14thSeptember Motored to Hayling Island Sailing Club where Tim and Steph (Finn and Sam) from Bonaire are members and kept their boat recently. Sailing club very helpful and friendly and are very happy for us to stay on the mooring for as long as we want...for 10 pound a night. Had dinner with Bonaire that night. Good to catch up. 15th: Relax day - Such a lovely sunny day, spent our ‘sundowner’ time sitting up on the deck seal watching. There was a lone seal just hanging out not far from our boat. It was there for ages, may have been fishing or just swimming round (we don’t really know). 16th: Walked into town along the waterfront. Very nice, long walk. 17th: Southampton Boat show. Phew what a big day!! On our feet, walking all day ... read more

Hi everyone from deepest darkest Southampton, famous for the Titanic and Jane Austen! To tell the truth, it’s very sunny and bright-the British summer is still in full swing. Not to mention that we are still wearing warm jackets! The flight from Singapore to Heathrow was unpleasant which was to be expected. We had a 5 hour layover at Changi and spent that in the Skyview Lounge similar to QANTAS club. . On this trip I have discovered the world of pay per use airport lounges. The only requirement is that you have to have an onward flight. So for $85, we spent 5 hours in a quiet place with comfy chairs, showers, nice food and pleasant wine. It was well worth the money. So after having been on the move for 15 hours without sleeping, ... read more

Friday August 22,2014 This morning , I awoke a bit early than usual but it was nice to see the blue sky again! Came down around 9:15 am and had breakfast and greeted everyone. After breakfast, I got dressed and ready for the day! Today was my day to travel to LONDON but by driving with Jill who is an friend of the family. Before we got into the car, I asked if we could take some group pictures and we did get some good photos. Jill and I said goodbye around 11:15 am and jumped into her MINI-COOP which was nice! Our journey only lasted about an hour, she lives near Wimbeldon Park Tube Station which is really neat. Jill drove past WIMBLEDON itself and pointed out Courts 1&2 where Tennis "Greats" have played, which ... read more

Thursday August 21,2014 Awoke in Portsmouth with blue skies and some sun but the weather was playing tricks with everybody. I went downstairs and greeted everyone around 8:45 am. I had a nice breakfast then I walked back upstairs to change. After breakfast and "english" tea, we all went outside because it was very beautiful. I went to watch Philippa and Jeremy play tennis against Hermione and Jim, in the end the parents beat the "youngsters"! Great Rallies! Good game played by all! Around 10:35 am, I went with Jeremy to pick up a cousin of Philippa and a 2nd cousin once removed for Hermione & I. Jane Watkeys comes from Swansea, Wales and she is a retired doctor! It was great to see and catch up with all of her news! Later on, we set ... read more

Good afternoon to you, We have come to Southampton primarily to run a 5k charity event for Asthma UK on 27th July 2014. Well, this is not strictly true as I though I am supporting the event I shall be supporting the runners from the side lines ??cheering them on and being on hand with water, energy drinks, electrolyte replacements and lots and lots of love ?and admiration for their efforts. The journey down here was rather tiring, it was 31.5 degrees C so very hot and we were in quite a long traffic jam. Of course this is one of two of the busiest weekends to do any road travel as the schools have just broken up for Summer. I hope it won't be such a lengthy, hot and tiring journey tomorrow. I have to ... read more

Visit to Winchester Mark took a day off on Friday, 5 March 2014, and treated me to visit Winchester. We had lunch at the Chinese Restaurant near the station. Then, we headed for the Cathedral via the High Street. After paying the admission fees, we started strolling through the inside of the Cathedral, found the medieval nave, 12th century font, Jane Austen’s grave, the great screen, monuments of celebrities including William Walker, choir stalls with ornate carvings with the theme of a lively enchanted forest, the fishermen’s chapel, and looked round the library and Triforium Gallery. We saw the priceless Winchester Bible and a number of beautiful illustrated books in the library and fragments of the old monuments including the tomb of St Swithum. The highlights include the Norman Crypt situated beneath the east end of ... read more
