Well, after some nailbiting we discovered that we need not have worried.. Roger the Rover delivered us to Hull with no problems. We had booked ourselves into Burton Constable which is a campsite set in the grounds of a stately home, in Pete's words after looking on google maps, 'an oasis in a sea of whale bits'. We parked on the side of the lake with views of Burton Constable Hall. If it wasn't for the sea of northerners that would decend upon us later that day you would never have known we were in Hull! We decided to leave the fishing till later in the week when it was quieter and after sitting in the sun for a while we were not dissapointed. The catch of the day was an awsome sight which we affectionatly ... read more

Wednesday 2.12.2009 Day 49 York Minister We had a fantastic bfast and then we drive to York Minister the largest gothic cathedral in northern Europe and it is 1000 years old. It is one of two cathedrals that has its own police (the other being the Swiss Guard off the Vatican). The Minister and the inner city are inside a wall that surrounds the city. York has more miles of intact city walls than anywhere else in England, and some sections of the walls date back to Roman times. We then drove to Scotland just before we got to the border it started to snow and as we got to the boarder there was lots of snow even on the boarder sign. We then checked into our hotel the Barony Castle and had a look around ... read more

Well I went to bed early last night, tired from a typical rubbish day at work and stayed awake till the early hours worrying. Not good. I started picturing my Dad leaving me at the airport, at that point thats it, I'm on my own. I'll be in an airport on my own and leaving to travel 5656 miles away on my own. When Dad drops me off at the airport at around 8am on the Saturday, he will be the last person to know who I am until I reach the VMF at around 4pm on Monday. Thats almost 3 days without anyone knowing who I am and where I am supposed to be. Anything can happen in that time! Scares me a lot. To be honest I am glad to be going, students wittering ... read more

On a typical cold and rainy August day in Hull we loaded the Landrover into the container, As usual things did not go smoothly and with the lift kit the roof rack and roof tent we were about 4cm to high for the container so in the rain we had to take off the jerry cans and the roof tent to get the landy in. Fortunately the container was big enough to also lie the roof tent flat, and we ratcheted down the Landrover to stop it moving about and sealed it up, fingers crossed it emerges in the same state that we put it in!! ... read more

Ok, well I'm still in the UK (boo!!) but am leaving sunny 'ull in less than 65 hours (yah!!!). I'm still half way through my guidebook, so don't know much about China, but I've got a better idea of the things I want to see. This is my list of things to see/do while I'm there: *Great Wall, Forbidden City, Tianneman Square, Summer Palace, Terracotta Soldiers (not too fussed about the last one, I'll see how much it costs) *Visit Shaolin Temple in Henan and see crazy kung fu moves. Not participating. *Sezchuan- see crazy Chinese opera, eat some dog, eat too much chilli, feel sick. *Buy a wristwatch with a picture of the Queen on it (or the Pope). *See one of those old men who uses a commorond to fish, like on the HSBC ... read more

Hi everyone! I thought I would start a blog, to try and cut down on excessive group emails, making my travelling easier for me, but still hilarious for you! I'm in the UK, back home in sunny Hull, packing up stuff I probably won't need, and getting vaccines that I probably will. The Hep B one is really knocking me for six, so in very non-Terri fashion, this is going to be a relatively sober summer. Probably a good idea though, cos I am so poor atm its untrue. (Donations welcome.) I have had a nice summer since finishing my degree (Desmond for Terri, but better than what I was expecting) visiting Seviilla (if you don't know about that already, it's too late), Sicily with my Mother which was amazing (met a anti-mafia squad, sailors and ... read more

I am up at silly o'clock as I cant sleep and just keep looking at the clock. Hopefully I have set this up right so everyone can keep up with us....................prob not tho knowing me?!. Well thats it for now - I'm going to hide more stuff in the van before Scott chucks it out!. Take Care xxx... read more
