Bday AM
A morning picture with the kids and my gifts! Hey everyone!
Well, my bday started out really great. I woke up early and found that 22 balloons were randomly places throughout the house as well as 2 banners in the living room! Lynne made me some breakfast and I opened the kids presents, got a nice pair of slippers and travel sized toiletries (perfect for Africa) so they were really useful and thoughtful things! I was given lovely cards and got a SPA afternoon from L and D. So, that was pretty sweet. I opened my gifts from home, Christal got me a cute address book and birthday book as well as a painting she had done for my bday. Mom and Reg sent me a beautiful card and some £'s to get a gift. Before I could get to my appointments, I went to Gabi's house for my crepe breakfast which was amazing. SHe gave me a really cute mug and photo frame with a picture we got in Greenwich together "London's best au pairs". So, that was really special! I went from her place to the bank to sort out another payment for Africa as the last wire transfer didn't work out. After getting things organized there,
I picked up a couple wish items that I bought from Mom's bday money. So, I now have a shoe picture holder that's super cute! I had a facial first which was good. I was feeling quite sick, coughing, sneezing all of that good stuff! SO, when I started coughing up a lung while having a face steam, the therapist thought I better not have the full amount of time under that machine, yay. My face felt quite fresh when I finished that appointment. I was then off to the hairdressers where I got a nice trim that also had a bit more style than my last haircut. After my time there, I went back to the other spa and got a manicure, went for some seriously dark polish which was a first but figured I could get a little crazy as i get older! Haha. So, I went home and found that a card came from my Aunty Lynn and Uncle Dave from Australia had sent me a nice bday card. Richard phoned me shortly after having arrived home so we were chatting and he asked if I had gotten my parcel yet. I wasn't expecting it as he'd
told me he'd posted it a bit late, last minute rushing on his end. Anyways, before the conversation finished, he walked into the living room with my gift! I was totally shocked. I knew there were surprises but I didn't think it was that big! Also, the fact that i had no idea, they really had their work cut out for them because I am a bit of a detective when it comes to stuff like this! So, mom, reg, dad, richard, christal and the Evans were all up to this surprise without a hint of what would happen. After I got ready, we (Lynne, Luke, Alex, Rhiannon, Richard and I) went to TGI Friday's for dinner (I got JD ribs) and got stuffed there! We went on to Krispy Kreme donuts but I couldn't eat more than one (which is probably a good thing). Later on in the evening, Gabi, Hannah, Chris, Richard and I went to the After Office Hours pub in HIgh Barnet for a few drinks which was quite cool. It's the least you do on a bday but I was sick and not interested in doing much of anything but sleeping! So, they kept me
Coffee Republic
"I LOVE CR!" Mmm, best coffee in England - hands down. up!
Saturday I had a change of plans from going to Hastings with Hannah and Chris because Richard was here and I was still a bit sick so we went to Windsor instead. It was awesome, longer train ride but we made it to Windsor Castle and explored the church, State apartments, Anne's dollhouse and the gardens around the castle. It was a great place to see, small town but interesting to walk around. There were girls dressed up in old school outfits which R and I considered doing but it was super expeounsive and there are other cool things to do so we just paid to get our picture with them instead. I've just put his picture on for you.
Sunday we went to Hillsong London for the service, Christine Caine was speaking and she is amazing. She is working with a program (A 21) to free women who have become prostituted in various cities through Europe. It was a really great service and very encouraging! After the service, I introduced Richard to Petticoat Lane Market and from there we went to Harrods, a really interesting and amazing store that is quite high market. They have specific
Petticoat Lane Market
One of my dress buys, super cute! I also love my new rainbow jacket that I got for my bday, thanks Mom and Reg! rooms for everything, furniture to food, for the most part quite expensive but it's an experience!
The week went by quickly with cleaning the house, working at my usual housecleaning jobs and then doing random stuff like traditional fish and chips. On Monday we went out for drinks and an Indian dinner with Dave and Lynne which was awesome. It was great food and a fun night. Thursday evening we went to see The Mousetrap by Agatha Christie. It's the longest running play, something like 57 years in London so that's pretty cool. We had good seats and it was worth the money/time to watch, really recommended murder mystery! Anyhow, we also fit in a bit of sight seeing on the river cruise boat to the Tower Pier as well as an Imax show "Under the Sea". It was a really fun time and it went by super duper fast. Now, I am here on my own catching up on my lists of stuff to complete as we are off to France on Saturday early morning!
Saturday morning was spent getting to the airport and saying goodbye until Aug. It was a bonus visit that I had given
Putney Bridge
Before the Oxford/Cambridge race! up planning so I was a bit suprised to feel left behind when he went back. Ah well, lots of adventures here for me to live before I go home. I spent the rest of my day trying shop therapy, needed a travel backpack for Africa so I was able to buy that and a few other little things I needed. I had an earlier night, visited with Gabi and just phoned a few people I haven't talked to in a while! Sunday was good, met up with Gabi and we went to Petticoat Lane Market, had a picnic lunch on the bus and then I went to Putney Bridge to watch the Oxford Cambridge boating competition. Oxford ended up winning the race, met a random Canadian guy from Victoria while I was on the tube ride over so I went with him and his friends to watch the race. I guess he recognized the lulu lemon symbol on my pants! Anyhow, it was a good time but a bit annoying as there were people crowded in absolutely everywhere and it wasn't my style at all. By the time we chose where we would stay it had 3x as many people as when we had arrived. We survived and got to see a bit of the race anyhow. I went home shortly after that and had a nice roast dinner before attending the evening service at my church. My friend Rachel from church was being baptized along with a few other people so it was great to see that. I saw with my friend Luis so we caught up as we haven't hung out for a couple months now.
Well, that's pretty much what's been happening in a nutshell. I am keeping super busy doing all my to do's for Africa, etc. as next week we are all going to France and then I have the kids at home for another week on term break so time's flying on my end. Better run but hope you liked my stories and pics. Hugs, Chloe
