Just a quick entry. Hope everyone is well. After a fun ferry journey from Denmark - complete with man and guitar and dancing drunk swedish pensioners we docked in Göteborg port. We're having a great time here in Sweden with our friends, Camilla, Rick and their 3 energetic children. Having continuously glorious weather and enjoying Swedish hospitality. Götenburg is a lovely city and Camilla has an apartment right smack bang in the middle of the city centre - very convenient for sightseeing! It has been lovely seeing them and will be sad to leave tomorrow, but Denmark is calling us once again!... read more

Well I made it, my big jump from Madrid to Stockholm and though it was only a three hour flight, they are worlds apart (as you would expect I guess). I spent a few nights in Stockholm doing all the tourist things you have to, then I moved on to Goteberg. Stockholm is a very clean city in fact too clean the buildings are beautiful and everything is on islands and so green and grey (I guess you can expect the grey if you decide to go to Sweden in the winter). In goteberg I stayed with my friend Emanuel who worked at the hostel for 8 months or so. He had the time off work so I had a personal guide to the ins-and-outs of the area. We even took a tour of the Volvo ... read more

Okay so my second day in Gothenburg was interesting. The snowstorm wasn't as bad, but it was still windy and cold. We left the apartment and took the tram to the Central Station. From there, we walked around to find that the Chinese place we were going to have dinner at was no longer there. So we saw a few things like the Domkyrkan, Mariakyrkan, and some statues. I got to see the famous Avenue and the Rose Garden. We went by the indoor and outdoor stadiums too. Anyway, we walked around and then went to the movie theater and saw Vantage Point. The movie theater was near the indoor arena (Scandinavium). We met up with William, then headed to another Chinese place. The sweet and sour chicken was good, accompanied with sticky rice. Of course ... read more

I arrived yesterday in Gothenburg. Angela described it to me as a really large Gamla Stan (old city in Stockholm) and I think she's right. This means I have so far decided I like Gothenburg. There are trams and busses, which reminds me of Brussels. Robin's Dad's apartment has a great view and I can see the bridge that crosses the ocean. Anyway, the only hitch in the visit is that there is a snowstorm. Everything is covered and it's only now that I can see anything really. Still, it's pretty. So what to say about the city... If you arrive here (by plane, train, bus, or car) you will need to see some sights. There is a large arena and a tivoli. The tivoli isn't open yet. There's a neat science place where they have ... read more

A little while ago (the weekend of 2 February actually, so I'm richly late in publishing this blog, as usual) I went on a weekend to Göteborg. Some might not know this but it is actually the second largest city in Sweden. I knew someone who lived there (and just to beat smart comments to the punch, yes it is through a computer game, drunken gaming can be cool!) who invited me over and who am I to turn him down! So off I went (after spending f**king five minutes figuring Swedish train ticket machines out, now I know what an apex ticket is) on a three hour train ride during which I finished a lot of reading and got to see some of the Swedish landscape between Lund and Göteborg, which, unfortunately wasn't all that ... read more

Då: Läste Japanska vid Göteborgs Universitet. A, B och C-kursen avklarade. Nu: Flygbiljetter köpa. Ansökningar skickade. Papper fixade. Intyg utskrivna. Rekommendationsbrev fixade. Pengar växlade. Pass uppletat. Väskor köpta. Tentor skrivna. Dator och kamera laddade. CSN-fighten avklarad. Försäkringar hit och VISUM dit... Allt är nu färdigt. Pfuu. Japan, here I come! Sen när ... read more

Hiya travelblog lovers! =) We hope you all have had a really nice Christmas. Now we're back in a cold and dark Gothenburg. We're not too sad about it though since we have missed all our friends, family, sushi and salt liquorice just to mention some things. And we have had a really nice traditional Christmas too :) But if you are curious to find out what we were up to the last two weeks of our trip, keep reading... To go from Zambia to Tanzania we were ready to take a 48-hour train journey which we were not looking forward to. Getting to the train station we just had a 2,5 hour bus ride. It might sound strange, but the train was nothing compared to the bus ride. We thought that arriving to the bus ... read more

Armed with our blondish hair, popular swedish names, (and superhuman powers of course), we took scary flight number two to Gothenburg, Sweden. Thanks to Liz's friends Tess, Ryan, and baby Liam we had familiar faces to meet us as the airport, house us, feed us, provide us with clean laundry and showers (yay!), show us around, and above all provide us with some excellent company! Tess made us American pancakes and we practiced our swedish as we explored the older part of Gothenburg. Who knew that Gothenburg is actually pronounced (ok, are you ready for this all you American kids?) YO-TE-BURY. Yeah that's right, no goth, and definitely no burg...huh. No wonder no one in Europe knew what we were talking about when we told them we were going to Gothenburg. The number seven was also ... read more
