Well, the ferry trip is over at last! I couldn't sleep in the cabin, those three just insisted on doing aerobics all night so I crept out and managed to catch a catnap in the snackbar. One of the waiters was telling me about his uncles vineyard. He says they make the best wine in Espana from the grapes he grows. Apparently Espana is the Spanish way of saying Sapin. So I quite fancy a look at that, but first I had to go to the Guggenheim in Bilbao. Oh wow did I love that! I couldn't actually get inside as apparently they don't let animals in, cats, cows stuffed or otherwise. Though apparently if I was a cow of two halves I might just make it. This chap Damien who came up with this idea ... read more

Considering we slept until about 10:30 on Saturday, we got a late start. We all had wanted to visit the Sagrada Familia by Gaudi. If anyone doesn’t know the story - it is a temple designed by Spanish architect Antonio Gaudi. The Construction started in 1884 and through the construction stage, Gaudi continued to make changed to the design and plan. In 1926, Gaudi was killed - hit by a tram and died. Construction was stopped for awhile, however has been continued since. Because of all the changed made after construction started - no one knows how to finish. The temple is still under construction, and will be for quite some time. The Sagrada Familia is probably the single greatest piece of architecture I have ever seen. It is so amazing, I can’t even describe it ... read more

5-17 February I decided that another 10-day Vipassana meditation course was necessary because I felt so calm and curious and intrigued after the first course and I could feel that this was diminishing as time went on, with drinking and smoking and not finding the time to sit for an hour in the morning and evening each day. I could also tell that it didn´t feel right and so it was time to get refocused. This time, however, I decided to serve the course rather than just sit. This means that I would help cooking for 50-55 meditators and 12 other servers/teachersand see to it that they had everything they need so that they could meditate with as few distractions each day. So everyday if I managed my time right I could fit in 4-5 ... read more

Chocolate Y Churros ROCKS! Well I must say that Madrid is one of my fave places so far! The people, the food, the shopping...awesome! AND they have siesta time in the afternoon - how civilised! Flew into Madrid and found the train system really easy to negotiate. Checked into our hostel the POP Hostel...recommended by Susy (who is Spanish) and it was a great recommendation! They were really nice people and we got a free úpgradé' from a 4 bed dorm to 2 beds with private ensuite...fabulous I could finally was my hair properly! he he. (Although the ceiling did fall in on Deans bed one evening but no injuries so all good and funny!) Over the next few days we saw The Plaza Mayor, Plaza Del Sol, Retiro Park, Real Madrid Stadium, The Bull Fighting ... read more

Friday, Day 23 3:30 - taxi - plane - bus - taxi - 11:00 Welcome to Barcelona! I hate traveling. Traveling days are the worst, but you almost always end up somewhere better then where you started, so I deal. Everything worked out perfect with getting to/from airport/bus stations. Everything was perfect. We got to our Hotel: Husa Tres Torres. It was so nice. Nothing overly excessive, but it was just perfect for what we needed. The room was clean, the shower was great, and the beds were worth every penny. The people were nice, very - protective, I want to say, but not in a bad way. It was just the 3 of us, 3 girls. Every time we went out they reminded us to be careful and hold onto our purses, and they told ... read more

Well, left London after only being there for a few days and toodled off to Alicante in Spain! I loved it!! Beautiful buildings, Sangria, winding streets, Sangria, Castles, Sangria!!! Yes, I absolutely loved Sangria!! Once again, Katie made sure I was up and about... we climbed the rather large hill to the Castle which was a hard slog for me but I made it! Unfortunately it strained the hell out of my foot, but nevermind... the view was lovely. Obviously from looking at the pictures, one of my favourite parts of Alicante was the beautiful winding streets. So many places to eat.. amazing Rose and of course plenty of beer! Other highlights, walking on the harbour and boardwalk at night, shopping at the markets for scarves and jewellery! All in all, glad we went! Mind you, ... read more

So, I got to sleep in this morning. I got up at around 4:30am your time. Had a lazy breakfast of Frosted Flakes with watered down leche (milk) and a chocloate covered pretzel. Today I plan on going for a nice ... read more

Wow, I have an awesome family! Yesterday I had no Valentine's and now I have THREE!! lol Love you all...my valentine or not!! Today has been a very nice day. It's a little colder here today than it has been for the last few days, but nowhere near as cold as I here it is on the homefront! Had my one class this morning, which went ok, than I went home. Monica had a trip for work today so she wasn't around for lunch. She left a note on the table asking one of us to move the clothes from the washer to the clothesline though. Not that I knew that right away. She conviently left the dictionary right next to her note so I looked up the meaning of what she wanted. So, then I ... read more

This weekend a lot of the kids in my group are going to Cadiz, a city by the coast of Spain for the big Carnaval celebration. It's pretty much a big eating, and drinking fest in preparation for the fasting of lent. It lasts like ten days of something, but obviously the kids here can only really go on the weekend. I'm not really up for going, though....I think I might spend the weekend here. There is another visit to the Alhambra on Saturday, I think I'll go there instead, we have a different tour guide this time so ... read more

Hola ¿Como estas? iHoy yo fue a la tienda y compro Philadelphia Cream Cheese! I miss the little stuff about American food. I miss pop-tarts, and cream cheese, and salt. Oh don´t get me wrong, my señora has salt, but they just don´t serve or have salty food here. So, some potato chips would be really nice about now. lol Okay, now that I´m done ranting about the food that I miss maybe I´ll tell you about the food I do get here. They deep-fry everything, and if it´s not deep fried it´s either covered in Olive Oil, or fried in a regular frying-pan with Olive Oil. Oh, I don´t know how I forgot this option either...covered in Mayonaisse. Now, I know some of you may be thinking this would be a dream come true, but ... read more
