So here it is my first, of hopefully many entrys into my online travel blog. I shall try to keep it clean and sutible for family vewing! Im intend to keep this diary reguarly updated to give everyone back home a little insight into the sights, sounds and flavours that I will be taking in during my adventure! Christmas and New Year came and went with a blur (as it always does). As usual we all ate and drank too much, and my plan to get fit and healthy before Thailand has well and truly gone out the window! But i guess thats what travelling is all about eh, flexible plans! Thankfully, for the most part, it was a really good Christmas, it has been a nice way to spend my last few weeks at home ... read more

We got a tour of the city, then we had some time to wander around and shop for Beatles merchandise. Before we left, me and a few other people checked out the "Merseyside Maritime Museum" ...that was pretty boring, but it had some interesting parts. We left Liverpool at 4 and got back to the castle at 11:30 that night. I was glad we had three more days to rest before classes started again.... read more

Liverpool- Home of The Beatles.... and not much else, apart from a couple of soccer (sorry, FOOTBALL) clubs. Liverpool wasn't too bad actually. For an old industrial city, it's quite nice. I set out on my mission to see all things Beatles by heading to Albert Dock to check out the Beatles Story, a museum dedicated to the Beatles. It was really cool. You walk around through various rooms and era's of the Beatles. Many rooms were set up to take you back to places like Hamburg, the Cavern Club, Abbey Road studios, Brian Epstein;s record store and more. The last room was totally white, with a white grand piano in the middle. On top of it was a photo of John Lennon and a pair of his famous glasses. The song Imagine played over and ... read more

Geo: 53.3867, -2.71065Went to Liverpool for Liverpool vs Tottenham on Sat. - 3-0 to Liverpool hurray - and it was brilliant being in Anfield, when they sing 'Walk On' at the very beginning it is so emotional - I wasn't the only one with big tears in my eyes, big tough men around us were the same! But Liverpool is a great place, people sooo nice esp. compared to Danes, it was my 1st time but C. has been a few times before, saw 'The Cavern' of course - dump! - although we went to a nice Italian wine bar/restuarant nearby. We went with another couple (A&S) on the ferry to Holyhead on Fri morn. (I flew in the night b4 to Dublin, C. was there for 9 days anyway), and we saw 'Pirates of Caribbean ... read more

Hard to leave after being settled for 3 days. But so long to Scotland, and hello to Liverpool. Our travel started out great . We enjoyed 2 hours of beautiful Lower Scottish and Lake District Countryside. The train ride was relaxing until we missed our connection to Liverpool. It all worked out as we caught a small connection, (somewhat like a bus, stopping in every small town) and only lost about ½ hr. on our schedule. We dropped off our bags and started our quick tour of Liverpool. We found the city much larger than we had anticipated, and in the middle of a large reconstruction. Apparently Liverpool has been designated “2008 European capital of culture”.We went through the Beatles museum on the docks. It was a bit disappointing for the price, but you do learn ... read more

Didnt spend too much time in Liverpool, cos we were knackered.. dont know how we managed to get that way, i think it was the early morning and then the walking all around, Liverpool is quite big, and im sure our tour guide Tina managed to ... read more

Day 26 - Friday 4th August Dad dropped me off again in Gateacre (Gattica!) and I started walking along the Trans Pennine Trail through Liverpool. It runs along the route of the old Liverpool Loop Line Railway which was bombed during the war and then turned into a footpath. It is a beautiful tree lined path and despite it being very early I felt quite safe since there was a few people cycling to work or walking their dog along the path. Then I started seeing bits of blue and white “Police Line - Do not cross” tape in the undergrowth and I realized maybe it wasn’t quite as safe as I thought! Then I was faced with a mystery - I started seeing purple rings around bits of blackened tarmac on the ground. At first ... read more

My second night in Liverpool went much smoother and better than the first. After spending the day wandering around the city and seeing some interesting sites and signs, Jessica and I rested for some much needed breeze by the ocean before heading back to the hostel to rest and freshed up for the evening. We wandered and babbled and we tried to find the Unity theater for a preformance night, but due to babbeling ended up having to back track twice since we kept missing the streets.. heh oops. Finally we arrived at the theater paid our 5 quid and sat down. The last preformance was amazing and was worth the 5 quid alone. They were a break dancing group and I've never seen anyone move they way they did in person. I literally couldn't take ... read more
