That's all for now. ... read more

So where have I travelled this week? Monday: Twickenham to Putney via Kingston Tuesday: to Clapham, back again, to Twickenham Green Wednesday: From Twickenham to Old Street, to Richmond, Kew, Ealing, Kew, Gunnersbury, home via Richmond and Kingston Thursday: Not very far Friday: Kingston (UK), home, Twickenham For those of you who may wonder (or wander!) where these places are, they are largely in the vicinity of Surrey, though my abode is on the cusp with a London address and postcode. Should you walk 5 minutes down the road, you have a Surrey postcode. Local sights include the stables, Richmond Park and the A3. Number 5 has a beautiful array of purple flowers in their front garden.... read more

Hey everyone! Well, my bday started out really great. I woke up early and found that 22 balloons were randomly places throughout the house as well as 2 banners in the living room! Lynne made me some breakfast and I opened the kids presents, got a nice pair of slippers and travel sized toiletries (perfect for Africa) so they were really useful and thoughtful things! I was given lovely cards and got a SPA afternoon from L and D. So, that was pretty sweet. I opened my gifts from home, Christal got me a cute address book and birthday book as well as a painting she had done for my bday. Mom and Reg sent me a beautiful card and some £'s to get a gift. Before I could get to my appointments, I went to ... read more

We arrived in London in time for Halloween and a cold spell: both the weather and me, I had a cold and it snowed the day before we arrived. But despite the colds, we had a ball. It was Steve's first time in London and we mixed in sight seeing with seeing friends. We stayed with Grant and Kath in Putney, an area of London that is full of Aussies. We sampled two of their local pubs, actually, three, and the delicious Indian restaurant across the road from their house. At home, Steve had a go on Guitar Hero for the first time, and I watched Home and Away with Kath. For Halloween, we went to their friends' place for a Halloween Party, where we met a bunch of Londoners dressed up in crazy costumes. Grant ... read more

It is FINALLY time to leave for Africa, and I can't wait. It is still a little surreal that I'm actually leaving tomorrow & going overland through Africa for the next 12 weeks........I've been planning for so long, and am ready to go, but it still seems a bit unreal. For those of you lucky enough not to have heard me talking about my Africa trip over the last few months, follow this link to see my route map: http://www.absoluteafrica.com/route.lasso?trip_code=AS77&subcode= I've had a great last week in Europe though. I left Dublin last Saturday, meet up with friends at Heathrow, and we headed to Munich ready for some serious beer drinking. And beer drinking we did. Oktoberfest was absolutely nuts, we ate like pigs (cannibalistic pigs though, as it was all pretty much pork pork pork), ... read more

And so the day had finally arrived. After a year of talking about taking a break from work, several months of actually planning it, several weeks of celebrating it (Summer of Chi baby) and only hours packing for it - my 4+ month journey begins with a backpack so heavy I can hardly lift it! Thanks to all my friends and family who gave me useful and fun stuff to take along. For those of you back home reading this - I will miss you all and can't wait to share my adventures with you through this blog. Please keep in touch!! Love, Christina xoxo ... read more

Well, tomorrow afternoon I leave for Jordan, officially bringing my summer holiday to a close. I flew up to London to stay with Sue, my mum's friend, for the last few. I spent the day at the house, talking with her kids and meeting some of her friends that dropped by. On Sunday, we went to Oxford Street to do a little shopping - it was mobbed. We got to the store 15 minutes after it had opened, and it was already packed to the gills with people. It was really nice to see more of London, as we were traveling by double-deckers. We went through Chelsea and Westminster, and got to see Hyde Park and Harrods. Unfortunately, it poured the whole time we were out. Sunday night, I went to a local bar, called the ... read more

For Valentine's day I surprised Nicola to a stand up comedy show by an Irish guy called Jimeoin. Romantic, I know. I have to mention that when looking for the theatre we strolled passed a 'learn to belly dance' studio, Nic was terrified that was going to be our final destination. The show was great, Nic was in stitches especially when he talked about bad smells and how to trick your partner into smelling them. He farts on the back of his wrist (where you'd spray perfume) and holds his wrist out for his wife to smell, classic. The following Friday we hosted at our flat the second round of maverick renegade poker which is a strict toilet seats up night i.e. males only. The girls have a night out somewhere so it works out well. ... read more
