Yeah Baby, yeah! Were off to Liverpool and the Beatles Museum led by our trusty Tom-Tom Navigator (GPS thingumy). Luckily for me, (as I like tunnels so much), Tom-Tom led us under the Mersey river in a tunnel. Unluckily, it was: A) The complete wrong direction B) £1.30 once you reached the other side. To say that we were a bit angry with Tom-Tom when, as soon as we paid our tunnel toll, it told us to go back under the river in the tunnel and pay again is an understatement. Note to self: Bellowing at Tom-Tom doesn't help, he just gets more polite, but no more accurate. We finally found the Beatles museum after asking a real-life person directions (It was on the Albert Docks) The Doorman to the museum was a John Lennon lookalike ... read more

so the wedding was interesting, i danced with my grandma which was nice, she is actually a much better dancer than i thought she would be. Halfway through the wedding they started playing 80's rock and the bride and her friends were all up rocking out hard for a long time. It was kind of awkward. Like typing on a french keyboard (which i am dooing right now). met my cousin steven on sunday and his two year old sam. Their house is new and has fire doors that have springs to close them, but sam cought his thumb in the door and while i dont think there is any damage it was bleeding alot. It was sad because sam is so cute, and i saw it happening and stopped the door from closing all the ... read more

Hi all, just a quick note to let you know that the server containing our blogs crashed recently, and a lot of what we had written was lost. However, we have been able to recover most/all of it by looking at some cached files on our home computer (and Nick H has been v. helpful too). So we think it should mostly be returned to normal soon, but you may receive messages to say that new entries have been published when in fact they are just old ones being reinstated, so apologies if that happens. ... read more

We all slept in some today (after getting in so late last night) - didn't get to breakfast until 10am. By the time we we done, it was pouring outside so we held off on our touring for a while. First, down Matthew Street, home of the Cavern Club where the Beatles got their start to fame. We went to Albert Dock, where lots of sights were. Saw the Merseyside Maritime Museum, with lots of info and history about Liverpool as a ship-building and port city. Then an attraction called 'The Beatles Story', an exhibition about the Beatles starting with their childhood. It was very well done and interesting. Stopped at a restaurant on our walk back to the hotel and had a good dinner - one of the few we've eaten at a decent ... read more

Ok, Liverpool was a touch on the dull side. Nothing against the town itself, but it is a bit Disney makeover-ish. We did get to go on a Beatles driving tour and see some really great stuff from the history of that band, which was cool. In addition to seeing their homes we got to see things like Penny Lane, an orphanage where John Lennon use to befriend the young orphaned boys, called Strawberry Fields, and ended the evening with a drink at The Cavern Club, which isn’t really the actual Cavern Club, it’s down the road and across the street. It was very small, very crowded, and very hot. Add to this the very, very loud guitarist playing average cover versions of songs and I made a point of getting out of there asap. Sadly, ... read more

We are finally here! After a year of planning it seems unreal. We landed at Heathrow and headed up to Chorley arriving in time for the last session of the day at the Preston temple. We got a room at the Temple accomodations and Spencer took a nap. We couldn't really wake him up without food so we had fish and chips which hit the spot. We then went to Liverpool and saw "The Beatles Story". It starts with info about their childhoods and moves through the story of getting together through breaking up. Each room is a setting--inside a night club or recording studio or airplane--and it was fun (if a bit pricey). We also walked the dock where most of our ancestors stepped on a ship to sail to America. We found the Sea ... read more

Hi again! It’s just us, bringing you our latest adventure - LIVERPOOL (in a day)! I had always wanted to go there, once I learned it was the birthplace of the Beatles - I just thought it would be interesting! I was pleasantly surprised that not all the musical talent in Liverpool actually dried up & left town when the Beatles moved further afield. In fact, Liverpool turned out to be a bright, vibrant city, with more musical opportunities & events - especially for rock music - than most other places in the UK (including London, in my opinion). Of course, being constantly surrounded by boy & girl bands in the UK had left Vaughan, Pete, Sueanne & myself, ready to hear a bit of the old rock & roll - & so our roadtrip commenced. ... read more

Coral: Hi everyone We're still alive don't worry! Haven't had any time to stop and type, its been crazy and amazing. Spent two days in London. Got off the plane, onto the train going to Cockfosters, couldn't help but laugh at that. Then at every stop they say Please Mind The Gap! Last Year 132 injuries and 1 fatality! MIND THE GAP!!! London was amazing, our BB was right beside the Tower Bridge which is beside the Tower of London. Took at tour through the tower, lots of history there. Went to St. Pauls Cathedral but it was closed, still amazing from the outside though. Went in the British Museum, that was something else! Saw parts of the Parthenon, Egyptian tombs, European history, a bit like a trip around the world in one building. Saw Portabello ... read more
