And we'll be on our flight to India! Ah, how I hate flying. So we've been keeping ourselves relatively busy over the past few days. Yesterday we spent a very fun and touristy afternoon at Madame Tussaud's, which was highly amusing. It would have been extremely expensive though: regular price is £25 PER PERSON, which is unbelievable. Fortunately we got a two for one deal though, so it wasn't quite as horrifyingly extortionate. I always get a laugh out of wax museums, and the figures at Madame Tussaud's are (scarily) well done. Prince Charles was especially lifelike, although I'm not entirely convinced that he is altogether different from a wax dummy. I got a creepily real looking photo of me standing next to Daniel Radcliffe as well. Paul seems to be adjusting to the skinny mattress ... read more

So we arrived in London on Wednesday night, after the world's LONGEST bus ride from Oxford. It actually wasn't so bad, there was just a ton of traffic on the highway, and as a result it took us ages to get into the city. We were in no particular hurry though, so it was fine. We're now staying at Cheyne and Denise's place in Putney, and we're having a somewhat amusing time with the sleeping arrangements. They've got a spare box room with a single bed, and Denise bought a single air mattress for the floor for one of us. Unfortunately the mattress isn't quite a "single" mattress; it is actually about the width of my shoulders, yet really, really long. We think it might be an inflatable pool toy. Paul has gallantly taken the mattress ... read more

Ok, so when I wrote last we'd just flown back into London from Germany after a week of drinking ourselves silly at Octoberfest. After checking into rehab, I spent a week sobering up before telling Amy Winehouse that she had a face like a bulldog licking piss off a thistle, and was kicked out (somewhat harshly in my opinion). I went back to the bottle, found a burnt out old factory to squat in and funded my drinking habit by selling an assortment of baskets woven from my own hair. I bluff, I bluff. On the day we arrived back we got news that while we were away Lisa and Andre (who I flatted with last year) had found us a flat to move into. Before our trip to Germany we had been searching for a ... read more

Greetings all, I still can't believe it myself, but i'm heading back to "Canadia" in two days! This incredible adventure is coming to an end...i am very sad about it, but so thankful to have had the experience. Why am i going home so suddenly? A few reasons, but one takes the cake: MONEY. An evil, evil thing. But i have just about run out - and the job situation just isn't happening over here in the way i had hoped. On the plus side, I can't wait to catch up with friends and family again! There are engagements to celebrate (woohoo Elissa and Becca!), babies to welcome into the world very soon (baby Hudd!), house warming parties and weddings to plan. Pretty exciting stuff. It took me four months of travel to realize that some ... read more

I know, I know...it's been nearly three weeks since I arrived in London and I have yet to write a word about it. Same deal with my journal - it's all gone out the window! Oh well - here's a quick little update for anyone still interested. We arrived early one late August morning and made our way to Putney, the location of our 'flat!' It is such a cute little place - we've settled in quite nicely there. We spent the first weekend settling in and catching up with friends. Then after the long weekend, we set about finding work! This is probably the most expensive city to live in, so the stress levels were getting fairly high fairly quickly! I was registering with teaching agencies, temp agencies, and even handing my cv in to ... read more

Well we have I have now arrived here in London so now seems like the best time to kick this off. My mate Bevan and I have had a really good trip over which took the best part of a day in a half. Having not been on a long haul flight before I didn’t quite know what to expect but I can now confirm that international air travel is pretty much like being hungover and crammed into a small cage with zero leg room for 24 hours. But without the fun of generating the hangover mind you. We flew Air NZ from Auckland to San Francisco in one of their new 777 planes which proved to be superb for the 12 hour journey. I didn't see a single person going to San Francisco with flowers ... read more

Greetings! Well, my stopover in London en route to Asia is almost over already - i can't believe it! Let me backtrack a bit... I flew out of Toronto in style on the evening of June 15th. As I was boarding, a super nice British Airways man said: "Hang on dear - we're going to change your seat. Think of me as you sip your first glass of champagne!" I thought surely he was joking...but nope! He had kindly upgraded me to business class - likely because i was a young woman travelling alone and not so much because i was mistaken for a celebrity. We're talking bottomless champagne, lovely meals, private movies and a seat that reclined into a full-on bed! I was like a kid in a candy store...though i did my best to ... read more
