs had aluminium foil blinds which I did not like although I guess they have some merit. We have found in the six weeks since we purchased Suzy that we have developed a coping strategy. There ... read more

For a couple of days we pondered - should we go or should we stay? What was putting us off - well one or two things. Firstly the weather which was changeable to say the least. March is supposed to come in like a lion and go out like like a lamb. However, the wind did not arrive, instead we had heavy torrential rain, sleet and even a covering of snow which blanketed the ground and made the country look as if it had fallen into the depths of Winter again. This was followed by glorious sunshine which out did the weather in the south of France. The second thing that put us off was the impending petrol tanker drivers strike which could have left us without petrol for our first trip in the van to ... read more
