¿has dicho local? .. No, yo he dicho teatro. ¿Un gato?¿o una gata? ... Un gato coleccionador de perfumes de ahí... "los autenticos". Pero que extraño gatito... ¿Argentino? ¿francés? todo un artista Don Señor gato Gente por los suelos. Un pingüino, un burro, una gallina, ... read more

How wonderful!!! We have nothing but good things to say about Valencia! Jes and I have decided it's our favorite city to date, no question. It's beautiful, warm, on the water, clean, and easy to navigate. We really couldnt ask for better. Anyway, so we arrived on friday evening after a bus to the airport and then a short flight into Valencia...then a taxi to finally get to our hotel. We dropped off our stuff and headed out to the historic center. What a beautiful area!! It was adorable! Wide open tree-lined streets connecting open piazzas with little shops and restaurants scattered around them. The streets were well lit and the whole section was brimming with people-teenagers on skateboards, old couples taking walks, families with young children, friends sitting down for a beer. Everyone seemed to ... read more

¡Hola! ¿Que pasa? Well I am now back in Utrecht after an amazing 5 days in Madrid, Spain! We had such a great time... cheap shopping, sunny weather, friendly people, and plenty of tapas and sangria! The cheap flight that we got to Madrid was with RyanAir (one of the cheapest smaller European airlines) and they only fly out of Eindhoven, Netherlands, which is about a 50 min train ride south of Utrecht. It was a bit of a process getting there since our flight was so early. We had to leave our place at 5am (in a cab since the buses don't run that early)... then take the 50 min train ride to Eindhoven (which we almost missed).... then a bus ride from the Eindhoven train station to the airport.... then the 2 hour ... read more

Well I finally made it to that waiter Miguels Uncle's vineyard. If you put the following co-ordinates into Google Earth (or Maps) it should give you an ariel view of the vineyard itself. 41.285845,1.707687 Carlos, (Miguels uncle) said I should avoid hitchhiking, especially with lorry drivers. He didn't like Frank very much and I have to say he was rather an odd man. The grapes here are used to make a delicious Cava. Apparently you can't beat a good Cava. I'm off to Barcelona tomorrow for a quick scoot round before I catch a plane to Italy. Carlos reckons you shouldn't miss Rome if you're doing the mediterranean tour, but he recommended Barcelona for the Gaudi Architecture. In my latest picture I was having a walk through the Vineyard, I tried a couple of the grapes ... read more

Went and hike the sweet rock know as Penyal d'ifac !! Anybody that gets the chance to take a trip to this area and is able to do some easy to moderate hiking should climb it. It's 332 meters or 1090 feet to the top. The trail starts off on a average park trail, that leads into a cave that was dug in 1918. The cave is a little difficult to walk through because the floor is not stable and its a bit dark. After you exit the cave it opens up to the other side and a wonderful view of the bay and some of the smaller peaks. The first part of the trail contains ropes on the wall "just in case". Naturally we went on, usually choosing the more difficult path to lead us ... read more

Hi all! So the title of this post is your official warning. At some point tomorrow my little brother...a child of the 90´s will climb into the driver´s seat of MY car and attempt to take his driver´s test. If he passes, I feel very sorry for all of you that lice anywhere in the vicinity of the area he may be driving in. Travis, iBuena suerte! So, this hasn´t been a great day for me so far. It´s about 6:00pm here right now and I have officially spent the last two hours trying to get my laptop to sign online, yesterday I promised you a picture of the outside of the "K" building...but as many of my astute followers may have noticed...didn´t post one...So, I was going to do that today, but my laptop apparantly ... read more

While everyone else in the lab was freezing cold in Cambridge, I was sunning myself in Lanzarote with Charlie. The weather was even better than predicted, but I did get a little bit too warm when I went to visit the Timanfaya National Park and ended up on the volcano grill! The ground is very hot in that area and a barbeque set up over a hole is hot enough to cook chicken (and me). I also went to the Jameos del Agua caves, created by the outside layer of a lava flow hardening into rock while the molten lava in the middle continues to flow, making a tube. In these caves live a species of blind albino crab, which are otherwise found only very deep in the ocean. You can see me here by a ... read more

Hola Chicos! I realize this has taken a super long time compared to the others to get done. However, I had a crazy hectic week. I returned from Spain on Monday and had a Ball to put together for that evening, had a quiz along with a full double load of classes on Wednesday, and a midterm today (thursday). Finally life has slowed down a little bit, until I leave tomorrow for Oxford, Bath, and Stonehenge! This is a school-planned trip so it will be a lot less stress on me, just as long as I make the busses on time!! So, onto my Spainish life... Day 1: Me and my roommate Stephanie left right after class ended at noon on Wednesday 14 February. We hopped a couple of trains and had a flight into Barcelona ... read more

hola! Que tal? Everyone should now be thinking of or referring back to my previous post for the proper answer to this question!! lol Not too much going on here to report today, but, I have pictures, so I'm going to try to post them. There are pictures of the "K" building here....which is where I have 4 of my 5 classes, and the professors during their morning strike. Just thought you might all want to see that for yourself! lol Okay, well enjoy and I will write more tomorrow! Oh yea, this weekend is Valencia all day Friday and Saturday, so there won't be posts those days, hopefully I'll be able to get on on Sunday and update and post pictures from the trip, but no promises...Monday definitely...but that's after tomorrow, so...talk to you then!! ... read more

Hi all!! Este nota es muy pequeno. No tengo mucho tiempo. Voy salir con Julie desde Surf. Ella e-mailed yo y vamos para cafe. I´m going to meet Julie for coffee...probably tea or something else for me, but they all call it coffee regardless...anyway, I wasn´t sure if I´d get to get back on the internet later or not so I thought I´d drop a quick note on here right now while I had the chance. The professors are still striking so apparantly the school isn´t ready to give in just yet. My class this morning was shortened by a half-hour because of the strike. I need to get a picture of all of the teachers gathering in the plaza of the school with thier banner, flags and shirts. Yes, they have all of them....and they ... read more
