So we are in the U.K so it rained today. It was ok. Yesterday we arrived in Oxford, after taking the Chunnel and chaning trains in London. We met up with Jen had a beer at a pub. It was fun. Today Alex and I had an English breakfast: baked beans, cooked tomatoes, potates, bacon and sausage and an egg, plus toast and fruit. It three oclock, we have not eaten since, except these free crackers we got at the station, not recommended. We then headed off to London. We walked through Hyde Park, saw the Diana memorial, very boring, looked like a big wadding pool, saw rotten row and people riding on it, saw the changing of the guard, accidently and St James's palace. We also saw Buckingham Palace and Big Ben as well as Westminister Abbey. ... read more

London - Day 2 So far so good, my London experience is about to begin. I'm stayin at the Generator hostel here in Central London, its got...oh about 800 cheap rooms. After not sleeping on the flight over, i took the first night off and pretty much chilled at the bar here. Today i'm goin to the British Museum, and the national gallery. I'll try to bring some of our people's stuff the bloody Brits stole, but no promises, security might be a little tight. Initial thoughts on the British: they all look the same, their teeth arent the whitest, and i can only understand 20% of what they say. Cheers for now, Aidin P.S. Hi there all, We have not been near a computer since we left Cairns on 18th May, I am having withdrawel syptoms :( This will only be a short as at an internet cafe. No dick drive so can't send photos either! We arrived in London on Friday afternoon at 14.20 and were supposed to be picked up by Hotel link and be taken to our hotel. Well, the tour escort was there but our names were not on the list?? She rang her supervisor who told us we needed to make out own arrangement to the hotel - £48.00 later!!!!! Not happy. This wasn't the first hick up! Cindy and I did not have breakfast included in Hong Kong so we were a little annoyed by that one as well. Hong Kong was same weather ... read more

Andrew and I have both celebrated our fair share of birthdays overseas. My 21st birthday was spent in Hawaii as Andrew prepared to compete in the Hawaiian Ironman Triathon, as was my 24th birthday. My 25th birthday was spent in Granada, in the midst of our six months travelling around the world. This trip, as on our last big adventure, we have had to leave Australia before the 25th of May, to avoid paying peak fares so this is the second time Andrew has left Australia and been celebrating his birthday on the other side of the world a few days later. Four years ago it was in Santiago Chile, this time London. Unsure of what to do or where to go to celebrate Andrew's birthday in an unfamiliar country we caught a train into the ... read more

Here are some photo's of the place Heath and I moved into in Earls Court. Earls Court itself is traditionally where alot of antipoedans move into ie, all the aussies, sth africans and kiwis. Its a major tube station which means we have quick access to the city and fantastic connections to all parts of London. Its mainly one long street - Earls Court Road, with lots of travellers needs, cafes and small shops. Within a 5minute walk is High Street Kensington where loads of clothes retailers are. Also within easy walking distance is Kensington Palace, Hyde Park, Harrods, National History Museum and Royal Albert Hall. So its a pretty cool area within zone 1. Our place is in a restored Victorian terrace, we are on the top floor in the original loft which has been ... read more

I actually got to here someone say that today. Apparently Liverpool 'football' team played Milan last night and was down 3-0. That staged a comback and won on penalty shots. Soccer hooligans were the only people I saw last night and they were rather rowdy. One of my tour guides today barely had any voice left from yelling so much at the game last night. I would have to say that I kicked London's ass today ( but it might have kicked mine as well) I saw Trafalgar Square, Picadilly Circus, the Tower of London, London Bridge, the Tower Bridge, Parliment and the House of Commons(just like on c-span or whatever that channel is) - on a side note it was a lot like going to the U.S. Congress, there was only about 14 people in ... read more

Well I survived the night and didn't get raped as some would have predicted... you know who you are. I have to change hostels because this one is all booked up for the night. I'm heading over to Picadilly Backpackers in Picadilly Circus. After that I have booked a ferry crossing from Portsmouth to Caen, France for tomorrow. So far most of the people I have seen and talked to are fresh high school graduates. It makes me feel old, but there are quite a few people traveling alone though. Maybe I will find someone to explore with, I don't know. That's all for now.... read more

OH MY GOD! I am finally here! I didn't think that I would ever arrive at the hostel. I didn't get into Heathrow until about 10:00pm and I found out from my single serving friend next to me on the plane that a lot of the trains quit running at about 11:30pm. So naturally I was a little worried about getting to the hostel before the train quit running. I ended up taking a route other than the one that the directions I had called for. That's a liitle nerve racking when you consider that I have never rode the subway (or tube as they call it). After three trains, half an hour of walking, and the kindness of a native british hottie, I finally made it here. In hindsight all I apparently had to do ... read more

Today is the last day of 'Music and Culter in London'. It has been a good run. I highly recommend doing this course to anyone who can. I am leaving to Bath in 2 minutes but I though I would take advantage of the free computer here to add a picture. The one thought that I have at this time is that after 2 weeks in London, it is time to move on. During the course we did so much in a day that it was exhausting. I figure, go to the place where people have been going to relax for thousands of years. It's about time I had a bath anyway. At least that's what I've been told.... read more
